After speculation arose due to San not being present during the GSTL match vs IM, San has finally confirmed he has left NSHS, in favour of finding a foreign team to move away from Korea.

New Star Hoseo now have the roster
jjakji Tassadar Sculp Seal Brave SalvatioN
With 2 players rumoured to be joining as a result of their recruitment tournament,
The team has taken some major hits, but lets hope they can rise from the ashes

He was streaming with ESCDaisy''s account the other day. Maybe they're friends and he's possibly joining ESC?

the fact they've managed to hold on to Jjakji is either a miracle or a horrible indictment of how bad foreign teams are at choosing Korean talent to recruit

Aw man sad to see him leave. I guess he was waiting until he was eliminated from OSL

Maybe he is going to MoW? Haha sorry I only read the first two comments in the image xD

Why can't it be both ? Lol.
Isn't San the protoss that Artosis was calling the 'whack-a-mole' protoss a long time ago in the GSL ? If so, then he has definitely put out some entertaining games. Good luck to him.

Yes.
After that series vs sC with the massive back and forth wars of warp in storm vs relentless bio aggression.
Might have to go back and watch that now.
Best of luck San, even if I'm sad Jjakji has even less chances in GSTL now.

Who would you choose to recruit from players who are attainable? MMA?

I hope NSHS can keep it together. Best of luck to San though, I always miss his stream T_T

San and Sage both left, hard to see the team doing well unless Jjakji hard carries or the new recruits turn out to be geniuses

Didn't he leave NSH once and came back already? Now he's leaving again? San should realize that foreign teams are full of Koreans now. It's not like in the old days when Puma was joining EG. May be he doesn't want to join the military?
|
NS Hoseo not looking very healthy Let's all watch their GSTL match next week, it might be their last. Also, there are so many Koreans as free agents out there (basically since OGS dissolved there is a big oversaturation), so if you aren't a popular streamer or Code S level it's gonna be hard to find a foreign team. Good luck to ManZenith anyways, but I'm not the most optimistic about it.

Why is everyone leaving? Did Sting, Sage and Seal all leave for the same reason?

They are far from disbanding, no need to worry.
From a structural point of view they are in the best shape they have ever been

NSHS is in a really tight spot now =/ Hopefully they can recruit some great players so they stay afloat.

People should stop worrying about Korean teams disbanding and start worrying more for foreign teams. They're falling left and right like fruit flies. The only Korean team to disband so far is oGs while foreign teams just keep droping like bombs falling out of the sky.

Jjakji was really underrated at first, then he won a GSL (which many consider more or less of a fluke nowadays, and honestly it's not that far-fetched) at which point he got massively popular. And I will agree, that finals vs Leenock was very sick, but since then he has been quite underwhelming for a champion. Solid, but most definitely underwhelming. So he's went from underrated, to overrated, to underrated once more.
As for San, I was never really a big fan of him although I am grateful that he contributed to the removal of the Khaydarin amulet. Hope he does find a foreign team that suits him and maybe he will find the drive to become a real contender once more like he was early on in 2011? We'll see.

We've lost a lot of Korean teams actually, not sure how long you've been around. Zenex also disbanded even more recently than OGS and Startale acquired their best players.

We are talking about a world where the recruiting competition for a certain Korean terran (who was going to be a top 3 player in the world, no matter who picked him up) was...less than ferocious.
Foreign management in general seems shoddy when it comes to distinguishing different levels of Korean talent.
|
Isn't NSH a team sponsored by their academy? If so... I can't ever see them disbanding.... TSL lost all their players and recruited and raised some major talent, I BELIEVE IN NSH!! THEY CAN DO THE SAME!!!
|
Its ridiculous that Jjakji and Tassidar haven't been poached by now. Jjakji can win any tournament if he was on a team with good practice partners. And Tassidar is a great sniper for team leagues since he can take down more or less any protoss in the world at the moment. I just find it amazing that players like that stay on such a small team that probably doesn't offer them anything except a team house and food.

