To win: QXC - Gotta love this guy, he's really good now w a great personality HuK - Love this guy Jinro - Needs to get some confidence White-Ra: Bombed out of NASL for being to greedy, hope he plays more solid and less fancy
To fail: MAjor - Dislike his name changing and that SEA tourney thing, i also dislike his manner mules (only his) Destiny - I used to like him, but i was watching his stream and he said smth like "I was gonna win a game, then i started lagging, so the guy lifts his buildings and waits for me to lag out, it's a fuckign joke, fucking hate this server (korea)" Geez, it's just the ladder

What? Tons of people have said Tyler/Nony.
|
To win: MajOr: He's a really good player, say what you will about his attitude. Choya: He seems like a really nice guy, and people dislike him for some reason MVP: Really good player, seems like he's in a slump.
To lose: Eh, I don't dislike anybody really.
|
To Win:
MMA - Title defence would be really really cool IdrA - Kid is sick White-Ra / any toss.
To Lose: Destiny: is riding the Infestor buff to fame. Seriously.. Choya: Unimpressive Toss

Zerg: DESTINY
Hoping he pulls out some new stuff, and really prepares some builds that don't feature QUITE so many infestors. I don't think he has any chance of making it all the way without them, but I'd like to see him go deep in the tournament regardless. He's just fun to watch.
Honorable Mentions: Spanishiwa, Catz, Sen. Other than Sen, none of these players are what I would initially consider the very best of SC2 pros, but anyone that says they don't like seeing Catz proxy-hatch someone or Spanishiwa's army of queens drop a million transfuses is a dirty liar. And Sen... Well. YOU SEE. YOU SEE. No, but seriously, you newbie.
Terran: TLO
It's freakin TLO, man! I love seeing him just throws standard unit compositions completely out the window, and no pro loves Nukes more than him. Also, I'm just really excited to see him back in (what I hope will be) top form, after a lackluster performance in NASL.
Honorable mentions: Thorzain, Select, QXC. Thorzain's style and ability really impressed me in the TSL, and I've always loved Select's relentless harass from all sides. And, of course, with QXC's recent performance in the GSTL, I think we'd all like to see him given a chance to go back and bring some more pain.
Protoss: WHITE-RA
Special Tactics. You see. Is good. For much the same reason as TLO - If White-Ra gets his bearings in a game, crazy shit gonna happen, and I love every minute of it.
Honorable Mentions: MC, Ace, and InControl. I just love MC's personality (and interviews - penix imba-imba!), and Ace... I dunno, man, after NASL it seems like he's just always willing to base-trade, and there were some incredibly epic games with him where nobody had shit. As for InControl, I don't really have any interest in his play, to be honest, but he seems like a pretty cool dude and I like him on the webshows and as a caster.
You may notice I didn't mention Boxer. And you know why? Because it's Freaking Boxer and I don't have to mention him for you to know I want him to win the whole thing.

If there's one person in the world that I'd want to do well - it's definitely LimYoHwan. Not only because "hes limyohwan, duh", but also because a lot of people just say that "he's all washed up and should stop it", that is the definitely the wrong attitude to project onto others. He could finally show something to those naysayers if he did well in MLG.
Other two. Hm. Well Nada is in a similar position, I guess I have a sweet spot for the old guys who still got it. And of course my favorite player - idra the lovable IBM monster.
Players who I'd not like to do well - MC. As much as I've changed my mind about him, I used to hate him for cheesing whitera out of DH, I still think he's a bit too cocky for his own good. I guess that's it.

I just want Destiny to do well. I'm not worried about the Koreans, because they always do well :3
|
To Win: DRG - Needs to get into the GSL, he is so sick. Huk - Total Baller and shown good results lately Koreans - Koreans fighting!!
To Lose: Major - I don't like him Most foreigners - like Destiny/Catz and others MMA - Overrated? Maybe

Come on guys. that's just a little fucked up. How? There are haters for players and teams of other sports (Yankees for one) I hate making that argument, but I don't see anything wrong with people talking about those players that they do not like. I like reading this thread because it builds hype, for the successes and the failures. I will probably f5 this thread until MLG Anaheim is over i guess it's not terrible, but most of the reasons are stupid. I also hate when people make that point btw. SC should be taken seriously as a sport, but trying to imitate them in every way is a bit pathetic. The people that watch SC2 aren't the same people who watch baseball (for the most part). We're aloud to be unique, and we're aloud to have our own identity.
I guess i can see your point though. Like i said, some of the reasons just seem really stupid. like OP saying he wants slush to "Fail" because he won't take a GSL seed. Just seems a little harsh

