How do you feel about making it to the Ro16?

I really feel dazed right now. All I remember is that I would always fall from the Ro32. I am really happy that I was able to make the Ro16 and I want to say that I am going to prepare extensively for my next match as well.

After seeing your group, how much of a chance did you think you had of advancing out as first?

Aside from the first game against Genius, I didn't even know what the maps were. I just grabbed some confidence and told myself that I would just do my plays and went for it. Whether I won or lost, I just really wanted to show my plays full of confidence. I feel like up till now, I've been too scared of my opponents and doubtful of myself.

In your match against Genius, you lost game one.

If I tell you that I wasn't shaken up mentally, then I would be lying. I was doing relatively fine in the beginning but then after just kind of dawdling around for a bit, I collapsed to his all in attack. It was constantly on my mind sure, but I worked hard to just focus on my next games.

When you saw that Rain was in the same group, what kind of thoughts did you get?

I just said "oh, another Protoss." I mean, I already knew that KeSPA players' skills are on par with us.

After facing Rain, how was it?

I think he's really good at implementing builds. I kept thinking to myself how freaking difficult this was as I was playing him. But since I had plenty of experiences with losing against KeSPA players, I wasn't really feeling burdened or anything.

You lost your first game against Rain disappointingly.

I saw that he went double nex so I thought it was going to be too easy and got greedy. When I saw his zealots enter my base, I prepared myself for the inevitable incoming loss. His play of building pylons beforehand was excellent. After the game was over I felt like it was such a shame that it ended that way.

In game two, your early attack was blocked so weren't you once again in a troubling situation?

I kept on thinking to myself that I was going to win this. I did think that I was in a disadvantageous situation, but I told myself that I held the initiative and decided that as long as I find some way to shake him up, eventually I would be able to find an opening.

Game three must have been difficult as well.

I was just dawdling around again and then realized I built my bunker late. I even knew what his intentions were but I still ended up becoming a victim to his attack. But my medivacs were able to get me the victory.

Was today's match vs Rain satisfying?

I don't feel content at all. Those were some terrible games with a lot of mistakes. I felt like we were fighting in some sort of mud pit.

Seems like IMHappy's plays aren't really macro styles anymore.

I'm not quite sure myself. I just play as my hands direct me to and I think it's just going to keep being that way from here on out. It's impossible to predict what's going to happen. I'm quite curious myself as to what kind of style of play I will be doing next (laughs).

What are your goals for this season?

My goal is to win my next matches. If I win my next match then my next goal is to win the next upcoming match.

The fans seem to be calling you an Android lately.

I don't think it's a bad nickname but it's somewhat unsettling. But I still think it's better than not having a nickname at all.

Anything else you would like to say?

All my teammates around me gave me advice and helped me out so thanks to them, I was able to win today. I really want to thank the coach and his wife. I also want to thank my family and friends for cheering for me. They're a huge source of strength. Lastly, I want to thank our sponsors LG, Googims, Steelseries, Coca-Cola, and Nvidia.

How do you feel about making it to the Ro16 of Code S?

I have so many games these days that I barely have time to practice. I had no idea I was only going to be playing PvTs. I am so glad that I was able to advance like this.

After experiencing Code S for yourself, what are your thought?

Everyone is really good. I think I'm going to have work on my stamina from here on out. There are so many games that it does get tiring. For the Ro16, I'm going to work on increasing my stamina.

What do you think about the Code S Ro32/Ro16 format?

I think it's fine. StarCraft 2 is so versatile that a single game just doesn't do it just. A bo3 really is good but I think some more adapting is needed.

The loss against Happy was a close one.

Initially when I came here, I came with the purpose of just having fun. But after I defeated ByuN and grabbed game one against Happy, I got greedy. After that, I just kept getting greedier. If I hadn't been impatient for game two, I would have been in a much better situation and regarding game three, I kept thinking about the loss in game two so I couldn't focus well.

