GRUBBY VS MOON EPIC FIRST DAY MATCH!!!
So many games. I think...I think I'm in love. (If the production quality is good).
damn that was quick! one closed thread -> full schedule. Sheth vs Artosis gonna be cool!
That's a lot of SC to watch... Idk how I'm going to watch all this AND play lmao.
Well I wasn't that interested in the NASL but Grubby vs Moon as the first match of the first day has my attention.
Artosis vs Sheth! Can't wait. Also the same day the new Whose Line is it Anyway comes out. Its gonna be an epic day.

I'm speechless at these matchups. I cannot summon up words to describe the awesomeness of this schedule. Koreans, fan favorites, WC3 heroes, BW pros, streaming heroes, they're all here, battling it out for supremacy.
Each matchup is going to be good. And there are SO MANY GAMES. If the production quality is up to the level of awesomeness as these matchups, then it's going to be an amazing period of games.
Why does Artosis have his [media] tag? Isn't he the captain of sixjax now?
Holy crap! HYPE HYPE HYPE!!! Awesome to see this!!!! :D Artosis playing on the first day! Can't wait!!!!!
It's about time they released these. Are they being broadcasted on nasl.tv?

grubby v moon is great way to start the tournament.
Oh so very exciting! Nice to have it all laid out to just think about upcoming matches!
Its... its... BEAUTIFUL. Holy SHIT so many EPIC matches in there. (Boxer - IdrA, Naniwa - Squirtle, Incontrol - july etc.) This is going to be AMAZING!

I'm sure MLG and the NASL anticipate some conflict and know that will have to be willing to be a little flexible and work out solutions.
Cool. Looking forward to it@!
Good to start off with Moon and Grubby's match.
simply amazing, i look forward to each and every single game listed here can not wait for this to get started!

Thats a friday, Play on friday starts at like 530? they can play the matches way beforehand ( noon EST or earlier) if players have conflicts.
They'll work it out so players can play their matches as well as be at mlg if they desire.
Maybe even have players with conflicts play the day before and just broadcast it on its scheduled day.
On April 05 2011 12:35 LuckyFool wrote: Games on 6/3 during MLG Columbus? O_o Well they are live cast from replays unloaded in VOD form right? So they will do thous games a few days before and just release / stream the vod that evening.
My Assumption anyway.
srsly ppl who said the player pool was bad are so wrong, if you look at those match almost all of them will be epic
awesome matchups, can't wait!
Thank God NASL has this many foreigners. This is going to be epic!! I can't waittt
This list of games also reiterates how stacked group 5 is. lol.
I counted 225 games. That is an insane amount of games...and that doesn't even factor in the playoffs! Say the playoffs are 25 games (probably more in reality), that's $25/250 games = 10 cents per game for a season pass. Definitely not a bad deal.
EDIT:

HNNNNNNNG So pumped for NASL! games look great, April 11th can't come soon enough.
OMG it's going to be so EPIC. Dare I say... better than GSL??
Good luck Incontrol! Can't wait to see you casting and pwning
So excited for artosis! Very interested in seeing how he looks!
Holy crap, games from next week until I graduate, I am so excited.
I will pay for NASL season passes just to see Artosis play.
That list hurts my brain. It's like "hey look at all these EPIX MATCHES that are coming nonstop for two months straight". It's a little overwhelming.
Edit: Seriously, this is ridiculous (in a good way). I finally notice on day 2 there is JULY v WHITERA PART DEUX.

Don't put the cart before the horse please. They haven't streamed a single match yet...
now that we got the QUANTITY, lets get some QUALITY games!!! Can't wait!!!
Wow O.O that's a LOT of games... Feels almost like TOO much hehe. I'm glad I already bough my season pass
I don't think there is a single game I'm not interested in seeing! This is going to be awesome =D
seeing the games lined up like this makes me EVEN MORE EXCITED
I cannot believe I'm saying this, but there are too many games. I will have to pick and choose what matches I will want to see. Also, I think you should shorten the season. 2-3 months for a season is extremely long. Most likely, people will just look at the results the next day and watch the live 16 person tournament at the end of the season. GSL season length is perfect. It takes about 3 weeks and there's always a break between seasons with the GSTL and world championship.
I think people will get NASL fatigue. You will have high viewers the first week or so and then the viewer count will slowly dwindle until it picks up again for the offline live final 16 tournament.
The fact that this tournament is going to give the community constant top end games to watch is the most amazing part. I really hope they release the replays after each round or something, that would be awesome! The only problem I could see with that is that they would get in the hands of their opponents. I don't really think that would be a problem considering that they are all streamed and recorded but I don't know, they may see it differently.
Anyways I am so excited for this to start, can't wait!!!
Those are some damn good matches. Grubby v Moon and Artosis v Sheth are some good first day highlights. HYPE.
wow this is cool to have the entire schedule. major props NASL.
ps. moon v grubby first day... clever girl.
are all these matches being played on the NA server?
This is honestly 100% worth the $25, Im fucking getting a credit card just for this shit.

