from http://team-aaa.com/news-19350-0-1-check-six_appate_deux_membres_de_mvp.html (from http://www.playxp.com/sc2/news/view.php?article_id=3224486)
Stormy weather in Korea as well as in MvP, just one week after the deal signed with compLexity, its manager and one of its players chose to join US Team Check-Six.
The player is the Protoss Kim "Lure" Do Kyeong which was defeated first round of Code A against Jeong MVP Jong Hyeon during last GSL season. But he managed to deal with the fearsome qualifications and at only 16 years old is maybe one of the rising stars of the Korean scene.
The surprise is the departure from the manager, Ahn Min Woo, from confidential PlayXP sources he is the one who convinced the young player to follow him in the US powerhouse Check Six. The new couple and their new team had trouble communicating in a first time, but Kim "Shadow" You Sik, Korean already member of Check-Six's SC2 section and exchange student in the US stepped in to make the process easier.
Right now this info hasn't been confirmed by CHeck Six, this surprise departure may also result from a misunderstanding inside MvP's staff about the deal signed with coL last week.

So pumped at all the cross-region love players and teams are showing.
|
Wow, 1 week later. I wonder what the Korean reaction will be to this now...?
|
So many Koreans joining foreign teams, wow.
|
Interesting news. 16 y/o is pretty young in SC2 scene for a pro, so maybe his potential is very great
|
I wonder if all of these Koreans joining foreign teams will help increase the skill level of the foreigners to compete with Koreans at events like MLG.. It is all very interesting indeed!
|
I'm very surprised that the manager left? Actually kind of shocked that he would leave the team he built. Sad to here.
|
Are there any koreans left?
This sure is getting interesting. Nice to have more connections across the globe.
|
Yet another one. We'll see in due time if this situation proves to be for better or worse.
|
Wow alot of koreans Transfering to other teams many more will probably do aswell :/
|
lol i thought someone lured MVP to Check-Six. -phew-

*cringe*
lets hope not.

I can see some non-GSL Koreans move over since getting into Code A is super difficult, but I wouldn't worry about the top level players. We might see one or two big names like Puma switch over if they don't stay in the GSL Code A/S system, but Korea will probably lock down most of the top players with contracts after the EG/Puma debacle.
All in all, a Korean prospect is switching over to an American team to have a better shot at making money. Since he got knocked out of the GSL, he'll have a tough time getting back in after losing in the first round of Code A.
Weirdest thing is the manager leaving. I liked the coach, but I always disliked his choices in matches. Maybe now they'll use Keen/Genius more in the GSTL and not force DongRaeGu to 3-kill every match to save their ass.

K what team will get a korean tomorrow? Lol this is getting absolutely ridiculosu
|
One after one, they will come.

YEAH fnatic's not so special anymore? jk .
No it is crazy at how many teams are getting koreans right now lol.

Lure moving isn't really that gigantic, though. From what I remember, he showed promise in Code A, but wasn't that great.
I just wonder who'll take over as coach now? Maybe a player will go the Choya route and become coach now that they have funding by Complexity?
|
this is kinda cool really. it's like so much trading is going on.
|
KR,
Couldn't agree more. I wonder how this will effect the GSTL.

Nestea to EG for $500,000.

Oh god please no >.<
|
What the hell has been going on these past few weeks? I can understand Koreans joining foreign teams but what's with the coach leaving?
|
Interesting...
Just to be clear: manager == coach, right?
|
I don't understand why the manager would leave. Especially if he can't speak english.
|
CheckSix hwaitingggg!!! These guys have a great team and Lure is only gunna make them better. I'm excited to see that the manager is going to do.
|
In the future, SlayerS will be the only team left in Korea. The Korean scene is getting fked up

Maybe they want to bring over more Korean players? I'm sure a Korean player would rather join a team with a Korean coach than a team where no one speaks their language in a foreign country at such a young age.
I wouldn't worry about MVP. They have one of the largest teams in Korea and have a ton of great prospects like Dream, Monster, etc. They'll be fine if they can find a coach to take his spot. Violet is the captain, so maybe he'll take over.

Koreans finally realizing it's way easier to make money at foreigner tournaments.

Oh, alright. So they still have their coach. I don't like his decisions sometimes in games, but he seems like a really nice guy, so good for MVP.
I'm guessing with Complexity teaming up with MVP, the manager felt pushed out the door maybe? MVP should be totally fine, though. Lure was a nice prospect, but they're one of the largest teams in Korea.