Did losing the winners' round affect you?

The loss hurt a little more than I thought it would. It was because I constantly kept thinking that I had the advantage. But I told myself that it was an accomplishment within itself that I was able to create those kinds of advantageous situations for myself so I worked hard. After watching the losers' round, I was able to regain my composure.

You met ByuN again in the final round and game one was pretty fierce.

I really didn't think he was going to take the game to that late of a stage. He even had a ton of ghosts. I also met him with mostly high templars but he played a style that I hadn't experienced before so it was really difficult. It was definitely a game I could have lost.

Without a doubt, you have been increasing your levels these days.

Truth be told, I don't perform as well for practices but I do really well for tournaments. I feel like my tournament wins should be my practice wins. If I think back to the first time I came to the GSL studio and faced IMhorror, I can say that my skills have increased significantly.

Do you feel a kind of greed to make a splash in this season's Code S?

I got the thought that I am still lacking in the PvT area. I am going to need a lot of luck regarding my brackets. I am the lone KeSPA player so I worry about who else I am going to face.

You get to participate in the Ro16 Group Nominations. Is there a specific player you would like to face?

I don't really have a player I want to face. I just want to face a Zerg player. It wouldn't be such a bad thing to face DRG again after facing him in the OSL. I just don't want to play any PvTs (laughs).

Is there anything you do specially in order for your SC2 skills to progress?

Whether it be BW or SC2, when I was learning them from scratch, I would always carefully pay attention to other players' plays. With that kind of study method, my skills eventually get better and I end up developing my own style. I work hard to absorb every kind of play that's out there. It's really not an easy task to watch every VOD out there. Even right now, I am still watching VODs and replays as I think about my games.

Isn't the atmosphere for GSL different than the atmosphere for OSL?

The GSL offers a lot of games and I can play my kind of plays that I want to play. But OSL has a single game format so I don't think it fits well with SC2.

Tomorrow is the ProLeague playoffs.

For three days in a row, I have matches to play. But regarding individual leagues, I've won them all. If I lose in the ProLeague, I think I'm going to get shamed. I plan on returning to the team house as fast as possible to start preparing hard for the ProLeague. I have confidence in both SC2 and SC1.

Do you find yourself desiring the championship?

Truth be told, I haven't even made any goals for myself this season. I thought I would receive a Code A seed but they gave me a Code S seed. For now, I'm satisfied enough with a Ro16 appearance. My skills are still lacking so I am going to have to work even harder.

Probably means a 'robot'. IE. doesn't show emotion win or lose. Players like Happy and Curious, etc get a lot of 'hate' because they don't show emotional outwardly. Which is too bad because that is not the only way to have a 'personality'.

Love the answer from Happy. Really honest and insightful. Really shows why ESF players have a 'burden' when playing against Kespa players. Many people assume it is because ESF players feel they should be better and panic when they aren't getting ahead. When it is exactly the opposite, they know the top Kespa pros are on par with them (they play them plenty on ladder). But the fans expectation is that they SHOULD be winning and should be ashame if they don't. I think THAT is where the 'burden' is coming from. It is like going into an exam where you know you will do decent (like a B) but not great. However, your parents feel you should only be getting As all the time.

Sun was really stressing his dislike of the OSL format here.

I need to keep reminding myself that Sun is still playing BW for Proleague, It's amazing to see he can make it to the ro16 while still having to focus at least a tiny bit on BW matches.

Would be surprised if he practiced BW at all. Since he is in OSL, GSL as well as the Ace for PL which is SC2. His SC2 performance is much much more important than his BW.

Unexpected results today, but good to see that Sun will be in the GSL Ro16 group selections.

And it's pretty telling that even KeSPA players are now realizing that Bo3's are much better in SC2 than Bo1's.

Thanks for the translations!

For televised matches maybe, but with Kespa's training schedule, should not be a problem. They are used to long hour training and they have multiple Bo3s for qualifiers in BW as well.
