Also, you guys are jerks. I did the best I could. And can't really remember saying 'Gamet har begint'. Ever. I'm sorry if any of my comments seemed rude, or in any way came across as insulting against you or your cocaster(s?). I happen to enjoy casting in English more, especially Apollo's, and that's the only reason I was hoping for them to keep Apollo as the caster on the TV broadcast. Anyone who dedicates time to eSports deserves respect.
Obivously I prefer english casters over swedish as well, including myself ^^;

Edit: Ok this is a little bit better than what I read at first. Its the "final games" they will air on tv. Probably semi aswell then.
Ehm, it's amazing because it's the first time they have ever done it, and a big step towards even greater things to come. You didn't expect them to dedicate and entire day of broadcasting to SC the first time they try it?
|
Sweden, the first country ever to broadcast Esports on international TV? I don't know about SouthKorea though, have they broadcast SC:BW on international TV or did they only do it on cable/none international TV.
EDIT: and yes this is fucking huge obviously.

I fucking love SVT!
This prolly wouldn't have happened if it was owned by private people (like som people want it to be), they would've most likely showed Jersy Shore or something else that makes you stupid.

That is so awesome! Sweden seems to love e-sports!! They're like the second country to broadcast e-sports after Korea right? Good to hear that non-gamers love to watch!!
|
I envy you swedes so much right now Not to mention its on a free channel so its open to a (potentially) large viewer base.

finally i can start feeling ashamed for not paying the "Radio- och TV-avgift"... (a "semi-cumpulsory" TV/Radio tax)

I've never understood why people pay for that shit, they're basically asking us nicely to pay taxes.

For those of you asking, maybe you already got the answer but it will be sent on SVT 2.

Doesn't get any more swedish than that.

But I wonder how big will this actually be (if anyone knows this yet)?! Will it be broadcasted on the main channel which the average Swedish spectators watches? Seems it hasn't been decided. Probably depends on scheduling of that given weekend and so on... SVT has two "main" channels: SVT1 and SVT2. They also have SVTb which is a childrens channel, and Kunskapskanalen/knowledge channel) which shows documentaries and such. SVTb and Kunskapskanalen share the same channel(children during morning/day and docu during evenings). In addition to these channels there is SVT24 where news are broadcast every hour and where a lot of recent minor sport broadcasts have been placed. I would say that it's reasonable to believe that DH will be put on SVT24. ALSO... If anyone wants to contact SVT and tell them how awesome this is, go here: http://svt.se/2.81956/stall_en_fraga and then do as in my image here http://img225.imageshack.us/img225/9448/screenshot2012042000114.png
Sent some love to SVT! :-D

WOOT!! It will be big moments like this that we remember 5 years from now when eSports is a common household phrase.
|
YEAH! I hope little by little everyone will recognize sc2 more as a sport. And Channels such as ESPN will broadcast it too
|
Will be benched in front of my TV. I would've been there if I hadn't graduated the day before it started =/ But gonna be awesome either way!
|
Not sure if it has been mentioned already, but SVT has actually broadcast e-sports before on national television. A few years ago, I don't remember which year exactly, I'm pretty sure they broadcast the CS 1.6 finals on SVT24.
In any case though, this is great news apart from the fact that they will have to go with the somewhat terrible Swedish casters. Oh well, that's a price you have to pay I suppose.

SVT is a public limited company and is owned by an independent foundation, Förvaltningsstiftelsen för Sveriges Radio AB. This foundation's members are politicians appointed by the government. It is funded through a special licensing fee, which is allocated by the Swedish Riksdag. SVTs regulatory framework is by Swedish law and has its board and chairman appointed by the Swedish government. It is now separate from, but was until 1979 part of, Sveriges Radio, which is the public radio broadcaster. Its status could be described as that of a quasi-autonomous non-government organization.

TL;DR: SVT is NOT a government owned television broadcaster.

This is good. Sweden has always been one of the biggest in the esport (Counter-strike) and im glad to see that it is still growing (:
