Q: Maintaining from last season, you've risen to the Round of 8 this time. Thoughts?
A: During practice, my games weren't going well so I was worried. But since I won I'm happy, and since I beat Bomber I'm even happier.

Q: Since the patch, has TvT changed?
A: It seems like the only difference is whether you pick bio or mech in the first half of the game; if you go to the second half it's the same. In the late game, there's nothing you can do but go sky Terran, so resultingly there's not much different strategy.

Q: How do you think you won the first game?
A: The early game was advantageous for me, so I started off ahead. Also, Bomber mined out his gold mineral expansion first whereas I took it late, so I had an advantage with respect to resources.

Q: In the second game, Bomber's mistake stuck out.
A: I saw that I had an advantage in the beginning, so I really wanted to end it quickly. But making a rash attack puts you into a bad position, so when Bomber made an unreasonable attack I was able to win.

Q: With today's win, your record against Bomber has been brought to balance.
A: I'm usually not very aware of my records against opponents. I usually pay more attention to current momentum than overall matchup records, and I was able to win since recently my momentum is better.

Q: You have a jinx where if you get through the Round of 32 you win the tournament.
A: I might have to face Nestea in the Round of 8, but if I can win in that round I can win the tournament.

Q: Who do you want to face in the Round of 8?
A: To be honest, I would like to play versus Terran, but I hope that Nestea can advance and we can have interesting games.

Q: If you go to the finals, are you burdened by the thought of having two finals at Blizzcon?
A: It would be beneficial in terms of stamina to have only one final, but I think that I can overcome the weaker stamina and force that would come from two consecutive finals.

Q: Your wrist condition has been said to not be good.
A: Since my days in Woongjin Stars I had to receive treatment for it, but I missed my chance. During practice, my wrists hurt so games don't go well. In broadcast games I forget the pain so I am able to have good results, but it's difficult to win in practice. It seems that now I will have to go to a hospital and receive treatment. Both hands have carpal tunnel syndrome so I will have to receive physical treatment, but when I get the treatment I will need to take a break from the game, so for now I am just bearing it and focusing during practice.

Q: Anything else you want to say?
A: I want to thank our team's Happy, dreamertt, and Yoda as well as other teams' MVP_Keen, Zenex_Byun, NsHoseo_Jjakji, TSL_Heart, MVP_Noblesse, MarinekingPrime, EG_Puma, NsHoseo_Sculp, and Slayers_MMA. Our team's Terrans had games this round, so I had to ask other teams' Terrans for help, but they gladly helped. The next time a chance comes, I will help them.

Nestea

Source - http://thisisgame.com/board/view.php?id=806672&board=&category=13439

Q: Thoughts on winning after a close match and advancing to the Round of 8?
A: My opponent didn't play like I thought he would, and the games were difficult. I'm happy to advance to the Round of 8 in this way, but since my opponent is MVP it's bittersweet.

Q: Your opponent went for a hellion into double expand strategy.
A: I thought that Virus would try to end the first game quickly. So I mainly prepared defensive strategies, but then my opponent went for a greedy management style, which threw me off. If I am not aware of my opponent's style, then I can get better results if I just focus on my own play.

Q: The steps in your build were all trailing behind somewhat.
A: Virus hasn't played many TvZ's so his style is hard to get a grasp of. He's usually good with mech play, so I assumed that he would use it on Metalopolis, but he used bionic, so I was thrown off.

Q: You're matched up with MVP again in the Round of 8.
A: Even if the maps are good for me, it will be difficult. But since it is an opponent I need to beat, I will practice hard.

Q: Your record against MVP is currently 1-5.
A: During practice we both win and lose. During practice games whoever is in better condition is the main factor, and this time it seems I will have to work hard on controlling my condition.

Q: If you defeat MVP and make it to the finals, you will have two finals at Blizzcon.
A: Wouldn't it be nice to win twice? But for now I won't think of that and will just practice hard.

Q: MVP has been pointed out as the strongest candidate to win the tournament.
A: Among the two of us, only one can win and advance to the highest position. Maybe an 80% chance [T/N of the winner of MVP/Nestea advancing to the finals] On the other side of the bracket, I think that either Happy or MMA will rise to the finals.

Q: Anything else you want to say?
A: I want to thank our sponsors, Googims Company and Coca-Cola. I also want to thank IM_Happy, IM_Yoda, and IM_dreamertt for their help in practice.

+ Show Spoiler [Winner of Ganzi vs Leenock] +
Ganzi

Source - http://thisisgame.com/board/view.php?id=807035&board=&category=13439

Q: At the end of a close match, you beat Leenock and advanced to the Round of 8.
A: Before this interview, Leenock said he could win this game because my skill is not top class, so I got frustrated. So in order to teach him a lesson I worked hard to do better than he thought I could. During the games, it felt like I had many lacking parts of my play, so I will have to practice harder. I want to tell Leenock that he worked very hard.

