Pro Corner is a Starcraft 2 show where we bring on very popular and up-and-coming progamers to create a collaborative atmosphere of learning how to become a better SC2 player. The show formats will vary depending on how many guests we have on each show. At the end of each show, we have a viewer Q&A session with the guests via skype call ins. Overall, it's a very laid back show and really just want all of the participants and viewers to have a good time. I plan to have more formats in the future, and Im always looking for more ideas and ways to improve the show. I made this show for you guys so I encourage you to leave me feedback on the TL thread and tell me what you'd like to see. Come check it out some time and hope you guys enjoy it.
Tonight will be the first episode of "Coaching Corner .. " so there are no VODs quite yet but you can find VODs of my past coaching sessions with EGMachine and vVvTitan on my twitchtv site.

Seems like a cool idea, however I won't be able to watch it live. I might watch VODs if you post them, but I can't watch live.
Also, I suggest that you hire IdrA one night just to fuck with him. You could probably fundraise from this thread to get the $300 for an hour.
Hey conquerer, Id love to but is there a list of mods on right now. I don't know who to PM. Yea, idra might be far out but if there is huge demand for him maybe we could make something happen.

Just PM any mod, time isn't really a priority if you're doing more than 1 episode. Don't know any? Scroll through locked threads and pick up the name of a person with a banhammer as their img.
Also, I enjoy watching the stream. But you should have a banner over the replay timer. As for my IdrA comment, it was more joking, but you would get a vast increase in popularity if you included him in. But, IdrA isn't very fond of sharing his replays with anyone, and it's a question of is it worth the dough? His time is worth a lot of money, but it is really valuable. He isn't a really good coach, because he doesn't do it very often.
Also, what's with the random Transformer-esque noises coming from your PC?

