I hope he doesn't. If we see the previous DH tournaments there are not a lot of Americans invited. This will probably be the same this tournament. iNcontroL is not someone who deserves in invitation for his recent accomplishments.

I like the guy, he is funny to listen to, but that is about it. iNcontroL is not on the top of his game and can't compete with the best. I'd rather have someone else from the USA (Only Europeans and Koreans is good enough for me, but I can understand that DH will invite some Americans to please those fans.)

Both Sase and Naniwa has stated in interviews and on the stream that they want to go to Dreamhack winter, so hopefully we'll see them there.
I can no longer rest under the tree of wisdom, since you have axed down the roots feeding it.

Nice to hear this. I really enjoyed your casting in the NASL, and I think its a shame you quit. Do you what other casters will be going there? And by that I mostly mean Day9. He seems to really enjoy Sweden

(Z)Stephano Really needs to be at Dreamhack Winter. He's arguably one of the the most talented EU players and needs to be going to bigger events like this one.

You are aware that actually iNcontroL is quite good player and casting NASL was just a second job?

Ik looks like Orly won the Benelux qualifier (http://www.pack4dreamhack.nl/?p=2910), maybe this can be updated in the OP?

proud of what? of a high prizepool?
oh dear thats poor....

Yeah, cause national pride is soooo duuumb riight? If he feels proud about the fact that we have the biggest LAN-event in the world here, let him feel proud. It does not hurt anyone.

National pride is dumb. Being proud of something you have nothing to do with, (being born isn't exactly your own doing, neither that or the location of your birth) makes you look retarded. It doesn't hurt anyone..? wow kids these days.

So there's no point in the Olympics, NBA, Premier League, World Wars I and II etc.

Of course there is. National pride alienates citizens from other nations and helps drum up support for government (both the entity overall and the ruling party/ies). Given the tenuous balance of world peace up until relatively recently (and still in many parts of the world), it was vital to help ensure the survival of a nation, and still can be. The problem, of course, is that in the new globalized world, with easy travel to other nations for tourism, work, studies, visiting family/friends etc, these same qualities can be (and generally are) harmful in modernized coutries with fairly stable borders. It still has some use in that it fosters competitiveness, which can be good motivation, and success in sporting (and other) events will improve morale and general happiness in a nation, while losing rarely causes the opposite response.

I look forward to the day when athletes only represent themselves (or their clubs), not countries. It's kind of sad lines on a map dictate who people cheer for.

When you feel proud of a countryman doing well, it's not because of the fact they are born in within the borders of the country. Countries aren't the lands and borders, it's the people within them. Because people of the same country share certain cultural and social customs and ideas, not to mention a common language, it can make you feel proud or happy that someone with a comparable life to your own can do well. Another factor in this specific case is that Sweden is a tiny country but it is still able to produce events and players on par with those from far greater nations.

That being said, nationalism and national pride is a very bad thing, spurring an "us and them" mentality and a rationalization for militarism and aggression. It should never be more serious than rooting for your team in friendly competition.
