Seriously.

I am a LS fan, have been since I watched his first 24 marathon.

Yes I know he cheated
Yes I know he BM's
Yes I know there are better players

But it doesn't matter. The kid moved to Korea because he wants to be the best. He is living in another country trying to make this shit work. I can respect the hustle and the grind, and he is pretty good to boot. If he gets on a Korean team, I'm fairly confident he will get into code A. I did some pretty stupid shit when I was young. Unless he cheats in SC2 I don't see what the problem supporting him and wanting him to do well.

So you are saying he is BM, has cheated, and there are better players (many better players), and he still deserves an invite because he plays in Korea?

Well shit everyone should just fly on over there if thats the only thing that matters in invites.

Except that he has several replays of him beating Korean GMS and is really good if you watch his stream(Which you obviously never watched)

Oh now if you can beat those you should be invited?
And yes I have watched his stream. Which is why I am against him being invited.

No where in my post did I say he deserved anything.

Ok, no, literally, in your post, you never said "he deserves this". But you implied it. And if you didnt imply it then I have no idea why you made that post. Or what it even meant besides he is a hardworker (which I never said he wasnt).

LS did something foolish as a 14 year old adolescent, and is still blacklisted. I'm glad that what I did as a 14-y/o didn't hamper my ability to find a job once I became of age. I'm all for the community taking a strong stand on bad behavior, but I'm not sure it's right to try LS as an adult here and give him a lifetime ban. If I'm missing something else here, then please fill me in.

People are mad because he got the invite for the sole reason that he is Day9's buddy, provides him replays for dailies etc. That is a fact. But still, inviting him generated lots of conversation. And all publicity is good publicity i guess. I hope he does well, but won't hold my breath.

Is it actually a fact ? Are they really friends ? Didn't ls publically released his replays and not just gave them to Day9 ?

Yes Day9 said in his daily he asked LS for replays and LS started playing games and sent the approriate ones to day9 that same evening. I'm not bashing anyone and don't really care but that still is a fact.

That answers the less important question. I still have no idea if they are actually friends ?

Anybody in a tournament of this level should be able to beat Korean GM's on ladder consistently: that's not a criterion that merits an invite, it's something that any pro player can do. There's a ton of players, well-known and "unknown," that can do the same thing; why aren't they getting invites?

And for the record, I watch LS's stream and have reviewed/casted a lot of his replays. He's good, but he's not great. He's not even a top 15 foreigner Terran.

Scarlett has actually posted results though.

I completely agree with what you said about him beating Korean GMs ON LADDER. I think people forget that ladder isn't a tournament, and you rarely see the crazy-refined play that you do in a tournament.

If LS does well in this tournament then good for him. If he fails as hard as people expect him to do, then a lot of people are going to be even more pissed at Day9. I just hope future tournaments learn from this.

Scarlett deserves an invite more than LS, and I'd be psyched if she'd gotten one, but if I'm objective, I have to acknowledge that there are other players that deserve it more than her. It would be essentially the same issue that we're having now with LS (less accomplished player getting invite over more deserving one because of marketability/bias).

I didn't imply anything. Any indication of that you’re getting is a biased and incorrect assumption on your part. This thread is filled with people who are upset that was invited, and more-so people who seem to just bash him every chance they get. I wanted to change the dynamic of this thread and show that he does have fans who appreciate his play and his story and don't care about his past transgression or lack of results. The fact remains he is one of the only team-less foreigners trying to make it in Korea, and one with a very high potential.

I disagree with the Lastshadow invite as well, but don't weaken your own argument by suggesting Idra. The guy has a sub 33% winrate for the year

i copied my post from reddit with some edit so you understand FUCKING READ IT !:

On some of those 3 shows by djwheat and jp (sotg, lo3, itg) they talked about how hard it is to get known in starcraft and that Scarlett had to beat top top Koreans to get at least a little known. So they basically talked about how hard it is to get far in the mlg open brackets and how its hard to get known as a lesser player .

after that they said: we have to support them more so , the top shoudln't be that stagnant and need some new wind.

But as soon as our lovely Day has the balls to get lastshadow, everybody cries and bitches. So it seems that people do not really want to give newcomers a chance.