Just posted the VOD. As a contrast to this past episode, next week we will have EGMachine and vVvTitan play each other in Bo7 giving their thoughts and logic between and during games. I figure it'll be very interesting picking their brains in between games in a series. We'll switch vantage points after each game.
Oh forgot to answer the second question. We will have a rotation of player coaches and include all races. My goal is to get a good mix of popular players with ones that are less unknown. Id like to created a show where not only does the SC2 community benefit but also the players involved. I really enjoyed some of the moments where EGMachine and vVvTitan were learning from each other. Id love to have more of that interaction.
It was a very good show and recommend it to all the protoss out there. EGAxslav went over in details his strategy and logic for doing what he does in several games. Let me know your feedback or if you have any suggestions. Enjoy.
Just confirmed Ep. #3 of ChanmanV's Coaching Corner this Monday 9pm PST. We will feature EGMachine and vVvTitan again playing a Bo7. We will have them take turns talking through each game and get their mindset and strategies between each game. Should be a good one so come and enjoy.
Just a reminder Tonight's Ep. #4 ChanmanV's Coaching Corner with ClashShew will be at 9pm PST. We'll be going over PvZ with replay analysis and in game walkthroughs. Come check it out.
VODs from past shows can be viewed here: youtube.com/chanmanv
This monday starts Terran week on ChanmanV's Coaching Corner. For Episode #5 we will have the pleasure of having RGNSpades coaching Megumixbear. Mark it down on your calendars and come watch. Should be a fun time!
Sorry for how long it's taking to get the VODs up from last night's show on the youtube channel. I had some audio synching issues with the local file. For now check out Episode 5 Coaching Corner w/ Megumixbear, RGNSpades, and EGMachine here:
In an hour, Episode #6 with vVvRuff discussing Terran replays and strategies tonight. He will walk us through his unique builds and strategies, We will have him play some games in all matchups and talk us through his play. There will also be a viewer Q&A session with vVvRuff at the end. Come chat and hang out!
Change of plans, we're having a Protoss panel with vVvRocker and kiwiCaliber. vVvRuff had something come up out of the blue. We'll be going over replays for some great games. Both of these players are excellent unknown players so come watch and learn.
Hey Chanman, just wanted to know I checked out the some of the VODs and I really like the show! You're doing a good job and having some really good players on as guests. So thank you and keep up the good work =)
Hey ChanmanV I tuned in for a bit a couple shows ago when Machine and Spades were on there. Was pretty awesome thanks for doing these hope they continue to grow in popularity! Reminds me a little of mrbitter 12 weeks with the pros except you have a different spin on it which is fun.
Merry Xmas everyone! Just a reminder that ChanmanV's Coaching Corner Episode #7 is tomorrow at 8pm PST with guests ClashShew and Ailuj. We will be doing a 1 on 1 coach/student PvT session.
Episode #4 with ClashShew was so great that I can't wait to see him coach Ailuj, who for those if you don't know her was the first female ever to be on the MLG main stage at MLG Providence.
We'll have a Q&A session with the guests as always at the end. Should be a good one so don't miss it!
Just watched VOD of episode 2 with Axslav... soooooooooo good. his PvP thought process is insaaaaaaaane, and I was there for the back end of the Shew show... both episodes are really solid. Keep it up man!
ChanmanV's Coaching Corner - Episode #9 w/ TD.Attero at 11pm EST (2 hours). We'll be going over mostly PvZ and a little PvT. He's been training for HSC so it'll be great to see how that's been going. They'll be a Q&A with viewer questions at the end of the session. Should be a good time .. come hang out with us! ^^
This is a great show. Just followed the channel and added you to the list of shows I'll tune into!
Three questions for both of you guys!
1) In PvZ, if protoss 3 gate expands and zerg goes hatch before pool, is protoss behind economically without putting on pressure(assuming zerg doesn't roach all-in). Question applying for both a zerg taking a third around 9 min(faster third) and 11 min(slower third).
2) Will the replays be released? =D
3) Do you guys have any particular advice about playing long series? In tournament settings do you think it's better to try and adapt your build a bit toward the opponent's style or to just stick with the exact way you practiced?
I have a question for Machine. It is 2 part question, kinda lengthy, but I can't think of wording it any other way.
Hi Bryce, if you don't scout 2 base double Stargate Void/Phoniex all in and your not building blind hydras, do you think the best response should be to sack the hatch and build reactionary hydra den? Removing everything from the base (spore queen drone). Then turtle 2 base, defending with spore queen until the hydra spawn and double expo after defending the attack?
Or do you think that response(sacking the base), would allow you to still go Muta or whatever tech you chose? Since you will retain your AA from your 3rd and can produce a few more queens and spores.
Thanks for the great show, informative and entertaining!
Q for Axslav: In PvZ, should you always do a bit of early pressure to take out an expansion and some drones, or tech up quick in response to whatever the Zerg is going?
Big thanks to ChanmanV for hosting a great show! I got my question answered and all the episodes I have seen so far have definitely been super helpful.
How do you defend a 2 Gate, before Cyber Core, opening from a protoss. My natural is not finished in time, and spines from my main cannot reach to help defend and my lings are quickly dealt with by zealots.
I did scout the opening with a drone before the gateways had completed, but did not know how to react.
What type of harassment can you do against a Protoss that is turtling, (mid game)?
Ling run-bys are often quickly thwarted by cannons and warp ins, and mutas are a large investment unless you are completely transitioning into them, burrowed infestors can be stopped by a cannon that is often put down at expansions.
I'm a bronze Zerg that's been playing for about 2 months, I'm currently relying heavily on muta/ling vs Terran, but I'm trying to incoroprate som infestors but I'm not having any luck as the just end up getting killed before I can land any fungals. Any tips on learning how to use them effectively?
Any players that are especially good with infestors that I could watch to see how they use them?
Also, what unit composition should one aim towards against stalker/colossi in mid-game (pre ultra brood)?
I hope this is where I am supposed to put this... To sheth, how do you make the decision between infestors and mutas? or is the ultimate goal both? Also, I have seen you use ultras in some situations, what do you see that makes you go ultras? mech/bio?
Why did you get armor upgrades for your mutas in Game 1 vs Spades.
If it is because you want to use them as a part of your army, more so than a harass unit, why did you make that decision and how does it effect your playstyle?
Don't armor upgrades hurt your later brood lord transition, as armor upgrades are as important as attack upgrades for broodlords.
On January 10 2012 14:15 alephnot wrote: I hope this is where I am supposed to put this... To sheth, how do you make the decision between infestors and mutas? or is the ultimate goal both? Also, I have seen you use ultras in some situations, what do you see that makes you go ultras? mech/bio?
Why rally your units and not add them to group from eggs? Oppinion on just Rallying and grouping them afterwards versus adding units to group while morphing (like vVvTitan)
I am a plat zerg and I like to play macro games, but everyone likes to 1 base all in... if I hold it off I win but it's gg if they hit at the wrong time. Should I 1 base all in too?
Thanks .. great show guys. Sorry for the technical difficulties early but everything seem to work out. Ill have the VOD up tomorrow. Post show after party was fun too!!!
Episode 12 is tomorrow with guests *drum roll* ... non other than EGINControl and TD.Attero. So excited to have these 2 on. They're both just coming back from Homestory Cup so hopefully we can hear some about it. The plan is a Protoss Panel where both will bring a few replays to discuss. The main goal is to have both of them analyze each other's replay and help each other become better players. Come hang out with us tomorrow at 8pm PST!
Attero: What's your favorite Quebecois curse word? Inctronol: When do you grab your 3rd in PvZ after a forge FE? What scouting information would cause you to get an early/late third? What information do you need to scout for to make sure your third is safe? How do you respond to what you scout? Attero: Can you give us the build order for your first PvP game? How does it change if you scout 4gate?
Incontrol: How has the meta game in PvZ affected ur style vs Zerg? I know that you used to favor stargate openers, do u still favor that style? or have u had to change it up? How hard is it to change from a preferred style in any matchup?
My question for Incontrol and Attero: Day 9 recently did a daily indicating that the PvZ metagame has moved from turtling in order to create a deathball to a constant harassment style. He also indicated that zealot archon is incredibly strong against zerg after a stargate opening. What are your thoughts?
Question: During the GSL this week, I heard Artosis say that most pro players don't use custom hotkeys/bindkeys. Is that true? If so, why is that true when it offers such a huge advantage? How can I find out what the well thought out keyboard arrangements of pros like yourselves are?
Do you guys believe it to be important to be part of a team, not just for having better practice partners but having a group of people who think and feel about the game the same way you do? If so would you recommend trying to enter a team even if it's a lower/under the radar team or would having a bunch of practice partners on your friends list yeild the same results?
Question for iNcontroL. As someone who coaches a lot, when in a player's development would you say it's important to supplement mass gaming to improve mechanics with watching a lot of VOD's/reps/streams, etc to help you understand the metagame, trends, thought processes, etc and what are the best things to watch? What should I be thinking/doing while watching? Are certain things better for certain races? I don't have a ton of time to devote to SC and generally when I do, I'm playing to improve, and I want to be as efficient as possible with my practice time (only really watching this to ask this Question, T.T). <3 to Chanman and iNc/attero for doing the show!
In PvZ what is the scariest unit composition for mid game and how do you deal with that, being high plat I face a lot of roach hyrda and with the meta game switching to muta's what is the best way to defend when you have 3-5 bases (im talking the 30-35 deathbed of mutas and the zerg has 15-20 spines) and if I leave 1-2 mutas at my base I feel that I cant land the storm fast enough before they dart out, any help?
I was wondering why Attero did not add any sort of harassment into his mid-late game such as DT's or warp prisms? Do you feel like it is viable to spread the zerg out and keep them on their toes with warp prism drops and DT's denying bases?
How often do you need to scout? I find a lot of my games are lost because I get distracted and do not scout enough. What type of information should I be looking for while scouting as a zerg player in order to really be prepared for battle?
Episode 13 guests are confirmed! Got WhiteRa vs RGNSpades in a PvT in an afternoon show. Note, the show will start at 1pm EST instead of the normal time. Come check out the show during your breakfast or lunch break.
Just a reminder that tomorrow's Ep. 13 ChanmanV's Coaching Corner with WhiteRa vs RGNSpades will be a day show at 1pm EST. Im going to let some viewers call in on skype and ask the guests their questions. Tune in and hang out!
Axslav: When you play against a player like WhiteRa, who is known for doing things unconventional, how do you figure out what he is doing and then counter it? What is the process you go through when you scout at the start of the game and when you send an observer over his base?
On January 17 2012 05:02 AshenCZ wrote: Chan please thank them much! We really really appreciate this Great games by both of you, GG WP!
Yes definitely. Those 2 guys are great. We will have some more great guests playing each other in the near future so follow me on twitter (twitter.com/chanmanv) or facebook (facebook.com/chanmantv) to keep posted.
Episode 13 was awesome, great viewer feedback and interaction, I suggest anyone who like a more serious approach to learning SC2 than day9 to check this out it really is a great show. I have one request though could you do EU versions of the viewer games that would be amazing

