EDIT::: Today wasn't as busy, I think it has to do with the starting time. The slow wave of people makes it kind of awkward to get everyone interacting. Changing start time to 4:00. Swing by Friday for ZvP and TvT day!! Hoping to organize things better now that we know what to expect from these

I'll try and be around for at least the beginning of the scheduled time to help get things organized and started. I hope this helps us get a few more people in on this
What: I've completely given up on finding a team worth joining as a master league player looking to improve. Laddering helps make us better, sure... but not as much as actual practice.
So I've decided us master league players who want to improve need to band together, not to form a clan or a team, but just to start a practice group.
When: We will be focusing on specific matchups on different days. If there's a matchup you specifically want to work on, show up on that day.
-Monday 4 EST - Midnight will be PvT and ZvZ day.
-Wednesday 4 EST - Midnight will be ZvT and PvP day.
-Friday 4 EST - Midnight will be PvZ and TvT day.

Who: Masters league players only please. Non-masters players are allowed to obs if they wish. I don't see a reason why you can't, but if there are any complaints, this will be changed.
Where: NA Server on the channel Masters Practice Group
Why: First, we all have things we can teach each other. I'm a high masters zerg with garbage macro... My hotkey control and overall unit positioning are the only reason I'm a master. Gather a few others who are great in different areas like macro or scouting, and we can learn.
Second, laddering is bad... Play an XvP, and you learn a timing, learn something to look out for, you're excited to scout for it next game and shut it down. Then ladder queues you for a XvZ and you forget your vP lesson.
How: Show up after 4 EST on a practice day and get ready for today's matchup or obs if you wish.
As a side-note. Do those times work for those interested? I personally have night classes, and I know many have morning classes. I thought those times would be right in the middle and work best. I am open to suggestions.
The practice group is an idea that will hopefully take off well. I haven't run anything like this before, so we'll see how it goes Hope to see you guys there and watch everything go smoothly

I'm interested and the times almost work perfectly for me, I personally can't play before 3 and anything before 4:30 on Wednesdays.
Also, I was looking for something like this for a very long time when I was really in to the game, I'm not sure I'll show up or not for these now, but many thanks regardless!

Honestly i'd love to but the times are absurdly early for east coast. I'm in college and i don't get out of anything until 3-6 ish on weekdays. those times on weekends would be fine but maybe you should consider pushing it back a little bit later in the day?

These times cut off so many people, except maybe people in high school... should honestly be like 6-9 EST or even later (even then that is early for west coast players).

I dont understand why you made the times soo early when majority of players have work/school. Either way its a cool idea, and with a timechange can become pretty popular.

I feel 7-10 or 8-11 is more appropiate, even people in high school cant make those times b/c of the amount of homework that is given in some courses(Like me!)

I'm not going to lie, but the times are probably terrible for most people. I liveo n the East coast, and the earliest possible I could get home is 4PM. I don't see anyone on the west coast who goes to school/work being able to participate in this.
That being said, it is a good idea. Maybe on weekends we could have dedicated obs games or koth games? That would be pretty fun.

I'm guessing if this becomes successful for you guys, the channel will prove as a frequent hangout spot for those wanting practice etc. I think the ideal endgoal for something like this is to have a community hanging out there playing 24/7 O_O. This is a great idea, except for the times...perhaps it would be better to extended it to the whole day, rather than just a few hours each they (maybe it would be good to do this once the group is popular). Also, it would be great if this could be done for other leagues as well; there should be a diamond player organizing something like this for diamond players, a plat players organizing something like this for plat players....and so on. This may also help players from other divisions invading the master's chat room...

I like all of this.
I've been trying to find something somewhat like this idea for a while and just couldn't find it.... Figured I'd bite the bullet and make it myself and just hope everything goes smooth considering I have 0 experience with organizing anything.
My main fear with making it extend throughout the whole day is that we won't ever have enough people to make it worthwhile. But yes, if there's enough interest, we could try making it last the entire day.
Also, when looking to see if something like this existed, I found the platinum-diamond practice group. So if any plats or diamonds are looking for something like this, the thread is here

Yeah I don't have the time on the weekdays but weekends would work perfect for me, and at a later time also.
edit: why don't you just say all times and people can join the channel to practice. This could just be the master;s practice channel. I don't see a reason to put times and dates on it.

There are people still using the channel 'game time', I think people there are atleast high diamond, there are master level guys there sometimes too.

Yeah, 'Game Time' is a good channel. I would say that there are mostly masters players in that channel, and some diamond players as well. It may be good to stop by that group to let them know about your idea, SeeDLing.

I sure wouldn't mind coming and watching some master toss players play. Should help me to realize what i'm doing wrong and the little things I can tweak and improve my play. Then hopefully I'll be able to play with you guys

Definately a good source of Master players. I played 1 rage artist so far. Looked for someone else and have played 4 straight games and good practice too. Nice discussion and theory crafting. Pretty awesome place for some of us friendless wonders.

Yes the skill difference is a bit high, but it definitely beats the platinum plus PUG channels or just randomly searching for someone.

I only intended for this to be a 3 day a week, structured channel, but participants from Monday stayed and are continuing to play games and make friends there. For instance, it's currently 10:55PM EST on Tuesday, we have 35 people in the channel.

Glad you're still enjoying it. Bnet 2.0 has no channel moderation so unfortunately there's nothing that can be done about ragers. Just take your "business" elsewhere x.x

It starts off mostly finding games, but when you play a series of games with the same small group of people playing and obsing, you definitely get discussion too. had some good baneling practice and some good zvz discussion, and I felt it was a huge success for me.
met some new buddies who will hopefully be willing to practice some more baneling vs baneling even when it isn't zvz day! clearly my baneling micro needs further work if i can't take a build order win in a baneling war (:

Apparently, this channel sort-of-not-really-I'm-not-totally-sure died, but there are still a few frequent faces that ask "anyone 1v1" and get games going. The rare koth is sometimes organized, but nothing like the XvX WORKSHOP advertised here.
If anyone out there is still thinking about starting an actual practice group, or knows of another active channel that could use some more traffic, please post, or try and ambush someone in the "masters practice group" channel.

Another shameless bump...
We still have people getting games here. A bunch of us are usually laddering / AFK / customs, though...I'm sure if there were more people bumping around yelling things, there would be more of an incentive to start obs games / etc.

I play games with people from this group a lot, and the answer is yes. I've played a lot of #1-8 ranked masters and even a GM.

I havent ever practiced with people here.. but is the manner ok? I'll admit that there may be times that i go there to practice all in's and such and i dont wanna be BM'd and raged on.
