nope.that is a "home" rather Take's studio, which pretends to be a home, where they host such events. the bar underneath is not directly connected

I moved to Paris recently, and now I have the incredible luck of living just a couple of blocks away from this place. And yes, its absolutely amazing =). The only minor downside is, like most bars in france, they dont have anything to eat... I know thats normal here but, oh, how I miss the sweet south american way of having tacos, chorillanas and a long etc. in the bars...

Dude - franchise this mother like Hard Rock Cafe and make your next location Amsterdamn!

i don't care lol

this is really intriguing from a business perspective.
the most important thing for bars is typically getting girls in them which in turn bring in the guys.
this has the thing that most dudes like 2nd to girls which is video games, and thanks to places like twitch.tv and the global nature of sc2, there is never a time when multiple streams aren't online.
this is a great idea, and i hope it works out well. best of luck!

To all of you speaking about other venues across the world (Australia, Germany, UK) we would just like to point out that we are the first one aiming that much at eSports and the scene. I've been to the Kyoto lounge multiple times. Its a gaming bar. Thats its primary purpose. It is a bar, with gaming. There is nothing about it that speaks to some sort of dual purpose. The bar, and the gaming at said bar, are the reason the place exists.
Frankly speaking, I'd respect you and your marketing a lot more if you simply admitted the error. You said gaming bar, you said first, and you put the two together.
You were not the first. In fact, the one in Berlin is also not the first, if the previous poster is correct in stating it has been open 6 months. The Kyoto lounge opened two years ago. It is a bar, they serve drinks, host tournaments and host barcrafts, and they market to a gamer crowd, therefore they have games.
I have nothing against you or your establishment. I wish you every success, but frankly speaking, you're trying to redefine what the term "Gaming Bar" means, to suit your own purposes. Its a No True Scotsman argument and it is logically inconsistent. Just please, admit that you were not the first gaming bar in Europe. It will do you far more good to show what reasonable people you are, and concede that point, than it will to continue arguing with me and others, all of whom know of older and more established gaming bars than your own.
Is the Kyoto Lounge the first gaming bar in Europe? I don't know. I have absolutely no idea. But thats fine because they're not claiming to be. They may not even be the first gaming bar in the UK, although to my knowledge they are in fact the first gaming bar in Europe. I state ambiguity only because I can't be certain and don't want to make a false claim.
But what they most certainly ARE, is a gaming bar, and one with a longer history than yours.

Fix the headline. It's not the first The place in Berlin, and to a lesser extent the one in Manchester both seem like primarily gaming centers that also have a bar in the same building (Berlin) or serve drinks (Manchester). Neither seems like a place you'd go just for a drink without intending to play. Meltdown is much more like a bar with the option to play a bit if you feel like it.
I went to the Kyoto lounge, had a drink, with friends, and didn't play, this very afternoon. Even got some decent music recommendations from the barman. Its perfectly suitable for that. Please try and avoid claiming things of places you haven't been to.

first, he said they're the first one aiming at X. you don't know what exactly their aim was nor the specific aim of the kyoto bar which you are taking it upon yourself to defend.
second, had he put "to my knowledge, we are the first....," your whole post would be unnecessary.
they're obviously excited about this new bar, and we should be happy they are part of the TL community and are adding to the thread. do we really need to make an ordeal about who was the first at this point?
now, if you see huge billboards with "first gaming bar," etc next time you're in paris, i think it'll be a better argument at that point.
everyone seems to be pretty pumped about this, and there's no reason to try and **** on it as soon as possible.
edit: lol...just realized the title of the thread contains "first gaming bar," but i'm going to stand behind my statements regardless.

As a french master-racer coming back from the bar, i think it would be awesome to have a stream of the bar (games + bar) for all TLers during thursday to saturday. The world needs to know how good that bar is.

Just tried it for a few drinks! Well it was nice, good cocktails and SC2 on all the walls I'll definitly spend a few nights there again!
One comment though, I thought the music was a bit loud (especially skrilex-like music...). Anyway it's a nice idea and nice bar.