Jjakji could be EG.Puma 2.0 of the foreign scene if he was being sent to a lot of events, sucks that he doesn't get any opportunities. I think IPL4 is the only thing he ever went to and that was because he won a free trip from the IPL tournament of champions or whatever it was.

Haha, nice grab by liquid there! (I can dream...)

It's a miracle that NSH managed to outlive oGs in the first place. I don't think they will disband but wouldn't be surprised if they merge with some other team. Overall I think it's good,I don't see the Korean starcraft2 scene having enough resources and fan base to support more than 6 teams(independent of kespa).

I don't think NSHS will be alive next year, unfortunately. I don't know how they're holding on to jjakji, honestly.

I could see complexity picking up San, complexity just parted ways with killer and San specifically says how he wants to move out of Korea, something like the complexity house would be perfect.

San has one hell of a story with him from the gsl. Also Jjakji is so good, wouldn't be surprised at all to see ascend to greatness again.

Jjakji played some sick games in the GSTL a couple of days ago, he's still good enough to be in Code S easily. He just didn't get through the group which happens to a lot of players who deserve Code S. Creator didn't make it through his up/down group even though he just won WCS Korea and TSL4.
edit: also beat Taeja in WCG Korea.

Honestly... he's not been showing great results. A deal like ESC.Daisy's would be right up his alley. Hopefully he can find a comfortable spot.
I do agree NSHS needs to beat Fnatic for the 8th GSTL spot. Not doing so would be... embarassing.

San's done this before IIRC, and nobody wanted him, so he rejoined HoSeo. Hope it works out for him this time

The "BFF" situation aside, could it simply be that they stick with NSHS for now because they know that they won't be playing full time any time soon? (incoming months, at the end of the year, HotS etc). I don't know when the semesters start in Korea, or if you can just jump in at any time, but could it be simple as that? That they realize that they have had their fun these ~2 years and with some pushing from their parents they are now gonna get back to school?

Millenium San ?

San can do some amazing things. Somehow he was the first one who I remember, to do the whole Blink Stalker blink-back micro tactic, and the first player in the GSL to abuse warp-in storms.
Regarding jjakji, without him, I'm not sure where NOSEO would be. Maybe the foreign teams want to homegrow more talent first, especially with the expansion around the corner.
|
it would be sad to me if he left right after NSHS losing in the GSTL, like it was the final last straw.
not to say that it isn't the best choice for San.
|
Pretty sad. San was NSHS's only true star for a long time unti Jjakji won the GSL. He essentially put NSHS on the map with his epic GSL semifinal run. I seem to recall a story a long time ago about San helping his then-fledgling team buy equipment with his winnings. I'm not convinced he'll be a hot commodity on the foreign free agent market though because Koreans are losing their novelty and marketing value. Plus, aside from qualifying for the OSL San hasn't accomplished much in recent months anyways.

NSHoSeo isn't in a bad spot at all, they have a b-team clan (kind of like a farm team) however the public recruitment was to raise attention / possibily pick up people better than the b-teamers.
Their finances are really well set, and ultimately the condition of everything regarding them is good too. They have one of the best (if not the very best) practice regime that I know of, of all the SC2 GSL teams, Slayers used to be the former a few months ago though.

Been doing it since beta, too bad teams think that having a talent scout should be free, I applied to about every team. coL was the only ones that even offered more than a pat on the back, but it was still a weak deal. One day they will wake up and realize they all need one, very very badly.

Guess he's after the traveling and owning in foreign tournaments. I have no idea how NSH do their businesses either , do the players get a salary or get their education paid? Since their only sponsor is a college.
Their affiliation with NsP is something I've always been fascinated by as well.

Foreign teams SUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK at talent scouting. Why are you so full of yourself?
Full of himself? The post you quoted stated the truth. It's thanks to him Taeja is on Liquid and foreign teams are absolutely horrible at scouting out talent.

