I was going to post this in Blizzcon day 2 thread, but there's so much garbage in there. Let me know if there's any mistranslation or something. Ignore tpyos and grammar though.
Here's the interview translation with Blizzcon winner, MVP.
How do you feel after getting the champion ring?
Blizzcon is the tournament I wanted to participate in the most ever since I became a SC2 gamer. It feels really good to win the tournament that I've wanted to be in the most.
Any effect from being the runner up of GSL code S?
To be honest, not much. I lost because I didn't play well. I thought that I should concentrate on upcoming games instead. I tried to not think of what happened before.
Even if you didn't win, yesterday's atmosphere was astounding
I thought it would've been better if I won because the cheer was so big. On the other hand, I felt envious of MMA.
I heard your condition yesterday was very bad
"condition was bad", "was unlucky", "was jetlagged", I think these phrases are just excuses. I didn't play well, while MMA did. That's all.
Today's atmosphere was as grand as yesterday's; did it make up for yesterday's loss?
Winning a tournament generally makes me feel happy, but the blizzcon schedule kept me very busy. I was tired from lack of sleep, so I suddenly felt the fatigue afterwards. Crowds' cheers were amazing, and I couldn't think of anything else.
You lost the winners' brackets and went down to the losers'.
Against Sen, I was confident that it was vs Zerg. I was thinking of playing against Nestea again.
You got to meet Nestea at the finals, but you had to win 4 sets.
I thought I would lose since I was behind one Bo3 against none other than Nestea. There's Blizzcon winner ring and runner up ring, so I was satisfied with the runner up's. On the other hand, this is Nestea's first foreign tournament, so it was very hard on him. I think I was able to beat him due to his fatigue. I was behind in both mind games and skills, but I was able to barely pull ahead with concentration and endurance.
Last set was a long game, and you were at a disadvantage.
I kept thinking how good Nestea is during the game. Any other zergs wouldn't be able to macro up after being shaken up so much by my harrass. I felt Nestea's greatness once again. Still, terrans have ghosts as the ultimate weapon, so I thought I'd be able to win by massing ghosts.
Do you not want to meet Nestea anymore?
We met too many times. It doesn't feel too good to meet him so many times when we're close teammates. Still, Nestea is the best zerg and I'm a decent terran, so it can't be helped.
What do you think is the reason for being so good against Nestea?
I don't know why. There's lot of pressure when we face off, so I think it affects Nestea a lot. Also, this tournament used ladder maps, which are very bad for zergs, so he became hasty. Being called Nestea's weakness makes me feel proud. It makes me feel like I became a world class player.
How will you prepare for the next season of code S when you're back in Korea?
I'll sleep for 24 hours once I'm back. I have to prepare for WCG before code S.
Don't you want a rematch against MMA?
Since I lost so badly this time, I want to meet him again soon. I don't know which tournament it will be, but I want to face him in non-Bo1.
This is your second foreign tournament win. Do you want to win MLG Providence as well?
I won both foreign tournaments that I've participated in. I think I can win the next MLG. I feel confident and greedy.
There has been various happenings on these 2 days. How is it looking back at them?
I probably played the most games among the players. It's a shame that I wasn't able to enjoy Blizzcon because of so many games. It's a shame that I couldn't try D3, HotS, or DotA. I want to try everything if I can come to the next Blizzcon.
Any last words?
I want to thank my parents who are cheering for me in Korea. I also want to thank Steelseries and Korea Gigabyte for helping our training atmosphere. Thanks to Blizzard Korea Esports team for making my travel comfortable. Special thanks to Lee Je Ho. I want to thank my girlfriend who's cheering for me in Korea. Please support my team Incredible Miracle and Quantic Gaming.

TN: This is probably the modest player interview ever. Good stuff from MVP.
btw, was there an interview with MVP after the finals on stage?

I love how humble he is : refuse any excuse for his loss against MMA and then proceed to say that "Nestea is the best zerg and [he is] a decent terran" <3 Instant fan!
|
MVP can crush any zerg, i don't understand why he is so modest. He has the sickest timing attacks ever
|
Shame MVP couldn't play HotS .

He is humble because kespa taught him so (seminars). It is kinda generic...
|
I imagine that MVP would have come up with crazy builds if he tried HotS already. That's too bad. I hope they let him try it at the Blizz HQ or something, has he left yet?

Kespa teaches humility at seminars? TIL

Lee Jae Ho? why would he be thanking Light? At least I'm pretty sure he is thanking Light. Maybe moral support?
|
"Being a decent terran." MVP <3

This, tbh most of the korean interviews feels false and made-up

I have mad no-homo love for MVP.
I wish Boxer mentored MVP on how to be a crowd pleaser and gain popularity with foreigner fans. MMA seems to have picked up a lot of this aspect, what with the english lessons and tigers cap, etc.
|
Thanks for this. Yeah, he really is humble. Happy he got the win!
Was also interesting to think about him wanting to try out all these other games at blizzcon but being unable to. Humanises him more I guess, lol: sc2 not the only thing he is interested in . Must feel really strange being at blizzcon, but being unable to try out any of the stuff there too.

Even, if it's Light, SC2 players seem to keep in good contact with former SC1 players. But MVP and Light weren't on the same team prior to MVP's SC2's switch. *shrug*.

MVP is such an awesome guy. So modest about stuff.
|
"condition was bad", "was unlucky", "was jetlagged", I think these phrases are just excuses.
Heh, how true. Very good anserwers

The final did not dissapoint. Congrats to MVP!!!

Maybe because It'd be a little weird for him to get all cocky after just recently losing another major tournament to another Terran? Maybe he's being a good friend for hyping up his teammate by downplaying his accomplishments? That's some ridiculous speculation.

"condition was bad", "was unlucky", "was jetlagged", I think these phrases are just excuses.
Lol I wanted MMA to win but mad respect to MVP

I heard your condition yesterday was very bad

The attitude of a true champion!

QUANTIC INCREDIBLE MIRACLE FIGHTING! :D

Sign of a true champion. Who the hell wouldn't get rattled after that crushing defeat less than 24 hours ago?
|
Finally a top player puts to rest the jetlag excuses I hear every single tournament where there's an upset. Mad respect.
|
Yea, he does have some of that 'korean humbleness'. But he isn't like full fledged bw interviews.
His 'those are just excuses' is something not many other people say. He praised his victor and stated why he lost in a blunt manner.
<3 MVP
|
Nestea made mvp thats why he respects him so much. also they can take games from each other however mvp is like 55-60% and nestea is like 45-50 %.
|
Do you not want to meet Nestea anymore?
We met too many times. It doesn't feel too good to meet him so many times when we're close teammates. Still, Nestea is the best zerg and I'm a decent terran, so it can't be helped.
Lmfao, MVP, just say you're the best.
Congrats on his win! <3
|
He probably was tired as hell thus the really short answers. I don't really see too much "trained" responding but some individuality here and there instead. Good, short interview imo, thanks for translating.

ghosts as the ultimate weapon
haha Flash = Ghost

wow I respect MVP so much more thanks to this interview
|
Would've been interesting to hear about his first impressions of HotS. Ah well, soon I'm sure.

cool statement but if you think about it he played his teammate from the same house and MMA also from korea so jetlag is no excuse anyway when all three of them probably are jetlagged
anyway mvp fighting ^_^
