I'm a sad panda. I laughed out loud. As well as the nice TT1 sad face..I wonder if what is next for him though...

He was very good a while back. His best was beating MC. Other than that he hasn't done much unless you count any MLG pre-Koreans.

I have been a TT1 fan since release (he won me over early with his gateway heavy, high mobility style). However, he hasn't exactly kept up as the game has developed. I hope that with a new team he can gain new inspiration and motivation to work even harder and get himself back to the top where his potential truly is.

GL TT1!

More inconsistent then mediocre. I see him beating Koreans and top foreigners but more so losing too much to less skilled players that force him out of tournaments early.

TT1 to team REIGN? or Complexity?

I honestly doubt they'd get TT1 after they "just" got Naniwa. Personally I think there are quite a few better protoss players out there too, incase they wanted another.

Anyway,

I never really thought your play was amazing, and I have seen a few rage posts here on TL (which always saddens me), but nonetheless I wish you the best of luck in the future. With SC2 or with whatever you chose to pursue.

Inconsistent is the right word. When he plays smart, his games are pretty sick. Hope a new team can bring out his A game gogo TT1 :D

Intro to the article on Fnatic's site gives the background:

Payam 'TT1' Toghyan starts his free agency today as we decide to part ways on amicable terms today. With the current direction our Starcraft II division is heading in, and what TT1's goals were as a professional player not matching up like they once did, it was in both parties best interests to say goodbye.

I missed that... but what does starting a free agency mean?

That his contract is over most likely or ended.

I'm going to speculate that TT1 wants more compensation than Fnatic is willing to offer and they were unable to come to an agreement.

It's also possible that Fnatic didn't want him on their team anymore. "Goals not matching" is often code for "fired."

disclaimer: I don't have any inside information at all, that's just how it reads to me.

I suppose it's possible but I don't know about this. Granted the last big tournament win TT1 had was second place at MLG Dallas 2010, and he has had mixed success in the NASL. But that's certainly more success than some of the other players on Fnatic's roster. Not to mention TT1 has quite a bit of name recognition and has a pretty decent fan following; which directly translates to sponsorship revenue for a team. It just doesn't make any sense to me that Fnatic would "fire" him. (Idra could play horribly and EG would certainly still keep him around for his fan base)

I think it's possible that Fnatic had reduced their offer based on TT1's lack of current success and TT1 wasn't happy with that. Or he wanted more and Fnatic, again based on his recent lack of success, was unwilling to pay what he wanted. Either way it I think it comes down to a money issue.

Anyhow, best of luck to both.
I like the way the walls go out. Gives you an open feeling. Firefly's a good design. People don't appreciate the substance of things. Objects in space. People miss out on what's solid.

Your last paragraph sounds pretty much spot on the money. The same thing happened with Fenix when his contract came up for renewal, so I could certainly imagine it happening again.

Whatever happens, I hope you get banned from TL again because that's when you practice hardest.
