Wondering that myself.

So, what will Hwanni be doing at Fnatic?

Imagine Hwanni doing his thing in fnatic. All the contacts he has..
Hwanni has managing experience way back! Hes going to make fnatic much better just watch. By giving his wisdom to the team and all the contacts he can provide them with practice and such ... hmm this will help out a lot ..

I've been paying attention to SC since 04, I know who he is, I don't know what he is doing on Fnatic. I'm not saying it was a bad move, just wondering what his position will be.

Helping them expand into Korea? Maybe get a teamhouse. See what their strategies are in Korea. Also managing travel and tournament arrangements for the Korean players.

Sweet, Hwanni. I have some issue with Fnatic though due to my fandom. You know, with so many koreans coming to foreign teams and even some moving to other countries, soon we all be a nice melting pot of godly SC2.

Happy for Alive and that this whole ordeal got settled.
I still have a bad taste in my mouth about the way fnatic handle the situation. It seems pretty obvious at this point they were not being truthful when they stated they were not attempting to recruit alive and had no influence on him leaving TSL.
I generally support foreign teams, in hopes of foreign teams performing better, but I'm really not inclined to support a foreign team who's focus is poaching Korean stars.
I still like alive and hopes he succeeds, however I have 0 inclination to root for fnatic the way I would instinctively root for anyone from Team Liquid or EG or Dignitias.
Also if people want to bring up TSL poor history of player retention, look no further than the wiki on fnatic for much lengthier list of "Former Players".

Did not see hwanni coming, but still sounds good, what exactly will he be doing, other than I'm assuming the deal talking in Korea

You're going to run out of foreign teams to root for pretty soon lol.

Sadly, that sounds to be true, as the appeal of foreign teams seems to be rising for Koreans and a lot of foreign teams want to get a quick cash in, not considering the long term investment.
I really like the analogy made by, I believe, Sase.
A player living/going to Korea is an investment, when they train there they rise in value, but once they leave, they stagnate. So basically you are cashing in on whatever skill level they are once you pulled them from there.
Of course, I don't believe this to be universal fact, but there is some truth to it and historical evidence of this as well.
I also want foreign players to have opportunity to thrive and succeed, I don't mind EG taking in Puma and JYP, as long as they continue to promote players like Machine and incontrol. (Super stars like Idra and Huk are almost guaranteed some future, but I'm also glad they have a comfortable team).

Every other team that didnt fight for Hwanni fails in my book haha. Im the biggest EG fanboi ever but Fnatic is going to be the top dogs soon depending on how much Hwanni will have to do with Recruiting and Training in Korea.

Don't take my word for it though. I'm just speculating. But it seems logical

He was a good manager, his team just lost sponsors. It's a good move, especially if they want to move to Korea, which this acquisition seems to imply.

He is. But he didn't 'steal' aLive... he just let him know that there was an interest.

Hmm? Another translator? They already have Double D Choi, not sure what this is about...

Hwanni's not acting as a translator, he's been appointed the Fnatic Korean manager, whatever that means. I think they picked up the right man for the job, though, given his long presence in the scene. Not to mention, I've liked him ever since I saw him ruffle Bomber's hair in that one house tour Artosis filmed ...

Oh, now that I actually read the OP I guess it was just there... was busy working on something and all I read was "Hwanni to Fnatic" and assumed he was just going there as a translator.

Nice, even better.
