Return of Day[9] and Apollo
Day[9] and Apollo returns to DreamHack to give world class commentary of the DreamHack SAPPHIRE AMD Championship in StarCraft II. The Official Shoutcasting-Duo is ready and settled for DreamHack Summer 2011 June 18-21.

As part of the DreamHack SAPPHIRE AMD Championship sponsored by SteelSeries, EIZO, SAPPHIRE and AMD we’re proud to announce the official commentators for the DreamHack Summer 2011.

Sean ”Day[9]” Plott and Shaun ”Apollo” Clark, the popular duo from DreamHack Winter 2010, returns to be official casters in the primary StarCraft II stream produced by DreamHack in co-operation with Day[9].TV and streamed live at Justin.TV. They will do the official commentary of the best matches in the group stage as well as the Playoffs including Semi Finals and Grand Final.

Sean”Day [9]” Plott is a American player that went into shoutcasting after creating his own video show Day[9] Daily and hosted a live streamed 12-hour launch party for StarCraft II in Los Angeles. Day [9] is famous for his deep strategic analysis mixed with a personal, smart and funny approach to eSports. Day[9] is working with all the big leagues including ESL and MLG and we’re proud to welcome him back to Sweden one more time.

Shaun “Apollo” Clark is a British Zerg player with a long experience of strategy games – including a world champion title in Command&Conquer at WCG 2007. As part of Team Dignitas he mostly provides the community with private lessons and have done professional commentary for leagues like ESL, WCG and DreamHack. Apollo was selected as one of DreamHack’s main casters during 2011 and hosted the DreamHack Stockholm Invitational and will continue do that during all upcoming events this year.

All group stage and playoffs-matches will be broadcasted from a special StarCraft II-stage similar to last year. DreamHack will present details about the stage and also the featured matches that Day[9] and Apollo will commentate.

Day9 is awesome and apollo is ok in my eyes, but I was kinda hoping for more 2GD... Its easy to imagine 2GD turning Day9 into a constant laughtrack :> I hope he is still around as a host for the event!

Too bad it isn't Demuslim and apollo again. That was a great mesh of casters, day9 doesnt fit with apollo.

If they would have two (or more) streams instead of one I would be extatic. Day9 and Apollo in all honor, but they won't able to cover nearly as many games as I would like, especially from the group stage. MLG have more casters and multiple streams for the next tournament, so in theory (if MLG actually get their streams to work as intended) they have the edge atm for me. But if the streams works as flawless as the last dreamhack I'll get over it.

Great casters. Would be cool to have 2GD host again since he did an excellent job at the Dreamhack invitational.

I remember the last event Day9 and Apollo casted, a few of us ended up muting it so we could atleast enjoy the games >_< they are fine solo but the duo clashed too much, lets hope they've improve. Oh and here is waiting to see if dApollo buttons up his shirt this time around his lovely pink chest was rather off putting last time.

Ahh the original casting pair is back, but I must say, I enjoyed the De-Apollo archon's casting quite a lot too, Dapollo felt a lot more comfortable with demuslim.. And the master of ceremonies (the guy who made trollish kinda cool jokes) was quite good too.
But either way looking forward to dh!

Awesome awesome.

Although, since they can't possibly cover all the games, here's hoping we'll see 2GD (quite possibly one of the most entertaining human beings to ever walk this world) and TotalBiscuit (he did a great job covering the majority of the group stages during DH Winter) as well. If TLO and DeMuslim aren't playing themselves, they're really hot candidates for co-casting as well. They blew me away in WCG and DH Invitational.

Excited for the event and working again with Sean, I have been working hard on my commentary over the past months and really pumped to express my hard work and hope that I can win some of you over who dislike my commentary. For those of you coming to DH, see you there and for the ones watching online, expect a historic event.

