Today we're extremely proud to announce Dan "ViBE" Scherlong will be joining our family!
We have known this for a little while now, Dan is a good friend of a lot of us in ROOT Gaming as well as a fantastic and an incredibly talented player.
we first set eyes on ViBE in the beta, where he came out of nowhere and showed his incredibly high apm was accompanied by a brilliant brain! unfortunately for us, when we decided to pick him up, sixjax had already contracted him and we got left without a ViBE.
Today ViBE finally joins ROOT!!!!
Danny streams very often, lately he's been playing D3 like everyone else but this doesn't mean that he wont go back to sc2 soon, so please support him and show him we love him by tuning into his stream!
Although there isnt any doubt that ViBE is one of the best players in NA, I believe he still has plenty of unrealized potential and at ROOT I think we can help him become absolutely, invincible.

There you used to be an old ROOT/EG "rivalry" but it was sort of one-sided in ROOT's favor, I remember them 4-0'ing EG in the Master's Cup before disbanding. EG has gotten some heavy talent since then though.
For now, baby steps. ROOT can slowly climb it's way back up no problem and Vibe is a great addition.

Yeah, they won't win any major tournaments, at least not as presently constructed. They are kind of the NA All-Star team though. I remember the Winter Arena NA qualifier was nearly all ex-ROOT players.

Haha yeah. ViBE isn't strong mechanically at all. And there is no way in fucking hell he has 300 EAPM. Even BW zergs doesn't get up in that high EAPM and I doubt some foreigner semi pro does it in SC2. He may have 300 apm but that is nothing impressive and when you watch ViBE you can see that most of it is just spam and useless actions.
Being able to do the spacebar-queen-trick so your apm skyrockets and your screen bounce around like I don't know doesn't equal good mechanics or fastest multitasking. ._.
Cool that ROOT is building up a lineup again tho. gl dodz
EDIT: Looked up some replays of ViBE in sc2gears and he avarages 145 EAPM with 400 apm. He had over 300 micro apm. Thats alot of apm from his queen trick and just mouse click spamming. BW zergs and just fast SC2 zergs has over 200 EAPM with 300-500 apm. So ViBE is noway near being one of the most mechanically and fastest multitaskers in the game.

Root did indeed break up, with most players being acquired by coL, but now that their contracts with coL have expired, as well as other former members of Root being teamless (SLush, KiWiKaKi from ReIGN and Destiny from Quantic), they decided to reunite, and give Root Gaming another try. So basically, it is the same Root Gaming.

sorry for taking a while to put up a message but d3 has consumed all my time the last couple days, I'm really looking forward to being an official root member and I have always wanted to pursue this but the times never matched up well... but now they do! I'm excited for what is to come with root.

They're friends. You're not going to replace friends with random people just because they can't consistently perform on an absolute top level. And you're most certainly not going to replace them because random people on forums think they're not (or can't be) good enough. Just follow another team instead. -_-
Besides, the "great personalities" thing is overstated. Destiny and CatZ are what the SC2 community would call "personalities" nowadays (and even that is mostly only while streaming). All the other members are fairly quiet/withdrawn (including ViBE now).

That was so long ago...I think that's his point. Used to it might have meant something to be the best NA player but the Korean gap isn't as close as it used to be if you look at performances within the last 6 months especially. I don't think the ROOT players are going to compete at that level but the fact is, there aren't many players in NA who have a real shot at going deep in those tournaments on a consistent basis.

it doesnt matter if they can or cannot compete. Root has no sponsors, so signing players is great but at the end of the day you're still = to little johnny's clanX. a bunch of ametures wishing they could make a living playing a game.

Since when do we consider top GM level players "amateurs"?
Not to mention they have one of the bigest personality's under the banner like CatZ,Destiny and kickass caster like Rotterdam.So i don't think it will take long before they find a sponsor.(sponsor's im hoping for).Winning tournaments isn't everything you know?!

Verne, wrong, we're a bunch of good friends that already make money well over the average of a progamer by playing starcraft 2 therefore --> a bunch of progamers who are all good friends and want to recreate the team enviroment we had before when we were considered hands down the best team in NA, we want to have fun, we want the community support, and of course we want sponsors, cause not everyone of our members will be making as much as Destiny makes, and they are fantastic players we want to keep happy, so we're working on numbers and budgets and a sponsorship deck and an AWESOME website, everything we need to approach sponsors in a successful manner! so im really sorry, im sure you're a really smart person and all that, but you couldn't be more wrong, we are progamers who already make a good living playing a game, we CAN and will compete, and we would destroy the living hell out of johnny's clanX.