Way easier to get access to playing into the tournaments actually. Code A/S format is a very tough format. Combine that with SC2 being more popular internationally compared to Korea and you have the recipe for players looking for opportunities elsewhere.
|
Man, you guys are fast
|
Yeap... the guy who has been appearing on the GSTL I think is the coach.
Also, it should be noted that a lot of (about 5 or so) MVP players left quite a while back and Lure was one of them, so it isn't really a case of foreign teams taking Korean players, but these players leaving the teams and finding new foreign teams.
Here it is. It was announced on S2con on the 24th of June, meaning they probably left a little earlier than that: http://s2con.com/xe/Notice/8284
Players who left:
Galaxy --> Now with Gosugamers Lure --> Now with x6 HwangSin --> Now with It's Gosu Avenge Aya

More details, please?
|
Who is check six? Don't think I've ever seen their players....(unless sixJax? )
Also I would love for some foreign teams to grab some korean coaches. The player talent in europe and NA is definitely just as good as korea, just the training isn't. So I would love to see some training regimens brought over.

move makes zero sense to me

Was checksix the upstart organization referenced during the EG drama?
Edit: The one trying to snipe players like mad?

Basically 5 MVP players left, and this was announced nearly a month ago on the 24th of June--HwangSin, Galaxy, Lure, Avenge and Aya. So they were all teamless for nearly a month. And now HwangSin, Galaxy and Lure have found teams (all three different ones).
Perhaps x6 may have been inquiring and as you put it "sniping" players. But as far as this signing goes, this was a clean signing and gives no evidence to say that they've been sniping players.

I'm speculating, I admit it. But if I had to bet, I'd bet check six was the team referenced.
Btw, are you a big check six fan? You abbreviated it x6... kinda strange.

x6 is their tag though. I can remember it back in CS days I think..

Statement is coming soon boys, don't worry. Thanks for all the interest.
|
If multiple koreans keep going to foreigner events then it will be much harder for them to win foreign tournaments as well.
|
@_@
not to harp on Check Six, but do they have the money to afford a korean player?
|
Congrats to x6! One day, they'll have a super awesome amazing lineup (yay thisisjimmy!), this could be the start of something awesome :D.

Why did these 5 leave MVP? Not good enough?

I'd say we already have a super awesome lineup But that's just me.
|
this is kind of cool but i don't really understand the point of most of these?
Not this thread's case, but like others. This one the player actually is joining CheckSix, right? but in the other threads there are players just representing more than one team, I'm guessing so the sponsors get more advertising in and the players get some more money? Is that right?

Great news. This is exciting! :D

Isn't Galaxy still with MVP a bit though? I thought LastShadow+Him were gonna practice a lot at the B-team house for MVP?

Considering most korean teams don't provide salaries, and this player is relatively unknown, I can't imagine it would be too much on an issue. Plus not really sure how you would know about their money situation? Not trying to be condescending, it just seems like a weird assumption to make
|
Nothing is really suprising about these moves any more. The Korean SC2 teams are mostly young organizations without a lot of experience on the business side of things. It is only natural that players are going to migrate towards those teams which can provide support. At this point that seems to be the established teams in the west, and perhaps in the future long running BW teams will open up SC2 divisions.
I'm for anything that gives the players a better chance to compete and live with some level of comfort.

Very interesting piece of news.

MVP still has a very stacked line up, with the likes of dream, violet, tails, nobelesse, keen, genius, guinea pig, DRG and some others.

we cant have Korean teams falling apart. T_T

While we are planning to release and official statement, I can assure you we are not trying to snipe players and we have no intentions of picking up the players mentioned in that article.

Surprising to see the team being Check-Six since they haven't done a whole lot since SC2. Good luck to them.

Nice..nearly won him zzz just..need...better..army control

Eventually every foreigner tourney will be clogged with Koreans on foreign teams, and it's going to be awesome.

I dunno where you're getting at that since no Korean team has closed their door yets. You're jumping to conclusions.

I guess this is one way that foreign teams can become better... ^^"

Oh god, i should probably clarify this if the article's going to say things like
Stormy weather in Korea as well as in MvP, just one week after the deal signed with compLexity, its manager and one of its players chose to join US Team Check-Six.
....
The surprise is the departure from the manager, Ahn Min Woo
.....
Right now this info hasn't been confirmed by CHeck Six, this surprise departure may also result from a misunderstanding inside MvP's staff about the deal signed with coL last week.
First of all, back in 6/19, on the same night of the GSL July qualifiers, a number of MvP players left the team. Officially, the reason for their departure was overcrowding. Unofficially I won't get into specifics, but that doesnt mean they were all forced out (some left by their own free will). Since then the ex-MvP players have been looking for teams, and some have joined successfully. (example: HwangSin joining team itsgosu, Galaxy joining GosuGamers), while others are still looking for teams.
The manager Ahn Min Woo (to be honest I don't know when exactly he left) was already out before the complexity deal occurred and he already wanted to go to a foreign team before then. So no, the article shouldn't be exaggerating about some drama
|
I guess we need more information, but having the manager leave looks weird. I hope it's not going to spur some foreigner/korean drama again :s.
|
|
Here we have another translator breaking a PlayXP story in the middle of the night before the foreign team has a chance to comment. I thought we learned our lesson here...
