It's not too amazing, but 10$ is at least comparable to a movie ticket or something. This, if people aren't willing to pay 10$ for a HD stream of the best players.... then we mind as well just revert back to the old days of BW with only Korean tournaments as they are really the only ones who can support the scene since its already in the 'mainstream' for them. I'm not gonna try and say buy it just to support E-sports, just want to ask why? Why are people voting no on that last poll? How is 10$ for 3 days of HQ awesome games not worth it to you?

The ESL has existed for a (at least in eSports) considerably long time and while the regular leagues are not that known outside their respective countries, the ESL brings us the IEM tournament series which is in my opinion very comparable to what the MLG tries to deliver. I don't know the balance sheets of the ESL, but considering that it has successfully and fruitfully developed over the past years it makes me think that they have a pretty good business model. Please do not raise ESL as standard of anything, it is down there with WCG in credibility (which is another long running ESPORTS brand - perhaps the secret to success is to suck)

Drawing a comparison the super bowl is the silliest thing I've ever herd. When MLG can sell 30 sec ads for millions of dollars then yea you can make that comparison....

But PPV ain´t the way, if there are so many guys and girls protesting, there may be a drastical cut on viewers, especially the casual viewer who only watch big events, they will never be willing to pay. I´m no buisness man, but im sure you´ll lose half your viewership of sc2, since there are way more people watching than playing and nerding around like me!

If you want to charge, it's fine. For events like HSC I got the stream even if my pc couldn't handle HD and also donated some money. That's cool. 10 bucks should be a reasonable price. But 20 bucks for 3 days? While all other tournaments have free streams. ALL the other? If you gonna make it PPV, please make it slowly and steadily and see how the viewership reacts. E.g. lowstream 5 $ HD 15 $. But this is just crazy. Bad broadcasting for EU. Terrible music in the incredibly lengthy downtimes? HSC also had a pricepool of 35000 (I believe) thousand bucks and some players were flown in. I agree that you have more effort, but to justify that much of a difference? are you kidding me? I can go watch a soccer game live for that money. I can get GSL for that money. Or I can save money and go watch free streams. This will hurt eSports even though you claim to help it. More viewers => more sponsors + premium is the way to go IMO and not forced PPV. I am angry. And I don't think this will work out for you. I sincerely hope that it doesn't.

I wonder how many people would be willing to pay to watch football, or baseball, soccer(also known as football) or whatever other sports. Almost all of them have some type or premium service, and they do have quite a few subscribers. But what would happen to, say baseball, if it went to a PPV format for the world series. How many people would still watch it? (I honestly don't know, I think it's just something interesting to consider)