Replays will not be released. They want people to pay the 25 dollars to access the VODs. If they replaced the replays tht would be one less incentive for people to pay the season pass.
Sad to see no Cruncher vs Idra rematch or MC vs any who's a contender for 1st place.
Hope they have the experience and the equipment to avoid a scenario like the hole that MLG dug for themselves.
Wait ! That's like 2 months of SC2 every day ?! Isn't that a bit TOO much ? Given that it's only like the 1st portion of it ?
Now this is a REAL league. Most other "leagues" are really just tournaments, whereas NASL is much more like a professional sport such as hockey or basketball with a playoff at the end. I love the NASL format.
omg im so looking forward to this!! <3

It's not really a big problem TBH. You're right, the first weeks will have a lot of viewer, and then it will slow down a bit, But it was kind of like that in BW too. Most people will chose and pick which match to watch depending on the match up, players, teams, etc. This is not really a bad thing, its just more variety.
I've got a gripe to pick with you NASL.
How the fuck am I suppose to get anything done in the evenings now? Seriously.
Omg...that is alot of games in such a span of time...[[geting pumped]]

games on the first day are amazing, im actually looking foward to seeing every single match. GL HF NASL!!!!!

Not that I don't like Incontrol, actually I kinda do but not enough to with him bad lol or anything. But I'm glad they didn't give him some easy players since he's helping run the tournament. White-Ra, July, Ensare to name a few.

having choices isn't necessarily a bad thing and with NASL's schedule, there is plenty to choose from

awesome first day games :D the return of artosis and the warcraft 3 showdown. looking down that list theres so many great games :D

Yeah, but you have to remember that there were only three must see leagues in broodwar OSL, MSL, and proleague. In starcraft 2, we have a plethora of tournaments that a viewer can watch. ESL, Dreamhack, GSL, ESP, GSTL, MLG, NASL, IPL, TSL etc. NASL won't be the only league/tournament in town.

This is an insane amount of games..... nice!!!!

grubby vs moon the inaugural match of the NASL, that is great.
Soooo many games. Great work NASL! Once all the technical kinks get out of the way this is going to be amazing! Definitely gonna have to buy my season pass now.
I never really realized how many games groups of ten players would produce... It's gonna be awsome
Damn. I think I'm going to pay up.
I'm in love with this format already. High number of games with high quality players. I don't even know who to root for.
Also, Grubby vs Moon on the first day. That in and of itself is incredible.
O wow, great league but I never knew it was going to be this long =[
from a guy whos stingy with his money id say this is realyl worth the moola! every day has a maquise match up worth of any semi finals match really.. and its starting with grubby moon? .. guess ill have too splurg on a new recliner i just soiled this one.. thanks!
Wow Amazing 1st day schedule, Cant wait... Much love best of luck!!!!
What time will these be live?
I'm kinda hoping they do some type of test run with their production again, maybe just cast a replay of anything and ask that everyone tune in to help stress test.
This whole event falls on the production, quality of stream
Did this schedule get posted somewhere official? Like the NASL website? or something? Where does it come from?
Seeing this schedule just blew my mind:D You go in knowing its gonna be a lot of games but wow. Looking down the list I just kept saying to myself, I have to buy the HQ pass

Ah, ok. I found their statement from the NASL Q&A thread.
Answer: Games will NOT be cast from replays. The games will be cast AS they are being played, they just won't be STREAMED live... after the cast, the videos will be sent to production, and after editing they will be broadcast in the evenings. http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=195486

So glad I shelled out the 20 bucks! EDIT: And to add, NASL+GSL=WTFAWESOME
Holy shit that's a lot of games, interesting first matchup... I suppose I have to pay the $20 now that I see the number of games on hand.

Why would it be weird anyways? TL is the focal point of the western sc community.
Awesome stuff! Some great games that are scheduled.
So many games. Jesus. There goes my career. My girlfriend is going to kill me.
Quick question, this is divisional play right? So is it just best of 1's (5 games a night) or best of 3's (holy shit)?
Boxer versus PainUser. That'll be interesting.
so is artosis officially P now?
Earlier in this thread someone mentioned games are on 8PM Est... So the games played 11/4 are broadcast 12/4 at 8pm.
But does anyone know what time the SECOND stream will be on? I recall them saying they would basically stream each set of games twice, once for US viewers and once more at a time more convenient for EU.
Also, group play - bo3 or 1-off?

It's not weird that everything is cross-posted here. It's weird that there isn't anything official anywhere else. Threads here get buried, and official things from the organizers don't look any different than anyone else's thread. Look at the confusion there's been about when it was starting or what the format is, etc. GSL, MLG, etc. all have their own websites. (Even BDL and many smaller tournaments...) It's just much more professional.
Obviously they're doing that. It's just that this seems really late for the "real" website to go up, and even a very simple temporary website could be updated with information as it came out...
Sounds great, even people who don't normally get a chance to watch any SC will be able to tune in once in a while now. Although we all know Artosis is going to take this anyways.
Asking this here because I couldn't find on the NASL site.
Does the pass work like the GSL, as in free stream, pay for vods, or what?
Mind blown.
It's almost too much. I only have time to watch a fraction of that.
Can you believe some people were complaining about the player list? Looking at these matches, this has the chance to be fucking unbelievable.

