You have to provide some kind of evidence/proof (screenshots/replays etc.) if you are going to accuse somebody. Additionally, a supporting comment of what people should be looking for and when will be necessary if you are posting replays/evidence.

If it keeps up like this, I'll be GM by the end of the summer because I'll be the only one practicing! As I said earlier: People need to stop throwing around "witch hunt", "lynch mob" and "pitchforks" on this forum. There is absolutely nothing in this thread that could be remotely compared to a witch hunt. Keep us updated on your attempt to get into GM.

Having large contiguous areas of the map revealed is actually much easier for the protocol than having multiple smaller regions sent over. From my understanding, you are actually sending most of the game-state - the problem is solved not by withholding the data for the location of the units. Instead, you send the encrypted data for your units and then selectively send the encryption keys as needed so that your opponent can see your units in the region they should be visible in. For a scan, assuming that the units occupy the same hypergrid cell, the result would be a single encryption key being sent over.. Well, in that case it's even worse. Continuously sending the current game state (encrypted) over the net is no more viable than sending parts of it on demand. There are just too many units involved in SC2. The paper focuses a lot on solving the cryptographic problem of when to lift the fog of war, and goes to length to show how efficient their algorithm is, but it does not mention that it requires a completely different network architecture than SC2 currently uses, an architecture that is so inefficient that I don't think it would be possible to use. This blog discusses exactly this problem: http://www.altdevblogaday.com/2011/07/09/synchronous-rts-engines-and-a-tale-of-desyncs/

People are actually bringing in legitimate proof and some asshole has the nerve to accuse people of witch hunting? jesus..

That's awesome :D now we can use this as a way to persuade people that it's definitely not true that blizzard "doesn't care" or that "reporting does nothing", etc. You understand it took a 30 page thread on TL, likely hundreds to thousands of messages to Blizzard directly from Reddit and TL to get one hacker banned...

NEW UPDATE: Impa is now in bronze league, Blizzard has to be the ones demoting him according to his match history he hasnt been able to play for hours, my guess is that he IS banned http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/profile/275464/1/Impa/ Blizzard is one awesome company; "well, we won't ban you, but i guess we can just demote you for the fun of it." glad to see Blizzard paying attention to this.

Yea, people going "OMG BlIZZ KARE LOL THEY KARE!!!!!!!" Need to calm down. It's pretty ridiculous that the community needs to do so much to cover for Blizzard's laziness/incompetence. They got rid of one of possibly dozens of hackers in GM league alone. If anything this entire fiasco just shows how much Warden sucks.

They need to update Warden(or whatever Anti-Hack tool they're using) so that you can choose to voluntarily run the program, which(if your computer is clean) will give you a "Clear" mark which makes you eligible to play in the online cups. . I dont think that would work, the hack is a small 200KB file that you can just delete or compress and then run that test and then put the hack back.

Put some thought into both sides of the situation. Blizzard does care, whether you believe it or not; they take a strong stance against hacking in every game they create. It's much more difficult to defend against the hackers when they're the ones behind a curtain, able to continually produce new hacks. Blizzard lost a lawsuit regarding Wardens functions and now they can't scan your computer for internal and external hacks anymore; making this problem much more difficult to deal with. What you should take away from this, is that the Community's concerns are acknowledged, and that you have no idea what you're talking about.

Legal actions have been taken up against Blizzard's RAM scanning, for privacy reasons, as far back as its first implementation - in the World of Warcraft alpha test, to watch if users were breaking their confidentiality contract. Within days of the beta test new lines were added to World of Warcraft's EULA. Easily could put it in their TOS to allow them to do this. People don't like it? They can return it.

Hacking is pointless unless you are at a lan with your buddies and all of you are hacking and just having a good time. What is the point of hacking in a highly competitive game like Stacraft II? I never understand why people do it other then to just troll people.

It's funny how people will get frustrated with others... for being frustrated. Either that or they will whine about people whining. You have 1000 posts and yet you seem extremely new to the concept of the internet, a forum or TL. People are going to argue about things. When people say stupid things, others will get upset. I don't think linking a Bob Marley song is going to help that. And if you really took it to heart you wouldn't be shouting "THE FUCKER GOT BANNED"!

Oh yeah, I remember this - don't hackers get banned and then their profiles get demoted to a special Disney Land Bronze league forever. Didn't this happen the last time when there were loads of EG.Idras doing the 'you were dropped' hack last year? Such a small gesture but so effective.
