From GomTV.net

Dear GOMTV.net users,

The summer is heating up in Korea as not much time is left before the Code S and GSTL Finals! Already the question arises… which players will prove that they are the best at Haeundae beach?

The road to next season’s Code S is getting tougher than ever too! Code A Round 1 has been completed and Round 2 starts today. I have no doubt in my mind that all the players will do their best to advance.

Make sure to look for the brackets for Code A Round 2!

In other news, forGG and GanZi have forfeited their match in the Code A round 2 due to personal reasons. Since both players informed us in advance as well as having proper reasons, the matches that they were to play will be simply handed as a loss. As a result, theStC and aLive will automatically advance to Code A Round 3.

Thank you.

I just saw this on Reddit. Apparently forGG gave up his Code A matches to go to the Millenium house.
Similar for GanZi and Col house?

Seriously, why Ganzi wants to live in the Col. house? I bet its not to practice with QXC and goswer... :D

btw If someone told me 6month ago that ForGG, aLive, TheSTC and Ganzi will ALL be on foreign teams right now, I would have laughed at them.

Is Korea losing it's dominance on ESports?? GSL is no longer top priority, foreigners beat koreans in tournaments (stephano), MMA wants to join a foreigner team..????

I think ForGG didn't bother cos he's going to the MillHouse soon to throw his career away XD

Ganzi is probably busy. He'll be going to MLG soon.

Thankfully I bet on aLive Assuming he's going to the coL house, I actually think this will be better for GanZi, even though he leaves behind the best league in the world. His play has been kind of stagnating of late, going to that awesome coL house with the superhero QXC and co, he should be refreshed and motivated to return to form. Remember viOlet actually improved dramatically after leaving Korea, which was seen as being unheardof. It's all about finding a place where you're happy to train I think!

That sucks. I guess he really wants to go to the Millenium house, then. It doesn't sound too bad, though, considering he would've played Mvp if he won his match, and I don't think he can beat Mvp yet.

Wouldn't consider it throwing his career away. It likely for finance reasons to allow him to continue playing full time.

GanZi is going to live in the complexity house, but I'm not sure why he would be leaving, though.

Is there a conflicting schedule with MLG & GSL?

While I agree I have a feeling he's going to be doing exactly what Dragon is now even though 4GG is way more skilled.

Probably going to attend more foreign tournaments, it's alot more lucrative than the GSL.

GSL is only good if you win, otherwise it's a huge time sink.

For the mothership of course. The house looks great, its awesome he is going to boot camp there. Perhaps CoL didn't recruit him to mercenary Korea, but to assist the rest of the roster. Like a team.

True but the reason why they will get any money outside Korea is because they competed in the GSL.

Perhaps they are starting to figure out that they will get more promotional potential (and salary) in a foreign team than if they were in a korean SC2 team. There's simply not enough companies willing to sponsor big time.

Plus it also lets them travel around, meet new people, find new opportunities.

I don't believe Ganzi's forfeit has anything to do with the recent complexity house, although I do not know 100% of the details.

Throw his career away? You kidding right Forgg will start to attend all the international tournaments and get alot of exposure. Also he gets to travel all around the world meeting new people, new fans etc. This is the best thing that could happend to Forgg.

I expect more and more Koreans will start forcusing on the international scene rather then the Korean scene. MMA just stated he wants to move to a foreign team

GSL is still the best sc2 tournament as of so far.... top koreans by far outclass top foreigners, maybe about 5 foreigners can be in code S...foreign teams give a salary unlike korean teams.. korea isnt losing its dominance at all.

Well both teams just joined non-korean teams so some change was expected to happen, sadly it had to be during their Code A matches. Hopefully nothing too serious.

foreigners beat koreans in tournaments

as in mainly just stephano, mma saying he wants to join a foreign team is him just lashing out, any sensible foreign team would not actually offer him a contract based on his skill level right now, publicity? sure but not because he will crank out the results

look at all the koreans that have gone west to live there, Sleep Rain Dragon the other X6 korean zerg (can't remember his name right now) they've all dropped off hardcore, why? because the west isn't Korea

Also Code A is pretty low priority compared to Code S

Same

They probably, just didn't see themselves winning the matches and as stated they both have other plans to be getting on with. It's the Up and Downs iirc? They will still have a Code A slot for next time if that is the case, they can keep it open and come back later if they want.

ForGG just took "Mill" off his stream name. The plot thickens.

top korean far outclass top foreigners?
while huk was in korea he kept up.
naniwa went toe to toe with drg. reaching top 8 2x in a row I think?
stephano just 4 2 mc, 4 0 alicia and consistently beats top koreans...

I'm not kidding, I think ForGG is good enough to be in a Korean team and be sent to international events.

I just don't think that Koreans benefit from the way foreign teams are less strict (Look at Complexity's Koreans) and I don't want to see him fall off but I was mostly referring to the fact that he's joined a relatively lackluster euro team which has rumors of losing their best player when his contract ends.