Never thought of that but yes, I will definitely start doing some after party FFAs on the EU server. How about going forward we do it when I have an EU progamer on as a guest of if the show Bo7 takes place on the EU server. Thanks for the feedback!
Ep 14 Coaching Corner tonight! Our guests are EGMachine and Spades. They will play a Best of 7 and each walk us through their game play and decision making during the games. There's been some news surrounding the players recently so hopefully we can ask them personally some questions pertaining it. View Q&A with the guests at the end so stick around and ask EGMachine and Spades your questions. Come hang out with us and enjoy!
So i'm watching it right now with EGMachine vs Spades in a best of 7. I really like it so far but I think I would change it to a best of 5. After the best of 5 I would pick 2 replays in which both players and yourself are on skype all together and go over the 2 replays. The reason I would do this is because going through replays you learn what they think they should have done better after the game instead of asking them that during the game. I love the insight while playing in the game but the extra two replays will give insight on what they should improve on or what they should have done but didnt think of it during the game.

Definitely agree with this. Replay analysis would add a lot to the coaching aspect of the show. I appreciate what you are doing for the community, and the individual effort you've made, but it seems like a lot of fly-on-the-wall creeping around in a pro's game, without enough actual analysis of decision-making. This isn't necessarily the host's fault either; you ask appropriate questions and engage the pros, but it's obviously hard for pros to give thoughtful analysis as the games progress in real-time.
Maybe consider an in-game co-host to bounce ideas off, and let the pros do their thing in-game, and then let the pros provide replay analysis after the games are completed. That way you can have more of a back-and-forth in-game with your co-host, and get the pros' opinions during the replays when they are able to better flesh out their thought processes.
Hopefully you take this as constructive criticism rather than bashing! Good luck with your show!

