Exactly. I admire Boxer the man more than anything. He is most definitely a Man of One Way, someone who has devoted his life and passion into a game he loves.

What is your problem? Take your persecution complex and get out of the thread, nobody here is bashing other players and saying that they will never be as good as Boxer, but it understandable that he has a large fanbase and people that are excited to see him stream because of his accomplishments and personality.
As an aside, Boxer does bring new people to the sport. I didn't follow BW at all, although I played it when it came out.. however when I started following the SC2 pro scene I learned about his story and his history, and after watching that two part youtube documentary on him I became a fan. He has done so much for the sport, but not only that he is a great example for how a team environment should be run. SlayerS is such a close knit group of people with great attitudes and it is extremely rare to find.

People watch streams for more than their play. No one is delusional in thinking that Boxer is a top tier player but people will watch him stream because of his personality. Just look at Incontrol or Destiny. Or even Idra, who has a predictable playstyle but people still watch and also whom Boxer has consistently beaten. His skill is at least their level(I would say higher).
Yes, he's past his playing prime but he's still contributing to the sport(found Slayers). Dunno why you're so against the hype. I wouldn't even consider it hype since none of this has been pre-announced(except the initial Slayers streaming thread).

Sure BW is a different game, but its the same franchise. Its not like Moon or Grubby from WC3. Pro sc2 is not what it is today without Boxer. Its not a cult, its showing respect for a man who changed the world of eSports.
I didn't follow BW. I had first heard of Boxer from a HD or Husky video with MKP, back when he was going by Foxer and they started to talk about Boxer and who he is. Anyone who familiarizes themselves with SC will learn about Boxer and the legend that he is. Learning about Boxer definitely drew me into the scene more. Do you remember the chants of "Boxer" at MLG Anaheim? He was by far the biggest draw there. There is a reason MLG brought him back to another event even though he didn't win one. He is an absolute fan favorite and I would say most of those fans didn't follow BW, but rather learned about him with sc2.
This isn't even bringing up the work he is doing with SlayerS. They are one of, if not the most successful Korean sc2 team. Boxer has established a house that is known for their great practice, probably the best in the world. They do very well on the business side as well, which you can't say about many Korean teams.
I have friends who don't play SC at all, yet they know who Boxer is. The man absolutely generates interest in the game.

I know you are new to the scene but there is something you have to understand. Boxer during his dominance was considered far and away the best player in a time where progaming was still very small. Many people I know started watching BW vods SOLELY because of what that man could do to other players. Granted it was at an early undeveloped age of BW but he was still dominating people left and right and he did so in the most creative manner possibly.
There is a good case to be made for him probably keeping BW progaming alive and elvevating it to the huge production it became after his domination. Most terrans at that time played the game and honed their skills because of what they had see him do on TV. Since his glory days was over he has fostered new terran geniuses that have helped pushed the game to what it is now. Iloveoov pretty much showcased the importance of macro and pushed the game to further hights by doing that. More recently he and Boxer helped grow one of the currently best terrans in BW, namely Fantasy. Fantasy had a style that combined the macro of iloveoov and the micro/creativeness of Boxer. It brought huge hype to the scene and kept it going strongly all becaue of that mans legacy.
Boxer might not be the best player currently. He might not be the guy that wins the most competitions. But when you claim things like him being overrated you are just making yourself look ignorant. If anything he is underrated. He is probabably the player that has had the most impact on what we now call esports (across all games).
It's not unreasonable to imagine that unless he had come into the scene and brought evertyhing he did that we maybe wouldn't have sc2 at all. Surely it would be a worse game since the level of play in BW has been VERY influential on how sc2 was programmed and marketed. Sc2 was probably a product of the sucess of BW progaming and it's possible that Blizzard would have dropped the idea of making a sequel if the BW pro scene didn't exist.
