We've gotten a lot of feedback lately about how hard it is to find information about BIG events like the TSL on TeamLiquid.net.

Thus, we've decided to create a BIG event tracker where you can follow BIG events.

omg this is awesome, how can i make this interface with my rainmeter? Right now I have the TL calendar on my desktop but frankly I don't care about 90% of the events on the calendar, just the "big ones". Is there an rss feed or something I could use?

This is non Trivial. Nicely done. Everything one could want. Hell what I like most are the start/end dates and the brackets.

The tournament tracker is intended as a resource for players to find out about tournaments to enter. The BIG event tracker is for people interested in coverage of an event. There is a bit of overlap, but they are intended to do two different things.

I really like this, but I can't help but wonder if this was motivated at least in part by what wellplayed.org is doing. I've been looking for something like this for a while now, and when I saw a similar collection of data on wp I was very excited, then this came out a week later.

If this is the case that would be awesome, because competition spurring innovation will only make the community better and stronger.

Brilliant, the only reason I didn't use the tournament tracker was because it was filled with events I really didn't give two shits about. Only used the sidebar thing to see what's coming in the near future.

This is very useful.

There's been a few times I would have liked this as sometimes it can be quite hard to find information on the calendar due to all the smaller events. This'll definitely be useful in the future. Great addition to the site.

It's defined by its Bigness obviously.

On a more serious note I'd venture a guess and say it's defined by a combination of what players are in it, prize pool, level of hype, etc. It's obvious that GSL, TSL, and such are BIG.

Really like this feature though, pretty handy for keeping track of those BIG tournaments.

Of all the "top sites" for different competitive games out there, Team Liquid is the best by far.
Unless of course you count ESPN. Then Team Liquid is #2.

Would CES Indianapolis count as a "big" event? It is a lan and has a $5k prizepool just like the IGN one.

Incidentally, the time on the calendar is wrong, as it is from 8am-12am EDT on April 9, not 4am D:

This is fucking brilliant. I remember one day on Weapon of Choice Chill was talking about people who aren't familiar with TL have no idea how to find brackets/schedules/results and all that. They just don't know which forums to dig through and so forth. With so much information only one click away, this big event tracker is the perfect solution. And the TSL3 website came out today too! Keep the hits coming guys, my hat is off to you.

Holy crap, this is getting a little out of hand. I used to love teamliquid when it was just any ordinary website, but all these improvements are just mindboggling. I didn't think it was possible, but it would appear everytime i log on to TL i love it even more. You guys are so awesome!!!

now all you gotta do is make an "events" button that goes right under the "calendar" button and i'll be set.
I only make 5 actions per minute. But since I use all my time deliberating and planning, my 5 actions are so brutally devastating that children cry out and grown men weep.

Excellent, this is exactly what I want – a way of distilling the amazing amount of tourneys going on right now to the stuff I want/need to pay attention to. Thank you.

Wow. I was actually thinking about suggesting something like this, with this functionality, earlier this week. The Calender and Tournament forums are so full of noise that it can get hard to filter out exactly what you are looking for. This is exactly what I needed !

I was originally thinking of something similar to the calendar but where you could set some options for which events were shown. A box to check for lan tournaments only, A minimum value for the award etc. You could then sort the remaining entries chronologically or by highest prize money. A list like this would probably be what I would end up using such a tool for anyway so I guess there is no need for it. At least not for me.

how do you determine which events are BIG and those which are not BIG?

either Lan events with alot of big names in it(the ones that are in now, + IEM, MLG, Dreamhack, GSL)

and a few selected online tournaments, but those should be very few(like TSL, NASL, IGN ect)

that is what i would concider big

suggestion that may or may not improve the experience:

the "upcoming events" thing in the sidebar (and calendar) could have custom icons next to BIG events (or a different color from normal events). Also, the threshold for 'upcoming BIG events could be like, a week in advance instead of a day in advance.

The sorting of the list seems to be messed up, in particular the NASL? I looks like it's supposed to be by start date, which makes sense, except for that.

anyway, thanks for the list!

Nice feature for TL!
It would also be cool to have a list like "wasn't BIG. but GREAT" for tournaments which just had a good amount of really great games in it.

I get the feeling that the amount of content gets out of hand and I can't keep up... GREAT :D

Yes, but imo its still a little bit hard for someone like me who doesnt really know much about the systems of big tourneys to understand the current standing. are there any links in the tourney links (^^) where I can see how the system of elimination works in the tourney and who already got eliminated by whom etc?

Have you tried the info button? It will lead to liquipedia which should explain briefly the format of the tournament (if available)

You guys need to update the event tracker to show what game the tourney is for (DotA2 or SC2). Sorry for bumping this if you're already working on it, didn't want to start a new thread for a minor suggestion.