Hey guys! Thanks for the feedback. All good ideas, but I actually do a lot of replay analysis in the other formats of the show. Check out some of the VODs of the panel or spotlight shows. The best of 7 format is intended to really get into the minds of the pros as they are in the series. There's a fine line Im walking because I don't want to distract them too much so it varies from pro to pro. But Ill try mixing in some best of 5 with replays. We can add that as a new show format.
I loved the show, the interaction between Machine and Spades during the last game was brilliant. Can't wait for the next show, King of the Hill with the past players is going to be amazing! <3 Following on Twitter and Twitch!!
Tonight is Pro Corner's first KoTH night. $100 for ne one that can win 4 in a row and $50 to the match of the night. Im also having each player cast with me when they are next up. Come hang out and call in your questions.
Ep 17 ChanmanV's Pro Corner on Monday will feature vileIllusion in a spotlight show. He's one of if not the best up and coming Terran in NA and he's only 15! We will be having him analyze and walk us through 3 replays in various matchups and then we'll have him walk us through a few live games. As usual, there will be skype Q&A with viewers at the end of the show. Mark it down on your calenders .. should be a great show!
Change of plans guys for Ep. 17 Pro Corner. vileIllusion had something come up last minute and will not be our guest tomorrow night so instead we have the pleasure of having TD.Attero and Spades on for a Best of 7 show. I know there have been requests for a TvP show so if you ask, you shall receive. ^^ These guys have been on the show before so it should be a fun and eventful time.
On January 31 2012 14:25 Terranist wrote: this show is so cool. i don't understand why the viewer count is so low but you have a fan here!
Its how it always starts. I remember 12 weeks with the pro's started out small then got bigger and bigger before the show stopped going. I imagine it'll be the same with this just takes some patience ^^.
Attero and Spades were really funny! I don't know alot about them from before but they were hillarious and also I learned alot from this episode, the format is just so awesome!
We have a Zerg panel this thursday for Ep 18 Pro Corner with guests EG.LZGamer, col.Goswser, and 4KGerbil. If you're having trouble with any of the zerg matchups, this should be a great one to watch since these guys are great players.
Looking forward to some zerg content. By the way, do you still stream yourself getting zerg lessons? I do enjoy the videos where one person works through the process of learning how to play while being coached by a pro player
Next week is coaching week! Dedicating the 2 shows to really focusing on a specfic strategy and hashing it out. Monday Ep 19 we'll have EG.iNcontrol hashing out a particular strategy with xSixAiluj. Should be a great time!
Ep 19 Pro Corner tonight with EG.iNControl and xSixAiluj. We will be doing a 1 on 1 coaching show format hashing out PvZ with EG.iNcontrol in the coach role and xSixAiluj as the student. There should be a lot of great tips tonight so come check it out at 8pm PST on my stream:
Great show. Incontrol is such a great coach. Say what you will about his play compared to the other top pros, but he is a really manner guy and a good teacher.
This is a great show just like I said when you started it.
Please upload this VOD asap. As a toss who is having SO much trouble with PvZ this coaching is so beneficial and needed for me. If you could have them up for tomorrow that would be fast and amazing.
Thankyou so much and keep it up Chanman. Your knowledge is superb and you really know how to combine guests for perfect outcome. Just one tip you might want to hear is that if you want to make this go somewhere to build up to where you yourself are are a huge part of the community such as the man Incontrol or Day9 or even JP.... you need to bring your charisma and GET EXCITED!!!! If you're a laid back kinda dude then ya know what FORCE IT!!! Cause this could turn into something huge for you, who knows maybe one day you'll be getting paid to cast games or get a full time job like IPL gives out.
Just I'm so very jealous you have this prime opportunity and I don't see you running with it. The show is great don't get me wrong. But you need to start working on your speaking voice making it more deep and powerful. And you need to work on getting excited, I mean you have GEOFF FUCKING INCONTROL ROBINSON on your show right now and you don't seem the least bit happy or excited about it. GET EXCITED.
Hell I'm bout to get a mic and webcam and start getting into this nonsense. Just for fun. And because I'd love to be a part of the community of course and not just as a mod for IGN's chat like I am now.
I hope you take some of this into consideration and please don't take it as nothing but constructive criticism. I only wanna see you do better and turn into a professional caster / personality. But right now you have a lot of work to do with your charisma and speaking voice, BUT THOSE ARE EZ PZ. You already have the 2 much much much more important aspects:
-You have a great knowledge and understanding of the game. -And ummm idk YOU KNOW EVERY PRO?? Idk how maybe you could let us know how it is exactly you know these guys enough to get them on your show. But thats huge you have the connections now its just time to polish up and get yourself ready.
Like the old very strange creepy looking fellow casting MLG qualifiers tonight had a great radio voice, and charisma, BUT HAD NO IDEA WHATSOEVER what he was talking about. That's the part that takes much longer to understand, hundreds and hundreds of games. Not just from watching replays.
Hope you read this ChanmanV and hope it helps. Cheers.
Hey, just wanted to say that the Incontrol and Ailuj coaching session was really helpful! I will make sure to watch future Protoss episodes. Thanks! PS bring back InControl
great things about the show: - great for its target audience - guest players are eager.<- this is a great show for players to get more experience interacting with fans/ as well as for exposure. - For those who got a little bit flooded on Day9's show, but still want to improve, its good to maybe take watch a couple of these and day 9 so that you don't get tired of one show's style
slight critiques: I can only think of one at the moment, and that's maybe mic quality. As this show gets larger, and especially if you end up being able to invest a bit of money, a higher quality mic would help a ton. It's definitely not a deal breaker, but something that could help out. Maybe youtube a couple "podcasting mic" review videos to hear the difference that a higher quality mic could bring.
The host is getting better as he does more shows, so everything's smoothing out as time goes on. Can't wait for the next show.
huge thanks for putting the effort of bringing this show, as well as a great thanks for the players for coming on the show.
Tomorrow we will be continuing coaching week with Ep 20 - zerg coaching with EG.Machine. He will be walking me through ZvT strategies. It should be a very good time and hopefully lots of learning. Follow me on twitter to get the latest show updates (twitter.com/chanmanv).
You rock Chanman your coaching corner is so sick, It's one of the best learning centered shows out there. I heard Incontrol call you the new age Mr. Bitter and I couldn't agree more, you bring so much to the community just like he did back with his shows. Love the KOTH love the coaching corner you do so much keep up the amazing work Chanman!
Our guest tomorrow night for Ep 21 ChanmanV's Pro Corner will be RGNSlush. We will be doing a zerg spotlight show where RGNSlush will walk us through in-depth analysis of 3 replays. He then will play a few live games and walk us through his play. The last 15 mins will be Q&A with viewers. RGNSlush doesn't stream so it'll be really great to ask him about his strategies and see him play live. Should be a great time!
Im starting to look for some overlays and logos for the show. If any of you artistically talented TLers would love to help me out, Id be really grateful. PM me in TL if you're interested. Thanks!
Continuing the Zerg craziness on the show, we're having LgN.Aurora on tomorrow to do a zerg walkthrough. She's a really good female zerg player so it'll be great to have her on and show us a few strategies.

