Plus this girl might motivate the male players to do even better.
But ye, don't be naive, it's glaringly obvious she will achieve nothing and will most likely almost never plays and loses all her matchs.

Your ingenuousity is touching. Your spelling is equally amazing. ontopic: She's probably NOT living at the house. We can't judge her play because we don't have confirmed info on her. Props to Slayers for being progressive. Even if she's not going to play much if at all, they're still giving a young girl an opportunity to live the progamer dream!

Socially, I think men have a higher tendency to express their gaming habits publicly let alone be a professional gamer. So it would be understandable if the pool of high skill female gamers is not automatically ready to roll on a moments notice. It will take a while for both pro teams to raise up their female representatives with the training and what not and time for the gaming community to stop freaking out about females in general. But hopefully it will become more common because there is only so much Tossgirl can do on her own. Good point. The thing is, a lot of Korean players, especially those in Slayers, tend to be picked up while they're still mediocre and haven't been refined yet. Slayers doesn't try to pick up existing top players. Now, all of what I said is common knowledge, but the only reason people are questioning the decision now is because she is female. If she were male, then she'd just be another potential player of Slayers who could turn out to be the next MMA, or just another dud. Most people here have the wrong idea and think a girl should only be picked up on a team if she's already proven to be top level. With that level of thinking though, we'll never see any girls in progaming. We need more female players to step up, whether they're the best or just mediocre. As long as they have the competitive spirit, they are potential star players. Unfortunately, because they're unique right now, they have to 'represent all female players,' and if they fail competitively, some close minded people will just assume all girls suck and can't play with the men. It's a similar thing with foreigners in Korea. Right now people are putting undue pressure on FXO, and say idiotic things like "FXO embarrassed us, if only we had an all star team of foreigners go!" Well guess what, if we waited for the 'all star team' then it would never happen, and we would never go to Korea for fear of failing. Huk and Jinro and FXO are paving the way for foreigners, this girl is paving the way for female players. That's the big picture. Nailed it. If she works hard and learns quickly she'll improve tenfold. Sometimes people forget that teams aren't only about getting a bunch of amazing players together to win leagues but also about paving the way for the next generation of player.

I remember there was a girl gamer who went 3 gate robo and pushed with zealot sentry stalker immortal combo against terran. She actually was quite impressive with her consistent build ![]()

Can the Slayers team make it any more obvious that they just chose her b/c of her looks/the fact that she is a girl? Come on now. Are you sure there're tons of them out there in Korea that are master/GM? Can you name some?

Though I'm not sure if I can agree Slayers recruiting someone just because shes a cute girl rather than a good gamer if this is indeed the case and I find that hard to believe. I do hope that she can compete and not just be a pretty face in their line up, thats what they have Cella for! At the very least this might be good publicity for Slayers and might encourage some girls to pick up the game.

Can the Slayers team make it any more obvious that they just chose her b/c of her looks/the fact that she is a girl? Come on now. How many girls in Masters/GM are there? And as many have pointed out in the thread, the point isn't to recruit a top player. Slayers (and more important, Boxer) has always been about finding untapped potential in players. I'm not saying this girl will become a bonjwa, but writing her off just because she isn't hot shit at this very moment is a crucial mistake that MMA's and iloveoov's victims made. There are definitely quite a few masters level girls based off girl interviews I've read on this website, gm I am not sure though. I don't understand this whole "potential" concept though, or recruiting people based off of potential. Either you've done well and have evidence to prove it, or simply put you haven't tried yet. Everybody in the world has potential, I don't see why somebody who's gold/diamond should get into a fairly prestigious team because she has "potential". It's like applying for a CEO position in which you have very little education or work experience but claiming that you have potential. If managers hired everybody with "potential", they would hire practically every person who applied. In reality that does not work out because most "potential" cases don't end up being successful. That's why managers/companies hire people who have work experience/education because they know that they have done work in the past that will prove that they will most likely be successful in this position, therefore ensuring a greater possibility that the managers don't need to do more work and find other employees to replace this one. Same concept with teams who recruit new members. If teams just recruited a bunch of gold/plat players with potential...most likely you won't end up with a GM/masters team. In terms of hiring this girl...clearly she has very little credentials. She played BW when she was in elementary...that's like saying I want to apply to become a computer programmer and I learned how to use the keyboard when I was in grade 5. There is no evidence as far as I can tell that she is even close to masters...hell GM or has ever even won a tourney. Clearly no resume of starcraft high-level experience...so why would they hire her? If you can prove this to me I've love to hear it, but my argument simply comes back to the point that they simply hired her b/c she is a girl. That is the only explanation I can think of when I try to think why they recruited her. I can't imagine that the best girl in korea is Gold/diamond though...that'd be absurd. If megumixbear is what...masters? And she lives in NA? I seriously cannot imagine that they are no masters level girls in korea considering how many people play that game over there.

Im sure it's not some huge publicity stunt, noone would put their team on the line like that. Also it is said that she has won an ammature tournament, so we will have to wait and see.