Great casting duo, I haven´t been this pumped for an E-sport event since Deathrow vs Team9 in Quake but this is obviously on a completely different level. I´m starting to get the kind of excitement I usually only get for a Football World championship with Sweden in it, the only thing missing is Nestea, MVP and a couple more Americans

I was kind of hoping for 2GD to cast, as he provided the funniest casting I've seen to date during the swedish WCG-qualifier.

But either way, it's solid choice, can't really complain.
It would be nice to see some players do some guest casting as well, don't know quite how many games are casted.

Does Dreamhack have any plans to have a larger venue somehow, or use maybe the mainstage for the SC2 finals? Feel like going there for one day just to watch SC2, but would be really bunned out if there is no way to get in to the stage since it's stuffed since early morning.

Hopefully this is true and I'm glad you say you are working on it, I think you've improved from DH-Winter to the DH-Invitational at least but maybe it was cause of the co-casters being different,

Personally I'm not really into the 2 "hype" caster scenario I feel it should be like football with 1 calm, analytical guy chipping in with the great knowledge of actually playing the game on a competetive level.

DjWheat + IdrA is the best example of this in Sc2 so far and Tastosis do this in a way that makes the games and casting really enjoyable.

Whatever the casting is the event will be awesome cause of the player pool alone anyway so don't feel too much pressure from the haters.

ok thats it... got my ticket after reading this, was awesome last time with day9 casting, he's such a nice guy in person too.
also for those who want 2GD you should keep in mind that there is going to be a quake tournament and also BLC (the game he works with), and since he's a quake caster i'd assume they would use him for those events.

the brilliant thing about dreamhack is , that they show so much games, when not all!

Not that I'm biased or anything, but I would really love to see 2GD as host with Demuslim and Apollo commentating for the triple threat British combo.

Some dynamic TLO + 2gd duo could be awesome as well. But yeah, 2gd will probably be commentating some Bloodline Champion matches. (Which is awesome as well)

Apollo[9]! Awesome! While you were decent at DH winter, by the time the invitational came around you were really good d.Apollo, so I have no doubt that you'll be excellent for this. This tourney is looking better and better.

Apollo has such an annoying casting style compared to Day9's perfect analysis. He just said "if ThorZaiN attacks now, he'll win!" and then ThorZaiN attacked and got raped, hahah

i'm not liking day9's casting. he kind of shouts/talks really loud as if he's voice is on 11, and makes me feel really edgy. even during down times such as the beginning of the match.

and i'm not such a huge fan of how he calls a lot of the games amazing when they're pretty mediocre. even the latest july v thorzain match, the game was exceptionally mediocre with very sloppy play in a lot of instances.

day9, you're a great caster, but chill the fuck out, relax when you're casting, you don't have to call out every part of each players play as amazing when it's clearly not.

Meh I'd prefer him to try and make it exciting rather than sit there and say, well this is just mediocre play, both players suck, this is already over 5 minutes before the gg, and yawning and checking his watch. That really isn't something a good sportscaster would do, so why expect a good esportscaster to be bad like that as well?
srsly

That's your opinion, everyone has one, it would be impossible for him to match everyone's opinion on the games he's casting.

Personally, i like how Day[9] gets excited when stuff happens.

You are entitled to your own opinion, but that series was amazing. The way Thorzain held on for so long in game one, and even so in game three was very entertaining. The reason play was sloppy was because of the constant aggression that July was applying. I would like to see any other foreign Terran respond even remotely as well as ThorZain did.

Thorzain is a monster. July is a monster. That was a monster series.

I like D. Apollo, I just don't like how he says this is very exciting every 20 seconds. No complaints though, I think he's great. Wish he'd be at more events though D:

I like how day 9 throws in a joke here and there, i think they're an excellent duo and that Apollo does know a lot about the game.

One complaint? A lot of "oh noeees" on both side -.-

Did you forget about the other half of the country that isn't in the same timezone... ie. California which is 3 hours behind. I would say a lot of people would be waking up around 1pm, a lot of people would be gaming hard on their Saturday night staying up late, or the casuals who actually went out on a saturday to drink wouldn't be waking up that early either. Not everyone is on the east coast.