Just wanted to say its awesome to see another show of coaching like mrbitter's show used to be. While I don't watch it other then to see results of show matches sometimes, I do like the ideas you are putting into use and everything to help the community out. Always great to read and see ^^.
Nerchio and Machine on Ep 24 Pro Corner tomorrow afternoon. It's an early show (4pm EST) .. mark it down! We will be doing a new "Pro/pro practice session" format with the 2 of them. They will each take turns playing a ZvP while the other guest kind of looks over his shoulder commenting and critiquing. This will be more like the collaborative feel of the zerg panels but with live play vs replay analysis. Should be awesome!

Well , for starters there is no player that was announced( " nerchio" ) .
Destiny and goswer have a bit of a history, tonight's show should be entertaining at the very least. It will be nice to hear what each player has to say during the talk through of their bo7.
Great show tonight. Big thanks to Destiny and Goswser for being fantastic guests and all the viewers! VODs will be up later this afternoon. youtube.com/chanmanv
Never seen any of your shows before, and I'm just finishing up the VOD of this latest show with Destiny and Goswser. Was really, really fun to watch! Great, great concept and very well executed!
You did a great job not revealing any information about what the other guy was doing or thinking to them, but it could maybe be fun if you took pieces of information one guy gave you and made questions from that to put to the other guy between games or in the next game to find out if assumptions and mindgames the other guy was making was right or wrong. So the viewers know, but the players don't, at least not until after the series is over when you could reveal everything. If you know what I mean. If you could reveal those mindgames and thought processes to them afterwards and get a discussion going you could actually help them improve, so they and everyone watching would gain even more from the experience. I think a lot of players don't get enough practice at the mindgames that go on in a series of games, and that could really be an important thing to have down if you want to win a tournament.
Maybe take some notes of questions while the games are going, so you remember to ask them after? I think you asked some questions of that type, or the situation came about naturally, and when it happened it was super interesting.
One point of discussion I wish you or the viewers would have asked for after this series was "ultimate late game unit composition" in ZvZ or just thoughts on tier 3 units since they seemed to have different views, with Destiny going broodlords at least one game and goswser basically saying infestors is the be all end all unit. So the viewers got both perspectives which was great, but maybe they could talk about it a bit to eachother and see if there is anything they could learn there.
Anway, great job over all. Hope you got tons of viewers, and I will definitely watch this again if I see it and it's not too late at night (EU over here).

Randomly caught the end of the live show with slush and destiny and now I'm hook. This show should be getting more attention. So much good stuff to take away from each episode. Just would like to say great job chanman and all the guests appearing on the show. Wish I discovered the show sooner. ++++
Awesome show today, thank you ChanmanV and iNcontroL! Having three very different matches in the replays was great. I learned a ton about PvT and protoss play in general even though I just reached Masters and thought I already had a decent understanding of the game. This show definitely deserves more attention!

I think the best way to beat Stephano's style is 1-3 gate expand styles - opens you up to do a lot of random shit and keeps the Zerg on two bases because they're afraid to expand without seeing a FFE.

If you watch Stephano's stream, he opens 3 hatch regardless of what his opponent does. Against 2 base allins, he might lose one base but that leaves him with 2 bases, and against gateway expands he is even more ahead than against FFE. I've seen him win against 4 gate and DT rush, so his 3 hatch opening is really solid.

The thing is, with 1-3 gate expand you are able to move out faster than FFE because you start teching and collecting gas faster. You're able to do a nexus cancel into 4-5 gate, you're able to rush DTs with very fast gas. It puts a Zerg on the defensive, which is what you want.

Thanks! Yes, it definitely sounds like everyone is more of a fan of this format than the Bo7 one we've done in the past. Let's try it again Monday with Dimaga.
Dimaga and Illusion in a Bo5 show format tomorrow. We're doing a Tt ESPORTS mouse giveaway also! To enter the giveaway either follow @ChanmanV on twitter or subscriber to youtube.com/chanmanv. One of these new follows/subscribers will be chosen randomly at the end of the show. Big thanks to Tt ESPORTS for doing this for the viewers!
Thursday show will feature a first time guest MsSpyte doing a 1 on 1 zerg coaching session with EG.Machine. She's a top 5 master zerg player so should be a fun time. Show time will be the normal night slot (11pm EST).
Don't miss MsSpyte and Slush doing a 1 on 1 ZvT coaching session tonight. For those of you that don't know MsSpyte, she is an up and coming female zerg player that's a top 5 masters. She's a very good player and would love to help her in her quest for GM. Tonight's show is at the regular NA time (11pm EST).
Also, Im announcing a special treat for Pro Corner viewers for the end half of May. Don't miss it!
No pro corner show tomorrow. Unfortunately out of town and the internet is slow here. Thursday we are doing my once a month up and comer show with NMxMasa and NMxHendrlsk. Very good players virtually unknown right now.