I hesitate to say this but on Reddit (no laughing please) someone is claiming San is moving to the UK to study, presumably at University. This would explain why San is leaving his team. The new University terms are starting in just over a week in the UK, so the timing fits.
If this is the reason for him leaving then it is no reflection on NSHS but merely San moving into a new stage of his life.

That's usually how it goes but everyone always loves to search for a deeper meaning.

Seems like JJaKji is the only player on the team that is gonna be winning tourneys.

The fact is that San once left NSHoseo to join a foreign team --->failed
Re-joined NSHoseo, then left again?????
He is not very likely to be picked up by a foreign team.

I'm honestly surprised he's still on the team. If I were EG or coL I'd have picked him up for sure. He's the youngest ever GSL champion, and though he's slumping right now, it seems like his stock is going up in the long term

It would be really sad to see NSH disband after so many "dark horse" victories and almost-victories. According to rumours, Seal has also lost motivation and is barely practising at all nowadays. It's sad but understandable, given how often he has been on the edge of breaking Code A and having his opportunity to shine. (That would explain why they played Brave and Salvation but not Seal against IM.) However, I also think that jjakji is not exactly doing a favour to himself by staying on a team where he lacks equally skilled practice partners and which can't afford to send its players overseas. Besides, how much room will be left for a small all-friends-team when KeSPA eventually comes crashing down in all tournaments?
As per korean talent being ignored by the other teams, I am under the impression that most teams aren't interested in investing in talent (or even proven players) if they are outside their lil' clique of friends. Nobody was interested in Taeja (who practiced from home) despite his performance and promising victories, but Clide was picked up instantly... just to leave a few months later to become, predictably, a coach. I suppose that money is quite a problem in Korean SC2.

NSHS will not disband unless they are unable to get new members. There must be some reason jjakji is staying that we are not seeing; maybe said reason can help them stay alive.

NSH...

I think he's just happy with the situation as it it - good friendships with coach and players alike. We should be glad that players aren't always looking for the biggest pay day to fill their bank accounts all the time.
Though on the other hand, I can sort of see why Hoseo can become a less attractive prospect for budding pro players. When Artosis visited, it was basically two big rooms - a practice area and the other a mass communal style bedroom. It was situated somewhere within a university campus. Even if the conditions are basically the same throughout pro houses in Korea, at least the others have a sense of home with where they are staying. I can see players who lose heart start to feel like they're trapped in a prison like environment.

How much does Hoseo University contribute to the team nowadays? Doesnt seem that much considering everyone is leaving.

This sucks. I really don't want to see NSHS fall apart. I had a hard time handling the loss of oGs. Please don't put me through that again

Man it sucks to see NSH losing players like this, I really love that team As with Sage, I'll continue to follow San wherever he ends up, hopefully he can find himself a good deal and be happy wherever he goes.

Also, I always thought San was terrible, so I hope NSHS's two new recruits are more promising!

San is the guy who has been given 2 groups of death in his career where he was considered so unlikely to make it out that no one even considered it a possibility. He has been 2-0 in those scenerios.

I wish all the best for the NSH team. They're one of my favourites to watch. Looking at their roster, one would usually rate them as the underdog in team leagues, but they deliver surprising results a lot of times.

When San puts in the hours he's easily one of the smartest Protoss players around with a unique style. His mechanics aren't a strong point, but he's clever enough to outsmart anyone.
Of course, he's still probably not a top 10 Protoss, but his intelligence makes him a valuable asset for team league and I imagine he's good to have for discussion in house.

Yep. And Artosis nick-named him Sad Zenith! Lol
He came good later though.

Hard times with the NSHS now, good luck with them and with San to find good team.
|
Gah I feel for them, especially Jjakji who is actually a star. I'm hoping they pull a TSL and revive strongly. They really need some Jjakji support. More team leagues so they can find themselves a hidden team league only bonjwa to eventually be a Code S contender everyone is scared of.