Plus no-one knows the reasoning behind the MMA fiasco yet so we can't assume any reasoning as to why he wants to move to a foreign team when he could easily move to another Korean one.

Only the tip top Euros can really consistently challenge top Koreans. Huk has fallen off for a while now. Naniwa and Stephano are probably the only ones I can think of that compete at a Code S level time and time again.

its a societal thing. NA hates gamers still. europe more accepting.
dont forget stephano is american.

& foreigners are foreigners. foreigners beat koreans somewhat often. didn't sheth reach ro16 code a?
its not right to say foreigners can't keep up, then revert and day americans cant. they will in time. once eg starts acting professional instead of frat house

I can't help but feel a little bit of contempt for these players. I cannot help but think that they took the "coward's way out" when it comes to being a pro-gamer in Korea. It seems to me that they only care about money and less about skill, so instead of sticking to it when things get rough, they flee to their foreign team houses in hopes that they can win foreign tournaments and get more money. Honestly, it's not a bad choice, however, a lot of times, korean pro-gamer career decisions are very uninformed and irrational. (I can really only think of two, maybe three korean players that have actually gotten better when joining a foreign team) Basically, they see an opportunity where they can slack and choose to slack instead of sticking to the rough times, but in the end, slacking will not improve one's success. (which I can't really fault them for, but it is a little bit disappointing to see) I guess we'll just have to see how this will turn out for them, as ganzi and forgg are probably going to forfeit the rest of their GSL matches and drop to code b. As ex-bw pros, I would've expected both these players to be a little more rigid when it comes to pro-gaming in Korea, but I guess they only care about results, at this point, as they are getting ready to go to the army.

"international scene"? As if it's so prestigious. Apparently they aim for some little easy money before becoming completely washed-out. And it's not that easy with dudes like DRG boarding planes so often.

foreigners beat koreans in tournaments

as in mainly just stephano, mma saying he wants to join a foreign team is him just lashing out, any sensible foreign team would not actually offer him a contract based on his skill level right now, publicity? sure but not because he will crank out the results

look at all the koreans that have gone west to live there, Sleep Rain Dragon the other X6 korean zerg (can't remember his name right now) they've all dropped off hardcore, why? because the west isn't Korea

Also Code A is pretty low priority compared to Code S

On the other hand, if viOlet can still manage to stomp people while living in the US, I'm sure other Koreans will be fine if they still maintain their practice schedule with good practice partners. (And ofc you mentioned Stephano.)

In the end, it'll really be up to the player and his own dedication. We'll see what happens.

Also, MMA, even in a slump, is still a heavy contender for Code S. This without mentioning his added name value; he's one of the most marketable Korean SC2 pros out there.

"relatively lackluster euro team" Wtf? You know nothing about Millinium. Millinium the team and there site is the biggest esport newslets in french. Its also one of the richest teams in the scene!. And they one of the few foriegn teams that got a pro house. But the most important thing is Millinium is a talent factory. They produced amasing players like Huk,Stephano,Feast.

Dragon has also begun to show massive improvements and I expect Forgg with his work ethic to be a powerhouse in EU soon. This is the best move Forgg could have done for himself.

You know nothing about Millinium and reading you other comments it seems you know nothing about the european pro scene aswell.

You mean being able to attend to foreign events and not be stuck in GSL code A ?

It's funny how people underestimate Millenium both as a team and a business. They are the biggest esport website in europe, one of the wealthier team and have a huge following crowd in France.

Dragon is improving lately.

This is actually country relevant, while in certain country gaming might be more accepted in society, it is not the case everywhere. In France for example it is absolutely not, mentioning your passion for videogame makes you struggle in highschool social life, or to get girls for example, the opinion that gaming is a nerdy activity for social loser is really strong in french people.

Here's what Millenium wrote on its site concerning ForGG's forfeit :

*le joueur Millenium a décidé de déclarer forfait par respect pour ses adversaires, sachant qu'il ne pourra pas terminer la compétition à cause de sa venue à la Gaming House en France.

Roughly translated : "Millenium's player decided to forfeit RO32 out of respect for his opponent as he'll not be able to keep competing after this round due to his stay in the Millenium gaming house in France during the next few weeks."

Funny how the only people 'outraged' by my honest comments are the Millenium fanboys. The only notable player they've created is Stephano.

I know they're the biggest in France but you actually don't hear anything from them. Believe what you will though, you can't distinguish opinions from unfounded hating either way.

If he is leaving and not going to compete in GSL next season, he did the right thing by forfiting the match. People are getting to caught up on the issue and looking for drama that isn't there. All parties involved seem to be happy, received enough notice and are going their seperate ways.

The community gets way focused on looking for what "players did wrong", rather than if their actions really harmed anyone. This seems like a really professional, manner way of handling a player moving and not being able to finish out a season.

Lol ForGG has probably been the most overrated player in Starcraft II history. Gets to Code S once and then falls straight back down to Code A, only to end up later in one of the weakest foreigner teams sans Stephano and then decides to leave Korea for France lol.

Pretty sure he played more than once in Code S. (none the less still falling in the RO32.)