Great content Chanman. You seem like a great guy and i really like your approach with this show. 1 thing you should know: the video link for episode 46 in your first post links the video to episode 45 instead. Loved the QxC vs jecho games

Awesome to hear! I really wanted do one of those "reference" episodes with Machine again that people can go back and watch the VODs when they are struggling against the immortal push. I still enjoy it and as long as some of you guys enjoy it, that's enough for me to be happy. ^^
VOD is up from last night's Ep. 48 with EG.Machine where we went in-depth into how to defend against the 2 base immortal push. EG.Machine did a wonderful job explaining it as always so if you're a zerg, definitely check it out.
Tonight's Ep.49 will have iSAxslav and wWSpades doing a TvP Bo5 walkthrough. They will play a Bo5 series with myself and FGFuture casting. After the series, we will have iSAxslav and wWSpades to walk us through a couple replays from the series to talk about their strategies, decision making, and builds. Join us in some fun!
Note: We will not be doing a give away tonight. I decided to plan a super fun week next week to help celebrate the first 50 episodes which will include Tt eSPORTS giveaways for both Pro Corner shows. Stay tuned for more details.
Monday's Pro Corner will be #50 .. yay!! Big thanks to everyone who has watched and supported the show. It's been a real joy making these shows for you guys. To celebrate we have a great week planned starting with xSixMaximusBlack and iSAxslav in a 1 on 1 coaching show. Should be a fun show and we'll be doing a Tt eSPORTS giveaway.
Big thanks to all the viewers and xSixMaximusBlack and iSAxslav for an incredibly fun Episode 50 and a great start to awesome week. VOD for the episode is being uploaded as we speak. Check it out at youtube.com/chanmanv and subscribe if you get a chance. Would be much appreciated. <3
To end this fun milestone week on Pro Corner, we have EmpireViolet on for a Zerg spotlight show! He's such an amazing player and can't wait to go through some of his strategies. Thursday 11pm EST don't miss out!
Hey everyone ... change of plans for tomorrow's show. Violet had to reschedule so I had an awesome idea to continue celebrating the 50 episode milestone this week. We will have ROOTSlush and hopefully a couple other pro players on to coach VIEWERS! We will randomly select a viewer to hop on the show and play a single game while the guests coach you through a game. We'll try to get through as many as we can in 2 hours but I wanted to let you guys personally experience some of the awesome coaching/teaching that happens on the show.
Huge thanks to ROOTSlush and all the viewers that participated in tonight's "Pros Coaching Viewers" show. Hope everyone had a great time. VOD is currently being uploaded so check it out at youtube.com/chanmanv in an hour or so.
Ep. 52 will feature HeavensLIGHT and TD.Attero in a Best of 5 Analysis format. These 2 good players people may not know very well so come check them out.
Join us on Thursday's show when we'll have on aTnDarkforce and another guest on to walk us through a Best of 5 series. This will be during the EU time slot (4pm EST/10pm CEST). Should be fun!
Tomorrow's show is in the EU slot at 4pm EST. We have White-ra and mTwDimaga on to do a Best of 5 analysis walkthrough. It's always great having these 2 on the show so don't miss it!
Some people were asking so just wanted reiterate that Ive been out of town on vacation the last week so Pro Corner will be back on schedule this Thursday. We have xSixSuppy on to show us some strats and hopefully talk about his Anaheim run a little bit with us.
I like how 80% of the posts are from chan man, 15 % are from his friends telling people to watch, and 5% from people actually interested. Might be a sign, dude
Change of plans Ep 55 tonight 11pm with EG.LZGamer doing a zerg spotlight show. He will be doing analysis on 3 replays and a couple live game walkthroughs. Should be fun!
Heh nix that. EG.LZGamer had some family issues come up and can't make it tonight. We're going to do fun "Ask Me Anything" and 4v4 with viewers tonight instead. Should be fun .. come join us! 11pm EST.
Love the show but it seems like you have a seriously disproportionate number of zergs on. As a random player I really struggle in all 3 mirrors and I think a PvP and a TvT corner would be sweet. If those have been done a link would be fine too.

Thanks for the feedback. I will try my best to get some more PvP and TvT shows in the near future. I agree with the disproportion and it's mostly due to the fact that Zergs seem to be more available for whatever reason.
Thursday's show (11pm EST) will be an announcement show for the Razer sponsorship. Tomorrow's show we will be spotlighting a few lesser known NA players. GoSuSTX and Maker will be on Pro Corner to have a terran collaborative practice session via replay analysis. These 2 guys have been solidly in the scene for some time now and are very good players. Come learn a few tips and learn about a player you may not have known before.
I've been following this show for a while now and I am constantly pleasantly surprised that the content of this show just gets better and better. He's always bringing on great people from the Starcraft 2 scene. He interacts with his audience throughout the show and even allows you to ask your questions to these excellent guests. An added bonus, as if this show needed one, is the amazing giveaways. I personally have received a brief coaching session from SLush, a Razer Goliathus mousepad and a Razer tee shirt, all for simply tweeting or FB messaging Chanman while watching an amazing show I would have been watching anyways. My interactions with the giveaways have all been very smooth and professional. Amazing show! 10/10.
FnaticNaama on today's show to talk about terran strategies! We're doing our weekly Razer giveaway of a Razer Abyssus mouse too! Tune in to the show and find out more details on how to win.
I have been inactive for a while now and just recently came back. What I am seriously asking myself is this: how does this thread only have 29 pages and your youtube vids not even have 500 views each? It seems like you feature a lot of big names in the foreign scene and I can't imagine something better than hearing their thoughts. When I was active I watched a lot of Mr.Bitter and he became "famous" quite fast. Please, could somebody enlighten me?
As far as I can tell this is an amazing show, so keep it up

Agreed. Terrans that speak english are not the easiest things to find. Ive asked those 2 in the past but unfortunately we have not been able to schedule a time with them yet because of schedules. I would love to have them on.
I've been praising this show before, but I gotta say: That episode of Climbing the Ladder with Genna was just great! Excellent discussion that is sorely needed for all involved with Sc2 and eports more generally.

