I'm rather sure it's been mentioned a dozen or so times in this thread already, but the quality of MLG streams in the past has been less than sufficient for it's viewer base. Now they want us to pay a premium based solely on their word, and well, that dog won't hunt, Monsignor. While I'm quite for supporting eSports financially by purchasing streams, $20 is nothing to sneeze at for a mere 20 hours of game play. Hell, I pay $20 to GOM for the GSL and that's for 4-5 hours a few nights a week, for a few MONTHS, and I STILL feel that's way too much. MLG is trying to monetize StarCraft II and lead the way for American tournaments without having yet proven itself of being a reliable medium. From a financial sense, it just doesn't seem advantageous to me as a paying customer.

Yes there is an alternative of Assembly, but lets assume this person would prefer watching players like Mvp and Nestea like I would. You should be able to ask a few friends for a few bucks that you can pay off on later dates because you're their friends and it's only $5 max. I'm sure you could easily find 5 people willing to part $3 and pay the other $5 yourself. It's so easy to get $20. It's not hard at all. I could get $20 in a day easy just by seeing if anyone had $1. I'm saying don't give up cause you see $20 and go "That's ridiculous" when you look at all it's paying for, including getting the players there. If you have 10 friends, I'm sure $2 is something they can part with and not care about. All depends on how good of a friend you are to them though and how good of a friend they are. yeah, im sure they will keep you forever as a friend when every time a major SC2 touney is, you beg them for money like a drug addict. ITS NOT ABOUT GETTING TOGETHER 20 dollars. its about geeting together 20 bucks for a 3 day Sc2 tournament, lol.

We were promised X, paid for X, and now we are going to be given Y, which is clearly less content. I will certainly never buy anything from MLG again. I am contacting America Express and disputing the charge that MLG put on my card. You could request a refund for above stated reason. Since the season hasn't started (no consumption so no prorating) and the content is not what was promised I would think they would be obligated to refund anyone's subscription money in full.

GOM has PPV events and that's about it from off the top of my head. You can get $20 from strangers too by the way. "Hey does anyone have a buck?" then move to the next area and repeat. Just gotta put effort in it.

Anyway, going back to it not being very different from their main circuit tournaments... I don't see how they expect this to be successful. I imagine most people will simply pass on it and watch the vods later if they really want to. I feel that if they do want to pull something like this off they should try to be unique and do something like a WCG style tournament where people represent countries from around the world. If it is essentially another MLG tournamet, why spend so much for one weekend where people will get a few hours of entertainment? I'm honestly asking... maybe there is some reason. In the end, I'm not really bothered by the situation despite being a gold MLG member, but I just don't understand the mentality behind many of these decisions. I think people would have been happy to see even more live events for the year, and having the gold price go up a noticeable amount... though 20 dollars extra per event is quite steep. Is this mainly to test the viability of charging PPV for an entire event? Once again, I just can't see this being successful.

I'm not going to get this thinger, but in my eyes, if everything I saw for free last year is still viewable for free then I don't give a shit. And based on what they're saying that is indeed the case. I was not badmouthing MLG.. i was responding to a comment about the 'barcrafts' streaming the ppv. In most cases for ppv events.. public establishments are charge a very high fee to stream ppv events to the public.. thats why they often times charge a cover fee to patrons. I was just pointing that out to the guy talking about holding a barcraft for it. ![]()

In the US PPV is the standard and people are more open to pay for content on TV. This might include many viewers of MLG but I'm quite positive that a lot of viewers also come from other countries, where they are just not willing to pay, just because they aren't used to it. I personally won't pay.