Rooting for:
-IdrA (although I don't think he'll do very well this event) -White-Ra -NonY -BoxeR -Demuslim
I don't really have any players I particularly don't like :/

I'd like to see jinro put up a good result. Don't know if he can take 1st but anything in the top 3 would be a good to get him on the right track again. Dream final would be huk/drg in the finals if thats possible despite them being in the same group. as for losses no one in particular but i'd like to see a couple new faces in the top seeds.

My hopes to win:
An EG zerg other than Idra. Machine and Strifecro are both very skilled and I really hope they can bring their A-game and beat some Koreans.
Sheth. He showed a lot of promise during his short stay in Korea and I really think he has what it takes to do well, if he believes he can do it.
Destiny. Amazingly fun player to watch, a pioneer of infestor usage. If his macro can stay strong and if he can win battles cost effectively I think he can finally breakout and do well in a tournament.
Hopes to fail:
Idra. I don't have anything against the guy and I enjoy his occasional BM in-game. I think he will do very well, but he has mental blocks that he needs to overcome for him to win. I respect the guy as a player and an individual, but as long as he thinks zerg isn't "supposed to win", I don't want him to win.
The Koreans. I want MLG Anaheim's top eight to be mostly foreigners. If you watch streams you know that all the Americans and Europeans have a grudge right now, they want to beat the Koreans and have generally been practicing harder than ever before. I hope the Koreans are given a run for their money this weekend.

Tyler/Nony: This is my #1 hope for Anaheim...seeing Tyler show some of his incredible potential in a tournament setting. The last few months have been pretty tough for us Tyler fans; but if he dedicates himself properly, I'm sure he can dominate anew. NOOOONY!
Slayers_Boxer: He's the Emperor. He's also been having a tough last few months, and a big win or two in Anaheim could go a long way towards putting him back in form. Plus, you know, he's the Emperor.
Jinro: Same deal. Awesome player, awesome mod from way back when (FrozenArbiter fighting!), and someone who's also been fading from the limelight recently. A good run at MLG could give him a much-needed confidence boost, and perhaps even rocket him back to the top of the scene where he belongs.
Yes, I'm a sucker for hard-luck cases.
And I love everyone, soooo...

Win: (Realistically) DRG / The guy's a beast. (Unrealistically) Boxer / Free Code S + Proof he's good? Hell yeah (Realistically) MMA / Deserves Code S so bad
All the FXO guys and HD, for the lulz
Lose: can't think of anyone. Maybe Idra, just because it won't be as interesting.
|
Wait, wait.. let me get this straight.. you guys hope vileSpanishiwa fails because SOMEONE ELSE hyped him up? That's pretty fucked up and retarded on levels unimaginable.
|
Rooting to win/do well: coLTriMaster (brother) Boxer (want him in Code S or at least Code A again =( ) MVP (one of my favorite players, think he can definitely make it to Code S)
mentionables: Sterling, Destiny, MMA
Rooting to fail: Major - manner DRG - Just my opinion that he is overrated (not a top 2 finish). I think he is good enough for a top 5 finish though. Spanisha - Same reason as DRG.
I'm not saying, "I HOPE THEY FAIL" in regards to DRG and Spanishwa, but just that I think they are not as good as everyone says they are (though "not good" to DRG means not finishing top 2 at MLG).
|
Sterling, Hashe and Catz to do well. all of them are great streamers and I would love for them to get some nice results too
|
you should call this thread: 3 hopes to succeed, 3 players I take a shit on.
It started out alright with the 3 to succeed but when it comes to fail it's so biased and pretty bm that it's a blogpost at best. Regarding spanishiwa you want him to fail so his fanboys will shut up, which they wont as you said yourself. I dont get it. Major...sure he maybe has it coming but after the whole sea thing I'm pretty sure what the community thinks. Yet here you are saying how you want him to fail at keeping up his livelihood. That's pretty fucked up really. Regarding Slush it doesnt matter where he places and doesnt take a code a spot, it will just go to the next one down so that isnt even relevant.