That's great to hear! On top of that, we're doing a Razer Black Widow Ultmate Keyboard + 2 HoTS giveaways to help celebrate viOLet being on Pro Corner!
Very good and engaging discussion both about the game and the game. Destiny with his oral diarrhea and MorroW with his calm and logic mind makes a good couple.
Great show. It's sad that these kind of shows that talk about interesting stuff and give insights about pro's thoughts just don't get as much attention as shows that just parade with the old, big names.
Be sure to check out tomorrow's Pro Corner episode at 6:30pm EST (different time). EGSuppy, It'sGosuHwangsin, and col.Goswser will be on to discuss strats and their MLG runs. Plus we'll be doing our weekly Razer giveaway.

More shows!
Pro Corner will be starting up again in the near future. Finalizing some things out right now with Razer and will get started again. The shows also may not be weekly ... on average probably bi-weekly. The reason being is I wanted to focus more on making quality episodes versus just pumping them out. Thus, having more planning and timing guests a little bit better.
The format will be slightly different moving forward. It'll be more of a single guest spotlight where we get a chance to talk to them about how things are going for them right now. Since a lot of the current strategies have been hashed out many times on PC/TL/Other shows, we'll be focusing a little more on the players themselves and their perspective on recent tournaments when they come on the show. That's not to say we won't talk about strats, but we'll do a good balance each episode. We'll have some shows with multi-guests also.
It will be less episodes than this last year but overall I think you guys will enjoy the format a bit better.
Also feel free to let me know what you think. Feedback is always welcome.
Big show tomorrow with Gretorp's debut as our new co-host with our guest the amazing Ukranian Zerg Dimaga! We'll be interviewing and talking strategies via replay analysis with Dimaga. We'll also be doing a Razer Black Widow Ultimate Keyboard viewer giveaway. Pro Corner's new show day/time will be Monday 4:00pm EST / 10:00pm CET moving forward. Come join in the fun!
Cannot stress enough that I am a big fan of Chanman. I've watched the show for quite while when it was just Pro Corner and I love it. I still love Pro Corner and Climbing the Ladder is also great, although I'd rate it slightly below Pro Corner. I've tried to get into Wednesday Nite Sprites but I just cannot get into it. I would never ask you to change your show for me. It's just my opinion and I felt the need to express it. I haven't seen any complaints about it so I was really just curious if I was alone. I'll still be tuning in for every Pro Corner and Climbing the Ladder episode I can. Keep on putting out the great content Chanman. Rest assured I still love the show overall, in fact overall it's by far my favorite eSports show.

Will the VODS be posted on youtube? if not then foreigners will have to somehow catch the stream in the middle of the day which might conflict with school/work schedules, and VODS on twitch cant be watched unless you pay 5$ subscription....seems kinda counter intuitive to reaching your viewer base imo. But the show idea and the goal it's heading towards is great, just hope this obstacle can be resolved.

VODs on twitch are only available to subs. But you can catch them on youtube. I upload them immediately after but it seems to be slow today. it's processing right now.

A question: Do you ever take questions from chat? I posted some stuff in the chat hoping that perhaps you would ask some of them to to your guests as an open question.

Hey .. appreciate the questions but it's VERY hard for me to track chat while we're live. That's why we prefer call ins or posting ideas/questions in the reddit thread. I wish I could pay close attention to the stream chat during the shows but directing flow, changing scenes, little productions things, while being a part of the discussions is about the upper limit of my multi-tasking abilities. so don't think Im purposely ignoring you or anything like that. ^^
I got a chance to watch episode #101 yesterday and I really really think it is an interesting topic. I appreciate all discussions about being better at anything, not just Starcraft. Thought I might add to the brainstorming here.
I think one big resource to tap into when talking about training is to learn as much as we can from other sports and competitions. The structure that NFL/MLB/NBA teams has is obviously able to turn out a lot of top notch players in their sports. In my time in middle school and high school baseball and soccer, our training was almost all drills. We did some scrimmages, but the majority of our time was spent in very specific drills that were trying to hone very specific aspects of our play. Trying to apply that to Starcraft, resume from replay is one tool that would probably do this well, but I also think custom games is a good comparison to drills. On Demu's stream he often mentions that he got good at splitting by doing the Marine Split Challenge or something like that. From my own playing, I played a lot of a multi-tasking custom game where you have to keep a probe moving away from a zergling while you build up your base. Both are great ways to to focus on a single thing that you are trying to improve.
A less thought out stream of thought I have is that it might be good to look into tennis and chess training in particular. I like the tennis idea because, for the sports I played in high school, much of the training was on the group and how to work as a team a lot, but 1v1 is really what high level SC is all about. I also like the chess idea because in most other sports, you physically can't play at 100% for more than an hour or so, but in chess and SC you could ladder for 10 hours straight if you want, though that is probably not the best way to train.
One question I have is how the 'average' pro trains. The show mentioned that there is a lot (probably too much) of laddering, but pros have coaches right? What exactly does the coach do? They also have teammates that they can tap as practice partners. I heard about Demu and Suppy training together with some great results for Suppy, but also some teammates quit when they get matched up against Demu on the ladder. Which is more common?
I hope that this puts some fresh ideas into the discussion and wasn't too long. I agree with the point that we should completely step back and look at the whole issue. Don't just say, well the Koreans have the perfect system, do what they do. We might end up at nearly the same solution, but the journey will help us figure out if we can improve anything else.