Important is: that even another 4th American (it had to be a foreigner afaik ) would have been knocked out of the group ,same as ls is probably going to be knocked out . Take any EG player f.e, incontrol, idra or machine. Nobody would say a word about them getting invited, but they would also die in that group.
So instead of inviting a known American who will fail as he did in other events, why don't we give a lesser known player a chance.

Example: I would rather see jecho than idra, because as explained both wouldn't probably get out of their group, but rather give new players a shot.

Written on phone sry for mistakes .

newcomers have to prove themselves before they start getting invited, LS hasn't proved himself enough to be in an elite tourney with multiple GSL title winners and finalists, LS's appearance here will only be worse in the long run for newcomers as no one will want to drop the LS bomb again - Scarlett would have been a better invite, she has proven herself in a real tourney against koreans and good players and she would suit the newcomer tag, LS isn't really a newcomer, he's just a guy who has won some ladder games and attended 1 MLG, it's bad because he is taking the flak for this when it should be whoever gave his invite the green light

The thing is that it's very hard to prove yourself as a "not so well known player" (because people say he is not a newcommer , i didn't mean like totally new , but w/e) , ESPECIALLY when you are not in the US. He is living in Korea , without a team and money to play to even try mlg, besides that , what team would pay a flight so someone can try himself in open bracket lol. So the only way he could prove himself was at the very beginning when he moved to korea and attended the CodeA qualifiers (shortly after the move !!! ) and i also believe shortly after race change??? however he wasn't able to prove himself anywhere so we can't say he does not really deserve it because of skill.

Scarlett? yes ofc why not.. same as i said about Jecho. give them a shot. the difference between scarlett and ls IN THIS CASE is that she had the posibility to go to mlg(open) and he did not.

I'm an LS fan too, but that doesn't mean I can't be objective and admit that he probably doesn't belong there and it's unfair that he's getting the spot. I'm looking forward to watching his games, but the tournament would be better for everyone who isn't an LS fan if someone better was in his spot.

Read the thread, people have been talking about it for more than a week.

Also, it's sort of expected that the talk about a tournament would pick up right before it; I didn't even look at this thread until after I watched SotG and realized the tournament was happening tomorrow.

I'm an LS fan too, but that doesn't mean I can't be objective and admit that he probably doesn't belong there and it's unfair that he's getting the spot. I'm looking forward to watching his games, but the tournament would be better for everyone who isn't an LS fan if someone better was in his spot.

did this LS bs came even up before incontrol said something
or are you guys just jumping on the wagon?

Read the thread, people have been talking about it for more than a week.

Also, it's sort of expected that the talk about a tournament would pick up right before it; I didn't even look at this thread until after I watched SotG and realized the tournament was happening tomorrow.

Agreed. I don't think his skill realistically matches the caliber of player that is in the remaining 15, but none-the-less, he was given this opportunity and I think he should make the best of it. Even if he comes in last that’s $500 more that he can use to help out in Korea.

No one was arguing about that. We were arguing whether he deserved a spot. And for you to come in and say "oh but he is a hard worker" and then say" but im not implying anything" is just stupid and unnecessary.

No one was arguing about anything with me. I simply made a statement to the fact that I am a fan of his and glad he gets a chance to play. Again, you're assuming my intention was to say he deserves to be there which is absurd. I don't really care who goes, because I'm in no position where it really matters to me.

Incontrol’s argument is much more valid than your own. In all fairness, someone like Geoff should have been invited over someone like Nick. But that's not what happened. If Inc can be mature about this, why can't you? Are you upset that Day9 didn't invite you to this tournament? I’m not really sure why your're so hostile to the idea of a so called undeserving player being invited other than the baseless claim that the games won’t be any good. How can you be certain of this? Who are you actually upset with? LS for taking an opportunity to advance his career, or perhaps Day9 for giving a struggling player a chance to shine?

The problem with this tournament is because it is invite only. That is the main reason Lastshadow is getting all this flack.

If all these players had gone through a qualifier no one would make a peep. Due to it being invite only it loses some of its legitamicy.

Of course Ostojiy is the same. He has accomplished about as much as Lastshadow. Then again Ostojiy does not have a tainted past which I suspect is the reason he is not being focused on as much. Only noteworthy achievment is making it into pool play in a 2012 MLG tournament.

Guys, you're hurting eSports. Please be patient. Just ONE MORE DAY and we'll see how LS does. You're much like children.
