Boxer must have been offered at least 500K by SKT1 for the coaching knowledge.

The SKT fan in me is overjoyed while the SlayerS fan in me weeps.

Didn't BoxeR say he will manage SlayerS for only 3 years when he first started the team?

This is so odd. Perhaps this is a temporary placement where Boxer can get practice in a formal KeSPA house then return to Slayers later? There is that player lock until 2013 and KeSPA/GSL competitions seems to be few and far between. This is like Nazgul going to EG or something.

Lol he's going there to coach the players.

You misunderstand Boxer's relationship with SKT and Slayers.
Boxer spent most of his professional life creating, playing for and coaching for SKT so his roots are far far deeper to T1 than Slayers.

Don't care if BoxeR may not be at the very top skill-wise or whatsoever or if elitist BW fans are pissed about SKT1 getting a wider fanbase due to him transferring over back, it's just that some people like me just weren't into BW back then (most likely because we had something else to do and lots of SC2 players are certainly too young) and started with SC2... I watched BoxeR in TSL3 and was completely mind blown by his reputation and achievements and so started to follow his actions etc. ... And again, it doesn't really matter to me which team he is on, but if he will retire or not (as he stated not long ago). So what's up with that fan bashing? Don't get it...

It's a joke. Well...kind of.

T1 have the most annoying fans of all teams, mainly because of people who like Bisu a little too much, or talk more about their team looks than the games themselves.

Hey, hey. I'll fight totally fight you for that. Because Bisu is, like totally hawt.

But yeah T1 fans usually have to suffer (mostly) good-hearted ribbing from the other teams because some of our players are a little hit and miss (except when it isn't good-hearted.) Also Bisu created as many anti-fans as fans. I see your CJ symbol...

A mod-fight would be totally fun to watch, I'm not gonna lie.

Bit before my time, didn't even know about the BW scene when I played casually back in the day. Retrospectively viewing his games, how could anyone NOT be a Bisu fan?

Not at all, Nazgul didn't create EG.

But Slayers is the team he built for SC2 himself. His girlfriend helped organize and operate it into one of the more popular SC2 teams around. If the money was there that is understandable, but never the less it is odd he would leave his the SC2 team he built and ran from the start to go back to SKT who is farther behind developmentally in SC2 (as far as we know). Also, even as a coach he will still have to play a bit to stay relevant.

SKT is the team he built for Esports, not just SC1.
Besides I always got the feeling he started Slayers not for the sake of doing it but because he wanted to play in front of his fans again and at that time Kespa hadn't made the switch to SC2 public yet.

As of now, SKT and Slayers are still segregated so it's not like going to a competitor.

He didn't retire.

He stopped playing in favor of coaching. Nowhere is it stated he is a player-coach like in SlayerS. Even when he was in SKT it was never stated he was a coach.

Retire: To leave one's job and cease to work, typically upon reaching a certain age.
He is leaving his job but he is taking a new one. He is not ceasing to work.

Wasn't there a movement for KeSPA and GSL not to change players. Does that not apply to coaches?

Apparently not, 4 KeSPA teams now have coaches from GSL teams, and it seems to be a huge advantage. I don't follow proleague that religiously, but so far we have;

(T)Cezanne, ex oGs player/coach to Team 8
Ryu Won, ex SlayerS coach to Woonjin Stars
(T)Clide, ex SlayerS player to KT Rolster as a coach (this one was the most suspect one imo, but SlayerS seemed happy for him)

and now (T)BoxeR to SKT1

I don't remember exactly when Ryu Won joined Woonjin, but they were the best team in the first round of proleague. When Cezanne joined Team 8 for the second round they went from the 7th place team to the best, and I don't know if you've seen Jaedong play lately, but he's improving at an incredible rate.

I think it won't be long before the 3 teams that aren't Ace pick up a GSL player or coach to coach their team. ACE I don't know, they're not recruiting anymore but it would be amazing if they made an exception and got July or Nada to coach their team.

Ryo Won left SlayerS before he joined Woongjin, so there wasn't exactly like they poached him from SlayerS. (He said this is in an interview).

Boxer just setting the stage to merge SKT with Slayers down the line. I'm sure he realizes that a relationship with SK Telecom is the best way to ensure the long-term prospects of the Slayers team. It's much easier to renew that relationship than to find another big time sponsor.

I really wish for this to happen. I've been a massive SKT fan for as long as I can remember, but I've supported SlayerS too since day 1.

Idk if that's a good idea though.
Kespa teams value team results ten times as much as individual leagues results.
If those two teams merge then at least half of their members won't even get consideration for team leagues and Slayers already has a big roster.

As far as I know if you don't get sent out you probably don't make a lot of money so I guess it depends on how badly some of the players want to be paid or are willing to live in a teamhouse working diligently.

Hmm all this seems really weird to me. Here's a few thoughts:

1. Boxer and Jessica having relationship problems?
2. Boxer and ------- slayers player didn't get along and this happened?
3. Boxer wasn't as involved in the slayers team as much as we all thought, and things will just carry on as Jessica being the coach?
4. Somehow slayers and SK will merge in a way that is still allowed and isn't affected by the kespA/gom team merger rule?
5. Slayers is breaking up like oGs?

Just a few of my ideas, there's millions of other possibilities though.

i think he potentially needed the money
He was making like 300K a year during his BW days and then was still making bank to this day off of his name which got him and slayers sponorships. I doubt he needed the money, but im sure it is nice.

Figured this would be happening after his break cause of his injuries. The fact that boxer is the new SKT coach means nothing but loads of improvement for the team, but still sad to see the number 1 gaming icon that we all know and love stop playing professionally.