You are on our wavelength. Lots of talk about all those things in the coming weeks! ^^
I was having a talk recently with a friend of mine who is really into fencing, and I was explaining the current state of SC2 and the challenges of the foreigners keeping up with Koreans. He seemed to see a lot of similarities between what I was saying and the fencing community, especially with each country having its own training and play-styles and how some countries output a ton of talent very quickly (almost like the current Koeran sc2 scene) whereas others have more eclectic and diverse styles and keep up by trying to optimize their training.
I know tennis is usually brought up as the main "real" sport that's closest to sc2 (besides speed-chess perhaps) but I think that fencing might be another good example since there seems to be an extremely nuanced element of strategy and an underlying tactical wheel. In the future I plan on looking into it a bit more since I believe there could be much to learn from the fencing scene and their various training methods.
Please dont have the show talking about how to train, ill call 95% of the people who watch the show are the same as me, we love startcraft and want to play starcraft and learn about starcraft but i certainly dont want to be told how to TRAIN for the game and take long walks on the beach if im on tilt . . .basically its because im not a pro gamer, people like me who train to play sc2 MIGHT want to focus their energy into something else which has near guaranteed success rates if they do it well and the fact that it may become a life long skill, serious talk to any person not in gaming that you play sc2 . . . ye . .they laugh. i get laughed at but its ok, its my thing!
ill always watch the shows man but recently ive been getting really really bored with the conversation main topics. Why not passionately talk about the game, say its ok to rage, get full on aggressive with what you should be doing in ur next games . . not this la di da, take a break, take a walk, bake a cake . . like me and the most of us, we get in from work, put the kids to bed and i have 1.5 hrs to play the fucking game and im already tired as fuck . . but i want to play. . . .and the nearest beach is 15 miles away

Totally get it and talking about the specifics of the game is what we've done in the past with strats and such, but we're really focused on developing a more cerebral approach to improvement and various tools which Im hoping will encompass the casual gamers too. If you watch the shows for a more casual approach it might not be your cup of tea and there are definitely a ton of other shows right now that are much better suited like SoTG, Meta, iTG, and player streams.
I hope you continue to watch but it's all good if it's not your thing.

Some people have 1 hour to play starcraft in the day, some people have closer to 8 hours to play in the day. Some people have a family to look after, some not. Some people have jobs, while another persons job is starcraft related. There are no certainties in life, to say that you would rather focus your energies into something more tangible and long term then maybe a re-evaluation of priorities needs to take place.
We are discussing the best methods to train for people like yourself, not just professionals. Maybe it would be possible to take what you learn from the show and incorporate it into your family, personal and professional life. Some aspects organically transfer over. They may have a different name or fall under the various guises of social, group or intrapersonal perspectives. I think approaching the facets in your life with a professional and personal approach is important. If starcraft is your release from life and stress then you might want to maintain the fun aspect by treating it thusly, as a recreation orientated catharsis activity. This is maybe the reason why you do not appreciate the tone of the show which is understandable.
To respond to your comment on raging and getting 'full on aggressive', it is not a productive mindset to be in for people who require accuracy and quickness of thought/hand for success professional or not. There are some sports that utilize anger as a prime motivator but It is not immediately useful generally.
Ah dont get me wrong chanman i love the show, urs is the only stuff ill care to watch ,the last one with theognis was easy going but again it just this idea of training in sc2. Come on, really? the pro players on pro teams in pro houses with nothing else going on can "train" but the rest of us are just playing a bunch of games and probably coming across the same builds over and over and dont have a real way to stop it (Please dont forget not only have you got to get the composition right here but you have to make sure everything else is held together) like i said in my earlier post, i cant really come home, mess around in sc2planner, practice the build against the ai (and how many times do you really do this) and then take it to ladder, i may get 2-3 competitive games in the night and then next day bam . . cant play sc2 for whatever reason, then the next day and then the next and then when i finally do other parts of my game play needed fixing not to mention new strats. Of course the show isnt going to change as its your show, i just think im speaking for a lot more people who cant "train" but need some viable thing to mull over during the day in their mind (as i do) then come in and blast it for an hr, not only that the last show with tlo and this show, ur kinda saying the same things over and over, whats more can you say, take breaks, maybe watch the replay get some advice . . .but from who? I have only a few close sc2 pp's but they know as much as i do. im just sorry to see this go down this same road every week where realistically the pros just hammer a load of games, watching some of the eg streamers, they just do it all day long and commentate while they do it ,then they go gym and come back, what else is there to say . . . but i still cant beat hellbats, tanks and thors coming at me!
most of this above just me commenting after my day of work before i can sit down with the game (gotta get these kids to bed man) but anyway, peace the shows really good regardless just a shame its shifted away from my selfish needs!

Focus on networking and getting a good group together for custom games daily. Do a bo5 with ur friend Or if you're having trouble vs this "one build" you're talking about just have him do it 10 times in a row until you CRUSH it. 2 hrs of this is better than 8 hrs of laddering.
SC2planner and the other programs are helpful but they are only just supplementary tools. Good ol' fashioned customs is the core of effective training.
