If ANYTHING it hurt THEM, but then again any1 who saw that thread will most likely be clever enough to see this one, after all the other thread was posted on the 1st of April... All Eclypsia got from this was... publicity, which is exactly what they want. All the people that go "OMG I FEEL SO BAD FOR WELMU" etc... what the fuck is wrong with you? Can't you see that even PROFESSIONALS can have FUN? Take a look at Welmus post yourself... On April 02 2012 00:18 Welmu wrote: Sorry people who took it very seriously. It's a fucking awful April fool's joke. No one should joke about this sort of stuff. I'm not ashamed of falling for a joke on April 1st. They got me, whoop-de-doo! I'm appalled that an organization thinks this is an appropriate way to try and be cutesy when it comes to marketing their team. It is not how you conduct yourself as a business. You do not make an April fool's slandering your own organization. That is not good business practice. All it proves is that Eclypsia has terrible management staff who has no fucking idea about what they are doing. An April fool's joke is not supposed to alienate people, it's supposed to be funny. This was not funny. All Eclypsia got from this was... publicity, which is exactly what they want. It didn't hurt me specifically, no. But puts a dent the legitimacy of eSports as a business. If sponsors find this thread and they think this is a representation of how eSports organizations act, then it puts us all in a negative light. All it takes is a few bad apples to spoil the entire barrel, my friend. This is not an appropriate way to conduct yourself if you want to be considered a professional organization. This is unprofessional.

Joke organizations who think this is an appropriate way to run a business has no place in an already struggling career and profession that's laughed and scoffed at daily by the general public. This was not funny. I'd have to agree, all it really did was make it seem like they were a bad organisation that didn't pay players. There have been issues with players and tournaments not paying out so this wasn't so far-fetched that it would be unbelievable. That's the main reason why it was so popular is because the community doesn't want to see players screwed over by organisations. Welmu and Eclypsia know this sort of stuff has happened in the past too. I've lost respect for them that's for sure.

It has nothing to do with that they pulled an April fool's. April fool's jokes are fine, when they are funny. It's the context and way the April fool's was presented that, yes, de-legitimizes their entire business. I'll say it again. If sponsors look at this announcement and they think this is a representation of how organizations in our world conduct themselves, it puts us all in a negative light.
