Believe me though, if I had the job I had 3 months ago, I would not have paid $20 for a weekend of games. Its definitely a bit much from a personal perspective, but think of it this way: People pay $10 to watch a movie for 2 hours. They pay $100 to get into Disneyland for 8 hours. $50 for a decent dinner for 2. This really isnt TERRIBLE for a weekend, if you have the time to take it all in.
Think about the costs. Renting that loft in NYC. The accommodations for your staff. The flights for players. Food. The equipment. Holy shit... all that stuff. And you get like say, even a lot, 20,000 people paying for the stream. Think about it. It doesn't work out. The sponsors and other events are still picking up a lot of the slack. yea cause renting a loft in one of the most expensive cities in ALL of the united states if not ALL of north america was the smart thing to do from the beginning........................................................................ you really going to try to make us feel bad that people dunno how to spend money so we should give them more? not to mention you have to provide housing for all the players and food, since food and housing in NY is so cheap................................... Good point. I remember when Zuffa bought UFC for 2 million they started in a shit hole warehouse/offices behind palace station you don't go at night. Some people gotta have the best though. Wall Street tastes with lemon aid stand income.

I have visited a barcraft in munich yesterday. Asus Assembly was so exciting! Stephano and Polt showed starcraft from the future I felt :-D After that we also watched the first few MLG matches. First, their sound and stream quality was far worse than Assemblies. Also we couldn't watch a lot because MLG started so late (for europeans obviously). So I watched the results on my way home (had to travel about 4 hours to get home) on my cellphone.
Today I would like to watch the final 4 matches but 20$ are not worth for those few hours. As a european you can only watch half of the tourney live (due to sleeping schedule) and then they show three matches at the same time. It's like 20$ for a bad-designed tourney schedule where you can only watch half of it while on the other side there are tourneys like Assembly showing a better performance for free.
I can hear tyler saying from last sotg that people want everything for free. Also sharing a pass with friends and stuff they suggested. But please consider that people out there don't have the time to watch all weekend long. 20$ for 4 matches to watch sounds like a joke to me. -.-

So what you're saying is that it's bad because it doesn't catter to your times. You know if they did then the people in the Americas would get screwed over, and considering the Koreans flying over and the event being in the U.S., I mean it's not hard to understand why the times are the way they are. You get VODs if you pay the money. Now sound and things like that are valid complaints but saying a tournament is badly scheduled because it's not suitable for you is in bad taste. I do agree that they should be able to offer the last day for something like 5-10 dollars for people who only want to watch the finals.

For the record I have several TL accounts, this one is reserved specifically for pointing out idiots in this thread. This is because there are indeed people like you who get so butthurt that they will look through comment history and find what I am associated with. By your logic, they should make Asus Assembly different hours because it doesn't fit well with american Time zones. Events should fit well with the time zone that they take place in and people not in that time zone adjust. And then what tournament is better is all a matter of opinion and the way you rationalize it. Everyone has different marginal costs and marginal benefits for everything, and you choose to like the one that gives you the most marginal benefit. Or else the choice is irrational.

Thats actually wrong. You know why? "Esports needs to be monetized.". Look at it from a business-perspective, and tell me that that was smart. Keep in mind, that EU and similar timezones have a potential bigger viewership.
Other than that, what time was it in US when Assembly was on? Just curious.

20$ is to much, face it. I paid 60$ for the game, and one third of this should be spent on one weekend ? no matter what players are going to play, and what caster are going to be there, it's just too much. There is a poll on TL somewhere which shows that more than 2/3 ppl haven't paid for MLG. I'm fucking sure that lowering that price to 10$ would have brougt them more than twice more money. It's like with taxes, too much taxes and more employers are going to black economy. Laffer Curve - pro explanation
All in all, lower prices, less disappointment, more fans, more money.

MLG is making a killing from Winter Arena. Look at how many people are complaining about the price? It's clear that despite their whining and such, they desperately want to watch it.
These addicts can't resist it. Even if they're against it, their addiction will fuel internal justification to buy and they'll eventually cave in. Even if they don't, MLG can still lower the price later on. It's brilliant.

A ton of people are watching it for free, even today is this based on personal experience that you are watching it for free, or your just guessing?

They seem to have blocked the main stream but not the gamestreams