Q: In the first game, you encountered some burrowed banelings and lost.
A: My opponent's burrowed baneling timing was very quick. I didn't have a good grasp of my opponent's baneling count so I lost. After I lost the first game I got really nervous. It seemed like I was lacking practice compared to my opponent.

Q: In the second game as well, there was a disadvantageous moment for you.
A: I used the same build as in the first game, but my opponent didn't scout. Leenock's attack was very strong, but I thought that if I could somehow hold it I could barely win. After the second game I felt exhausted but that result brought me to the final game, where I felt half-hearted, but I focused more than my opponent and was able to win difficultly.

Q: This is your first Code S season, thoughts?
A: There were a lot of easy matchups in Code A, but as expected Code S is different. There is not one easy opponent. I'm dreaming of Blizzcon, but it seems like going all the way to the finals will be difficult.

Q: Who would you like to play in the Round of 8?
A: While practicing for the Round of 16, I was aware of the possibility of being matched against Dongraegu. Recently his ZvT is very good, so I would like to be matched against him once. I'm currently 0-2 against him in official games, so I would like the chance to redeem myself against him.

Q: Anything else you want to say?
A: I want to thank the Zergs who helped me a lot in practice. And during practice Cella helped me a lot with Leenock's style, but during the games it was much different (laughs). I hope that Cella can improve his skills. Last, I hope that our teammates who are preparing for a foreign competition will have a good result.
During practice I examined Marineking's games a lot, and as expected he's a really good player. While watching other players' games, it's very rare for them to be fun, but Marineking's games were really interesting. I hope that we can become friends in the future.

Source - http://thisisgame.com/board/view.php?id=807184&board=&category=13439

Q: Thoughts on getting to your first GSL Round of 8?
A: Since it's my first Round of 8, I'm really happy. During practice I anticipated difficult games, and as expected they were very hard. Since I won difficult games, I'm very glad.

Q: It must have been tough facing Dongraegu, whose ZvT is very good.
A: I analyzed Dongraegu's style and focused on it. I also asked players who have beaten Dongraegu for advice. MVP helped a lot. He advised that you can do well if you don't attack rashly but play a chess-like macro game.

Q: You were driven into a crisis when your proxy barracks was shut down in the first game.
A: It looked very bad. But because I had practiced for cases of it being blocked, I thought that if I was able to play calmly I could win.

Q: Losing the second game must have been regrettable.
A: During practice, my winrate on Metalopolis wasn't good. I suffered a loss after I had been in a lead, but because I prepared well for the last game I calmed myself quickly. After losing the difficult game, I just focused on winning the third set.

Q: You had a lot of time to prepare, but what did you think of the games you would have to play?
A: I had no idea the games would be like this until now. Also, I felt pressured to not show bad games.

Q: The games between Ganzi and Leenock played out similarly.
A: It wasn't intended for things to be like that, but I that's how it happened. While I was playing, I thought a lot about how the Ganzi-Leenock games went. But Dongraegu showed that he is a player with very powerful ZvT. He worked very hard.

Q: You'll be matched against Ganzi in the Round of 8.
A: Ganzi prefers management-style play, so it will be very difficult, but I think that if I practice hard I can win. These days I'm most confident in my TvT, so I was hoping that Ganzi would advance rather than Leenock. I will have to practice with forGG for the Round of 8. forGG is really skilled, so if I practice with him I will be able to show a good result.

Q: Could you assess forGG's skill?
A: Some time ago he seized a high ranking on ladder. Next season he will probably advance through the qualifiers easily and show good results.

Q: Your momentum is good lately, so you must have big expectations for this season.
A: I haven't ever worked as hard in my life as a progamer as I am doing now. Since I have gotten this chance, I will work hard to take it. I will be very regretful if I let this season slip.

Q: Anything else you want to say?
A: I want to thank our team's Zergs, especially Zenio and Jookto, for their help in practice. Since I have advanced to the Round of 8, I will buy them some drinks.

So glad Supernova finally got to the ro.8 and beat DRG. All the other koreans say he's one of the best but he's never really been able to show it until now.

It's amazing how MVP does poorly and practice but goes god mode in GSL lol.

Hopefully he can take a break after Blizzcon, he's been playing a lot lately.

It never fails to amaze me how MVP can call upon practically anybody in Korea to help him prepare for a match. I remember in his interviews for the World Championship finals against MarineKing and last season's series against Nestea he had like half of code S practicing with him.

Haha, already using forGG as a main practice partner, gotta make use of what you've got!

Thanks for the interviews, it makes MVP's win all the more impressive when you consider how he's trucking through the pain. Very BoxeR-esque.

Man, these interviews were so awesome but so depressing at the same time. MVP with CTS in both wrists.... oh man, i hope he has a speedy recovery once he starts it. Apparently Ganzi is gay for MKP! And Supernova foreshadowing the tidal wave of fOrGG! The tide is ebbing waaaay back.....

