It will depend on exactly when the GSL finals happens. If it's near the end of IPL then there is a decent chance someone will have claimed it from either Leenock or Sniper.

I think the reason they used team league was because the early GSLs had bo1 rounds so you would have to exclude all of those too

Well, the Unoficial Championship is won any time you beat the champion. In the BoX the one who wins the last game wins takes away the title. No need to change the rules, it's all done for fun.
this thread is called the unofficial champion for the very fact that the previous champ can lose it in one game, it makes it more interesting that way. nothing needs to be changed at all.

The next defense isn't nearly as simple as "Ryung vs Sniper". Sniper is also participating in the IPL5 winners bracket, so his next defense is the match against Glon. The bracket is played all the way up to WR6 before the GSL semis, so he may lose the title to Life, Leenock or Taeja, for example. The upcoming weekend will be crazy with the title possibly bouncing back and forth between tournaments. In the end, it will be held by the GSL champion, the GSLWC final game winner, or the IPL champion.
Whenever I see Sniper's name, I say it as if I am Jerry Seinfeld and saying the name "Newman." I have no idea how to duplicate that through typing, but let me just say that I am looking forward to Sniper being dethroned!
