I'm not saying it'll kill the team, quite the contrary it's put them into the same "love them or hate them" column as EG, as opposed to the "Love them, like them, or generally apathetic" you get from Liquid. Seems like it'll be a decent way to keep them in the limelight for a couple months if nothing else.
However, I don't like being a punching bag over things I care about. It's like telling a PETA supporter you just turned their purebred dalmations into a fur coat and then returning the dogs the next day. It's mean, and if there's one thing you shouldn't really play with regardless of the day it's the hearts of the converted. Those of us who were truly insulted by the joke are those who truly want the scene to succeed in a way it hasn't before. We don't want players we know and respect to get fucked over by any team, as it's happened before and affects the livelihoods of those we want to see time and time again. If any of the Liquid guys did the same, I'm sure the response would be considerably worse. It simply isn't a good idea.
I will legitimately be boycotting this team for what I feel was an insult. This is my decision based on my personal values. I understand it wont cause these guys to lose a single dollar, but I have my beliefs to keep intact, similarly to how Liquid felt over the MLG PPV calendar thing. MLG still made a lot of money, Liquid kept true to their beliefs, and everyone was content if not happy.
The only thing that still truly bothers me is that the management used the players to do their dirty work. Apalling.

I hope that this is only part 1 of the joke, and part 2 is the players on this team actually being scammed and being unable to complain about it for the relentless mockery that would follow. Here's hoping!

It was an April Fools joke, an extremely obvious one too.
Holy fucking shit, calm down. Don't be so mad that you all got trolled like retards.

Probably a sweet sugardaddy behind all of this!
I think it was a new way of getting attention but I really did not like due the negative effects it could have had on you.
Great seeing a new team and I hope you will do well!
No more jokes please!

why it isn't in community news btw? it's big additions, a lot of hype...

the only thing offensive about this team is that they stream through dailymotion.

Remember boys 'n girls, there's no such thing as bad publicity.

That wasn't fun at all, but if it was fun I'd probably enjoy it.

Their stock went 60 -> 27 in the 2 months following the spill. Today it is 45, but not near early 2010 levels despite inflation and overall market growth.

Foxy is hot... Definitely plan on listening to her casts.

The only thing that still truly bothers me is that the management used the players to do their dirty work. Apalling. A lot of people dislike Teamliquid, the reason you don't hear about it as much is because there are no other hubs for sc2 like teamliquid where a potential disdain could be discovered.
I don't get why anyone would be outraged by this....>_>
It was an april fools day prank that thematically made sense and got people talking about them. There's a thin line between love and hate, especially when you contrast that with apathy.

(See HotBid and IdrA) IdrA has the largest fan base in all e-sports. (as far as I can tell.)
How could any be so confrontational and negative about this particular launch of a team?? What do you know that they don't? "This is the end for you guys, before it even started! BAD P.R., bad p.r. BRO~"
Seriously? Shove it, guys. You aren't the good P.R. police. Edit: It's ALSO April Fools. How many times must this day remind you of itself? I would just like to point out that e-sports isn't SC2 alone. IdrA may or may not have the highest in sc2, impossible to track or tell one way or the other. But at the same time his stream doesn't break 20k+ like some of the LoL players (example: Dyrus, who has 10k+ every time he streams regardless of time.) Btw, the community is the PR police. It's their job quite literally to make us want to support them by supporting their sponsors who pay for them to do what they love. So yes. It IS the community's job to be their PR police, if they offend us it makes us less likely to purchase/use the product their sponsors are trying to advertise. If we don't let them know they offended us then they're that much more likely to fail when the sponsors aren't feeling like they're getting the ROI they paid for without a valid reason. Side note: This is not meant to insult IdrA in any way, he is my favorite sc2 player, but numbers wise he's far from the most popular character in e-sports.
A fair and truthful point. I said as far as I know because I don't follow the LoL. You seemed to miss my point completely about the launch of their team and just wanted to nitpick.
The point is they will be talked about "Bad PR" or "Good PR" is still just "PR." Good or Bad is irrelevant. (Paris Hilton Sex Video? Public TV nipple slips, etc.) They are being talked about. Now (Eclypsia) they have to prove themselves. BMing his way to the top, IdrA wasn't dismissed like Deezer or CombatEX, though he's been BM since SC1, he has proved himself and still has LOTS of fans. It had nothing to do with my post being 100% accurate to you or anyone else, it's a minor example. Thanks anyways.
Once Eclypsia proves themselves as a formidable team, people will forget this shit and probably look back at how ridiculous they acted over it.
Do I need to remind you it was April Fools..... It was April Fools. How many times must it be mentioned.
It was April Fools.
It was April Fools.

I think it was a master piece if you consider it from there perspective.
They thought that people were already considering them as a fake team and thus already had the requtation the joke could potnetialy have incured. Now im not saying thats factual just that it was what they thought.
I was so fooled and now i wont ever forget them. gg wp
