Things are laid back in Unidenland. And may the road ahead be lid with dreams and tomorrows. Which are lid with dreams. Also.

hm, looks like dimaga could end up as the highest placed non-korean yet again. will be a toss up between him, ret, nerchio, idra and kas. idras zvt should be sick by now so he might win against kas for once but european players will have the advantage of no jetlag so kas will likely still be the favorite in that match.

:o Why is SuperNova so underrated. He didn't play that well @IEM Brazil but his TvZ/TvT are super good.

Who said IEM tournaments are never stacked?

Anyways, I'm liking the groups for Ret and Zenio, definitely doable for both of them.

I haven't seen one tourney last half a year where there werent last minute cancels.
(for example someone getting ill or visas or or or)
There is a good lineup though on the runner up spots :D

As for preplanning a possible visit, would be nice to get the schedule out earlier than usual.
Like, will games only last until 18.00 because then the cebit closes doors?

The thing about group A is that I can only see 2 of those players actually advancing from the tournament, none of the others even have a shot. Even if that technically makes it the hardest group for most of the players, I think that group D has the hardest all around lineup. A few good protoss players, a really good zerg, a decent Zerg (IdrA), and few good - really good terran players. I am definite that DRG is making it out, but other than that I think SuperNova will probably make it out as well. If it's top 3 advance, I'll predict DRG (1st), SuperNova (2nd), Kas 3rd. If top 2, then DRG/SuperNova definitely.

Gonna be an awesome tournament though :D

Group A is most certainly the group with the most skill level. Group D is eye candy with the high caliber players, however I don't think the players in said group can compare the the raw skill DRG brings.

Really strong lineup! Kind of dispointing that not a single swede qualified though! :/

Many of the top swedes are now playing in Korea or are staples of MLG so I think its not that big of a deal.
IMO practicing/competing in Korea > IEM
Its extremely difficult to compete in MLG AND IEM at the same time.

It really isn't, it's more to do with Swedes who qualified for IEM events doing badly (Naniwa out in group stages etc)

Naniwa won his group though, he got knocked out by zenio in the ro8.

They're all so similiar in skill, but i would perhaps line it D, A, B, C.
Having said that i'm looking most forward to group C, IT HAS SO MANY WILDCARDS..
SC2 Archon needs "Terrible, terrible damage" as one of it's quotes.

Group A:
JYP will not advance.
Strelok and MMA are more than capable of defeating JYP's PvT. i predict Socke and the nature of European vs Korean PvP knocking JYP out.

Group B:

HasuObs will not advance.
Elfi and MC are PvP gods, and the rest of the group are more than capable of taking him out.

Sound will advance.
He only has two matchups to prepare for, and no one in the group is particularly strong vT except Nerchio.

Group C:

Zenio will advance.
His ZvP is excellent whereas Dimaga has been known to crack under well executed protoss timings.

FruitDealer is the wildcard.
Has he been practicing? Is he taking this seriously? Let's be honest here: no one has seen his games since New York.

Group D (INSANE/Unpredictable):

Why Kas SHOULD advance:
Kas has shown that he is extremely potent in long term macro management games something that SuperNova, IdrA, and DRG all favor vs Terran.

Why IdrA MIGHT not advance:
He has been streaming and playing the Korean ladder so much, it's very likely that ReaL, SuperNova and DRG and their Korean houses are preparing something special for the grack. It's no secret that it's easy to throw IdrA off balance, and having a camera on stream is a good way to tell what builds piss you off.

Oh also: Protoss.

Real lives in Germany though (and has been for almost half a year).

To all of the confused folks: if you win a group you are in the quarterfinal automatically, one playoffs round further than the rest. 2nd/3rd finishers start one round earlier and play each other (cross-group ofc), then play group winners in quarters.

ah, ok, liquipedia just has the wrong layout then. Ok, just wanted to make sure about it.
eh?
