His dad passed away...rather you not to assume something disrespectful with baseless evidence.

Wanna build a career as anything? well too bad you have to waste 2 years of your life doing nothing and when you get back you can't compete anymore. Well, they do have a bunch of crazy fucks right next to them and who knows what they will do. I'm not a fan of conscription at all, but I can see why South Korea needs it. A couple years isn't that long anyways although I agree, it does suck for the progamers, which is probably why most of them wait until they are in their late 20s to finally go in.

Actually, mandatory military service is common in many countries around the world. It's considered a civic duty, not much different than jury duty or paying taxes.

A couple isn't that long? Do you know how devastating it is for athletes or even entertainers to have to stop all activity for 2 years, it's basically a career ender. The sad thing is that some of those people probably still had a good career before leaving, they don't when they come back.

I can't think of a single first world country that still has an archaic mandatory military service like South Korea does (maybe Japan? not sure). South Korea is like top 5 richest country in the world. So yes, it is very uncommon.

Well, if they hate that aspect of their country so much then they can just refuse to go in. They just can never go back to South Korea again after doing that.
