Team StarTale Kim “RainBOw” Sung Je is to leave for the army on the 26th June 2012 to fulfill his military service. We hope to see the Korean Terran player make an impressive comeback to the Starcraft 2 pro-gaming scene on his return from service.
Together with his partner and fellow StarTale player Aphrodite RainBOw will be having a party before leaving for his military service.
The source of this information is through James Banks, owner of D-eSports and StarTale European manager He got the information from Kevin Cho – Startale manager.

Rainbow recently did great in one of all SEA+International tournaments, winning the winners bracket then finishing #2 losing only to TSLHyun for $200. Hyun was kinda bm (i think he fell asleep) and turned a 5min given break into a 45 min wait where he became uncontactable but rainbow was super mannered throughout and very patient.
He was really sad about the lost but we will always be rooting for you SC1 legend Rainbow~

Don't know if he'll be able to do that since he'll have to go through KeSPA. It's not a private team like the others are, KeSPA says who is and isn't allowed to do service. Besides he might not even do Air Force.
Hope he can play for ACE... they could really learn a lot from him and apart from this he also wouldn´t be the worst choice in terms of SC: BW... would really love to see him kicking someones ass with his impressive reaver/shuttle mico...
would be cool to see him maybe be able to participate or partner up with team ACE while he is serving his service. Hopefully its one of those military services were he just works in an office!
I never really got why people hated his new username. I found Hopetorture insanely awesome. With that said, I look forward to him owning up after his military stint. My favorite terran player.
Also, hopefully with esports having advanced so much and stuff (and him already having a decent stream!) he will come back and still be interested in being a progamer! After all his girlfriend is a progamer now too.
I remember back then in his interviews, he said he was only good at SC2 (in GSL opens) because of his BW skill, and he had a job and really was playing more just for fun. From the interview it didn't seem he was quite happy (not too interested in progaming). He said he didn't practice much, and he still had to do military service, so he would just basically keep playing until the others' higher practice hours allow them to pass Rainbow and skill (basically if Rainbow can't stay in GSL anymore)
Reading that, I really hoped Rainbow wouldn't get knocked out, but I saw him get ripped apart by Leenock (the first time they faced off, rainbow ripped Leenock...) and was really sad. So now he's not been able to requalify for the GSL ever
Well now with change of things (he can make money by twitch and stuff, SC2 becoming bigger cus of BW switching over, and foreign teams having lots of money, he is engaged to a girl progamer), perhaps after his military service he will be refreshed and either find a new will to keep playing or what seems to be an old passion will be brought back to life ^^

Unfortunately he can't. He said he won't be able to play SC2/games with the position he has in the army. Though I hope maybe even occasionally he can play... even if it's like once every few months. So I'm guessing he's not in the airforce ;(

Who remembers when he streamed with aphrodite, playing team games, and answered that she was in diamond 1v1 on Korea? (to which the stream was impressed, even though she seemed a lot worse than that in the team games, since rainbow was always helping her to control her army or using her units, etc.)

Even with this script that twitch moderators made, for getting the links to old VODs (the VODs are still hosted on twitch, but are just not shown some reason... including the content of a broadcast that is longer than 2 hours...), I still don't have all the videos, though I have about 100 (his channel says he has like 65 but it only shows like 30). But there should be like 200 or so ;O
