Hi Everyone,

So, I know that there's still some lingering disappointment because Ultimate BarCraft was canceled. But, here's another great opportunity to enjoy StarCraft (and a hairless Slasher) with a large group of cool people, even if you don't have a Blizzcon ticket!

A solid group of SC2-focused eSports companies, including EG, OneMoreGame.TV, compLexity, Quantic, and NASL, have teamed up to produce a really cool event, Friday night, at the Hilton Anaheim (right next to the Convention Center). We have enough room for about 1,000 people, and our event will feature a GSL Finals Viewing Party/BarCraft, followed by a live episode of Live on 3, which will featuring Slasher and djWHEAT *both* getting their heads shaved on stage!

The event's free to enter for all ages (although you have to be 21 if you want to drink), and you don't need a Blizzcon pass. Just bring yourself, your friends, your passion for StarCraft, and your desire to make fun of Slasher! Doors open at 8:30 in the Ballroom at the Hilton Anaheim. We hope to see you all there!

For those of you who can't make it to the event, the Live on 3 portion of the party will be streamed live on OneMoreGame.TV, so everyone can watch Slasher and djWHEAT lose their hair . The Lo3 stream will start approximately 15 minutes after the conclusion of the GSL Finals.

Oh wow, looks like a lot of fun!

Is the bar okay for sub-21s as long as they don't drink, or is this for you old people only?

edit: o wat tomorrow
now run into the setting sun, and suffer, but don't mess up your hair.

Barfood can be incredibly delicious! Don't have to drink, man. I highly doubt nerds like us are the pushy frat-boy types anyway.

couldn't disagree more. I find very few things less interesting than a drunk person when I'm not drunk.

BarCraft is the Foreigner's answer to the Korean PC Bangs. It can do for StarCraft 2 what PC Bangs done for BW.

We now live at a time where everyone has high speed internet at home and a PC beefy enough to play StarCraft, so PC bangs are not coming back. Without them, the StarCraft community lost a home to congregate around. This is, in my opinion, the reason why BarCraft is spreading like wild-fire. It's not really so much about drinking, but about creating a local social-space and demonstrate a physical presence of our community to the public.

That's how we can get recognition, new sponsors and fresh faces, that's how we grow the scene.

BarCraft has the potential to create three things:
  • Recognition - BarCraft garners mainstream interest like nothing else. To the mainstream world, BarCraft is face that they can observe and try to appreciate, because it creates obvious value. That's why while StarCraft is thirteen years old, it's BarCraft that got it featured on the Wall Street Journal.
  • Rally point - Our community is huge, with over a hundred thousand hardcore audience and probably a magnitude more in casual ones, yet we don't meet up except for the sporaic major and local tournaments. BarCraft gives us a good excuse to finally meetup with fellow nerd ballers in a casual, social setting. Making friends are easier when you already shared interests.
  • Revenue - BarCraft can be developed as a significant new revenue source for the industry, if properly harnessed. It has the potential to be the fund base to jumpstart local competitive scene beyond the "charity work" that had fueled StarCraft in the past. It can also help gather new sponsors, like the "lifestyle" brands that SirScoots keep harping about.

Unfortunately, money always dirties community intiatives. BarCraft will some soul searching.
Thank God and gunrun.

This seems like the right answer. Some people just want to hang out with other people in a local area with the same interest and passion as them.

Its been fairly successful so far.

This would be pretty sweet to go to but I don't really want to miss seeing the finals in the audience. Maybe next year we'll get a real after party on Saturday

"which will featuring Slasher and djWHEAT *both* getting their heads shaved on stage!"

Slasher $^@#'ed up Big Time "No Foreigners will win Big Tourneys"

3 Foreigners win 3 Big Tourneys in a Row (And the Tourneys had quite a few Koreans in them at-least two of them)

Its gonna be great watching Slasher lose his hair.
