sure it's an expansion but still a full game, we are getting new campaign, new MP, new challenges (probably), new maps, new ladder, new achievements, new portraits (probably). Blizzard could easily sell this as a $60 game because it's basically a standalone from WoL but they are being nice guys and dropping it down to what expansions normally sell for. Think of HotS as Black Ops 2, and WoL as MW3, different games but play exactly the same.

Afaik WoL will be required to play HotS. They have to consider that when they price their product, it will be in fact an expansion, not a stand-alone game.

No, it is not a 60$ game. They didn't need to create an engine for it, or editor or set up servers for online play. They just used already existing basics and added some art and some new sounds and animations.

Historically, Blizzard always released the expansion within a year of the original on. This happened in WC, WC3, SC1, Diablo 2, WoW, which are pretty much all games they made. I'm shocked that they already took 1 and a half year to release HotS.

He means at MLG. They have HotS stations where you can play HotS. MLG starts today, so one would assume that the HotS stations are also open today.

No one knows about any specifics. However, JP got an early preview, and he seems to be impressed.
I would love to see the full pre-rendered cutscene of that ZvT battle that they teased in their Blizzcon 2011 trailer. That was some epic stuff right there.
