[GSL Finals] (Z)Leenock-(T)Jjakji, who is your main practice partner?

+ Show Spoiler +
[image loading]
All great winners have great practice partner.

On December 3rd at the Sejong University, the Sony Ericson GSL Season 7 Code S Finals will be held between the “Strong Heart” Leenock and “Phantom Terran” Jjakji. A lot of people are currently wondering “Who’s their practice partner?”

Finals are always unpredictable. The players must not only play well, but also fight against their nerve-wrecking sensations. In order to be able to fight through this and win, one must practice a lot and have confidence in their game play. In order to achieve that, one must have a really good practice partner.

Finding a practice partner requires a lot of considerations. Practicing with someone outside of the team is great in the sense that it is more realistic since your practice partner does not know your play style as well as your teammates. Unfortunately, the very same benefit is also a risk since you have the risk of exposing your strategies. But, practicing with your own teammate is also a problem since you’re used to the player.

There must be a good balance between these finalists practicing with their teammates and players from outside of the team. It is a hard decision that the two players must make: Practice with someone outside of the team or practice with a teammate?
We can see that Leenock and Jjakji has decided to take a separate path with their practice partner. On November 30th, we were able to find out a little bit about the practice plans.

The coach of NS Hoseo, Coach Park, has made an interesting decision for Jjakji where Coach Lee stated that “Once coLMVP (Z)DongRaeGu (DRG) successfully passes through the Code A Round 2, it would be great if Jjakji can practice with him. I plan to request coLMVP DRG to help Jjakji prepare for the finals.”

coLMVP DRG is known for being the best Zerg player against Terran. In a ZvT match-up, one can rank view DRG as being as good as QIM Nestea. Coach Park is very close with the coach of MVP, Coach Choi Yoon Sang, and Coach Park hopes to be able to help Jjakji practice with the best Zerg to prepare for the Final.

On the other hand, Coach Lee of the FXO has decided that practicing with the teammate is the best. Coach Lee states “We plan to help Leenock by practicing within the team. Leenock wants to practice with (T)GanZi (SlayerS), but he has a match against one of our player. Therefore it’s going to be hard to make it happen. Leenock’s good friends coLMVP (T)sC and coLMVP (T)Keen has expressed that they’re willing to help, but we have decided to make it an internal team practice in order to prevent the exposure of Leenock’s strategies.

[GSL Finals] Who will be the youngest man to win the GSL? A man born in the year 1994? Or 1995?

Who will be the youngest man to win the GSL? A man born in the year 1994? Or 1995?

On December 3rd, at the Sejong University, the Sony Ericson GSL Season 7 Code S Finals will be held between Leenock (FXO) and Jjakjk (New Star Hoseo). Despite their young age, they were able to make it to the finals through their consistent and calm play.

The GSL Final between these two young players is bringing a lot of attention from the fans. Whoever wins this will become the youngest player to win the GSL. (T)Jjakji is currently 17 years old and (Z)Leenock is 16 years old. Currently, the youngest player to ever win the GSL is oGs. (P)MC (born in 1991) in Open Season 3.

(T)Jjakji and (Z)Leenock are definitely way younger than (P)MC. Therefore they both have the chance at becoming the youngest player to win the GSL. In fact, people are comparing Leenock with the “Ultimate Weapon” (T)Flash (KT), who have won the Starleague at the age of 15.

During the 10 years history of E-sports, there’s one thing that these really young top players share in common: Consistency and becoming even more powerful. Leenock and Jjakji both have the skills and the guts to become the top (aka “bonjwa”) player.

(T)Jjakji and (Z)Leenock have illustrated their strong desire for becoming the youngest player to win the GSL Title.

(T)Jjakji has stated that “Because (Z)Leenock is younger than me, I did not know much about the whole concept of becoming the youngest player to win the GSL, but now I know about it and I want it. If I manage to win the title, I think such record will stay around for a long time. After winning the GSL Title, I plan to try and win other titles too. “

(Z)Leenock has also stated that “Becoming the youngest player to win something is a very record to get. If I manage to win the GSL title, I think this record will remain forever. This is my chance!.”

[GSL Finals] Leenock-Jjakji were asked to predict the final score.
+ Show Spoiler +
This match-up is predicted to be very competitive.

Both players expressed their strong desire to win. Both players were asked to predict the final score. Both answered 4:2. But with different end result. This match-up is looking like it will not end one-sided.

(Z)Leenock (FXO) and (T)Jjakji (New Star Hoseo) will be playing the Sony Ericson GSL Season 7 Code S finals on the 3rd of December. Both players were asked to predict the final score. Both predicted 4:2. Of course their prediction of the end result was different.

When we asked (Z)Leenock about the match-up, he responded “My opponent is doing pretty well right now and it wont be an easy win for me. I’ll have to play very safely, but I predict the final score to be 4:2.”

When we asked (T)Jjakji, he responded “Whether I win or not, it’s not going to be easy. If I do win, I think I’ll probably win 4:2.”

In the past, the GSL finals tended to be one-sided. This year, both players do not have any experience with the GSL title and are both very young. Therefore the games are predicted to be very intense.

In fact, we can see how competitive the matches have been for these two players. Both players won barely 3:2 in the full set matchup in the Round of 4. Also since this is their first time playing at a big stage, there is a high chance of a small mistake from these two players. If that’s the case, the final scores may be 4:2, or even 4:3 according to the experts.

Thanks! Great read. I do think that 4-2 would be the most likely score and either player can take it.

I didn't know that Jjakji was that young, Liquipedia has him at 19.

Oh wow, didn't know Jjakji was only a year older, reminds me what a sick talent he must be =D

Really keen on the finals, I expected both of these guys to be stars of the future, not the present, but I definitely won't complain about that! =D

Interesting decision with DRG to practice against Jjakji. Can anyone familiar with both players tell me if their styles are similar at all?

Leenock already had his practice. By beating the strongest tvzer in the world, he's proven he can take on any terran. Jjakji's gonna have to bring some new strats to win.
Forever the best, IMMvp <3