I'm so hoping this somehow turns into a sick rivalry. Such great ZvT and TvZ from players who I see a tonne of room to still grow. I expect both of them to be big in the future, and would love to be able to say "I saw them when they were still growing" =D

Also, was wondering if we could get a belated translation of Ro16 Day 1? I know generally people seem to care less for those players, but Happy, Clide and Coca could all potentially have this as their "breakout" tournament. I'm looking forward to hearing more about them too =D

But yeah being a Korean gamer is very imba. If you're a non-korean gamer you have to balance your game playing with earning money and your real life. If you're Korean you just sit around playing games all day eating 2 cent ramyun and becoming gosu.

For-shadowing the For-GG. I'm excited for his debut next season. Heads will roll, and more ladder points will be stolen.

Also, cool to see MVP practicing with so many people. I guess not only does he get practice from other Terrans, but the other Terrans are honored and fortunate to get practice from him.

Oh man, I hope MVP can take a break and get better.

Super excited to see what ForGG can do, even though it will result in even more terran domination . I could totally see him cruising into the up-downs on his first try tho.

I was so sad DRG lost. He had game 1 and threw away a won game. Sucks to hear about MVP's wrists too. Only thing that can stop him from winning GSL!

Q: Anything else you want to say?
A: I want to thank the Zergs who helped me a lot in practice. And during practice Cella helped me a lot with Leenock's style, but during the games it was much different (laughs). I hope that Cella can improve his skills.

Haha, wtf.

Interesting (as in, I'm hopeful when reading it) comment from Supernova about forGG! Hopefully he will come out fighting in the Code A qualifiers!

Damn, MVP struggling the same way Flash did. Well, soon he will be getting a surgery or other treatment. Too bad.

it's cool that mvp helped supernova to prepare for DRG as well :D

ganzi is such a chill guy, very promising player, really enjoyed his games vs leenock :0

nestea .. T_T why u gotta be same side of the bracket

oh well, next season they'll be far apart i hope, since both made it to ro8, they get to pick groups

thanks for the interviews!

I'm looking forward to hearing more about them too =D

i'm interested in a ro16 day 1 interview translation as well, maybe it's on the way?

feel bad for mvp, like others have said after this season he just needs to go and get it fixed and stop delaying it. ganzi is the man and i think forgg will tear shit up next season.

You know what, that's something popped up in my head when I heard Tastosis calling him the "Final Boss". My thought process was like:

Final Boss ----> Final Weapon -----> Ultimate Weapon.

Yeah, and because of the CTS too.

He did struggle, but not because he had problems playing vs T, rather because of poor scouting possibilities up until lair tech for Z .

Pro games really need to start some form of Carpal tunnel prevention ... i assume there are certain exercises ... or dunno what else. And do them regularly. This is just getting out of hand with every1 getting it.

EDIT: One other thing that popped to my mind some time ago, is that they could stop early game spam. Basically, every1 of them agrees that "warming up" , "staying at the same speed whole game" is bs. They all do it because of habit. If you can stop that intense 200-400apm spam in the first ~5-7min of the game....thats at least 30% less strain on your hands daily. It might be enough for some, even without any other method.

Prevent carpal tunnel by
- warming up your hands before play
- rest your forearms on the table ( don't lean your wrist on the edge of the table )
- have a proper DPI - mouse should move a couple of cm when crossing the screen
- take 5 min breaks between games

Treatment is probably costly and inneficient as carpal tunnel actually means micro-lesions to your tendons/joints.

OoooooOOoo yeaaa ) ForGG on the way into Code A. It's happening and Supernova loves practicing with forGG for T v T's hehee

Looks like MVP can just summon whoever the hell he wants to practice with ^^ but then again who doesn't want to play vs the #1 player, i feel bad for him about his wrists i guess he just wants to win a lot before going in for treatment as it will probably have a temporary effect on his skill, cant wait for his games vs nestea.

God, that both the ZvTs were so good. ZvT is a great matchup right now, doesn't appear to be any balance issues at the top pro level. Hopefully, we'll see more late-game ZvTs in the future.

I fear for MVP's wrists if he makes it to the finals, he could do serious harm to himself trying to win the GSl and participate in Blizzcon at the same time. I think he's being a boss about the whole thing though and will just make magic happen.

Nestea seems determined to give it his best but not overly confident which makes sense. His interview continued to confirm that he's a bit overly reliant on players doing what he expects them to. We know this can help him ( aka group stage where he trained himself to know all of MMA's common drop timings) or hurt him because he prepares his strategies around what he assumes his opponent is doing. He's till one of my fav players though so I'm hoping he can find a way to play a bit more flexibly ( also omfg please more epic base races like today) and continue to use banelings to crush everything like a boss.

Ganzi is adorable and seems to have a very nice attitude. I'm looking forward to seeing more of him.

Supernova is sosweet buying drinks for his practice partners. It seems like he's putting his serious face on though and will be a force to be reckoned with.

Really happy for MVP, but him talking about his wrists is depressing, especially considering he's been suffering from it since his BW days... . And lol@ all his practice partners
Ganzi seems like a really nice guy, guess the code A finals made him look more at MKP's style :D