Yes, it is like the GSL. There's an HQ stream and a free LQ stream as well as VODs for people who purchase the pass. http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=207744

There's a free stream, pay is for HQ and for access to vods. Basically it's just like the GSL, just the games aren't broadcast live.
IdrA vs Tyler, match of the whole NASL. Poor ret though, ace then MC first 2 games
iNc has it pretty bad too

It's all the more understandable then why people who weren't included were so upset. This is a massive event, obviously the people who just missed the cut or didn't apply properly are going to be unhappy, and those people have fans who likewise will be displeased. Overall though I agree....the NASL is STACKED.
Sounds good. I'll probably choose this over GSL as far as buying a pass. Although I do love Tastosis...
All starcraft, all the time so pumped
This schedule is so ambitious. It really does feel like a real league, and not just some tournament that just happens on the weeks.

Well this isn't just a tournament, it's a LEAGUE, and like most sports, leagues are long and drawn out to make sure the best players truly advance.
It's like Football season is 4 months, hockey is like 4-5, etc. No one complains about the season lengths for them. (If they are fans anyway, my GF complains about football season...)

Why do we have to be on TL.net to find this instead of the NASL site?

Probably because they don't have a dedicated web designer yet.
Wow Moon vs Grubby, ex WC3 war!
I never thought I would say this but i think that i dont have enough time to watch all of these awesome matches :'(
god this is gonna be so awesome. where will these be streamed? anyone know?
All it took was a schedule and everyone got on board with the NASL. I love it.
Idra vs Boxer to close out. Fantastic.
I'll be watching almost entirely for Artosis/IdrA, although I'll check out any games with 99% recommend rates.

Holy wow, that's a metric ton of SC2 matches!!!!!

One quick question. I just got the ticket and was wondering about the VODS. Does that mean i can go back and watch any of the casted games at any time i want?

Why does Boxer vs. Idra have to be the last match ahhh i want to see it noooow

people read about it here and then got to the site if they want further info. its similar to TV News and Papers reporting on sport events and leagues for other sports. results, manager change, player team change, league politics, background story's.... you name it.

YUP
that's actually one of the reasons they pack that much awesome sauce in one day, if you are really into SC and have more than one player you favourite and are also interested in how certain players do, or want to see a certain player match-up [idra-boxer anyone?] you kinda have to get a ticket to be able to see everything you wanna see
Hyped. Already bought my pre-sale ticket!!
I cannot wait for this. Even though he plays protoss now i cant wait to see artosis playing again even though all the games will be awesome!

The tourney is a little large for an invitational in my opinion. Although I'm not complaining that much, Grubby vs. Moon? Shit just got real.
you bet im watching this shit on 4/20
I'm not so sure any of these games will hold any water with me. Both players are not in the same room playing on the same internet connection. Just my two cents.

I believe him I was just hoping that at this point, with the tournament supposed to have already started(they moved it back, rightfully, because of MLG) they'd at least have the start date up on the website :/ I'm gonna watch and I'm sure it'll be great I just don't get why I have to search Team Liquid to figure out what's going on.

From the previous experience ... normally korean players wont play well in the online tournament especially with open access replay tournament But NASL is so sick. Let's just see!

That is a lot of games to play/cast. That seems like a lot of work for the organizers to schedule the games.

Are the games Bo1 or Bo3? that is alot of games either way o.O
And I feel the NASL site lacks a lot of information. www.NASL.tv seems very plain with just a list of players, click here to buy your ticket and FAQ.
Hopefully they add more links for a better aesthetic, dunno if I'm alone in this thought but that's just how I perceive it. I.e, adding the schedule page, now that the schedule page has been released, a news page - since they delayed the start of it by a week to accomodate for MLG would be a good example of what can go there.
I dunno, maybe I'm just being nitpicky.
Haven't they their own support to inform their customers? Why did they post that on teamliquid? Does teamliquid is partner of this event? What about the presentation of players and groups?
O_o
So Hyped for this to start. Especially with the epic (previous 2v2 partners) wc3 gods Grubby and Moon battling it out on the first day. This should be so awesome and well worth the 25 bucks.

Im pretty sure your wrong. It was said that they'll be casted live then streamed later, not from casting replays.

This is the happiest day of my life. I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seriously these games are going to be SO epic. Always makes me happy to see players that you wouldn't usually see play each other. Nada vs dde? Squirtle vs Axslav?!!? Drewbie vs Boxer?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! And these are only in the first few days @_@
This is going to be amazing. I really hope the EU and KOR players have been practicing more on NA servers.
I hope the VODs are set up in a similar fashion to GSL. I worry about spoilers ya know... It takes the suspense away when you know how long a match lasts. GSL does it right as well as the VOD thread in the TL forum for TSL3.
I like that its a lot of games, and I can deal with not having to watch them all. It was so hard to latch onto a player in the GSL when they may be kicked out of a tournament after just 2 games. It will be nice to get to see 9 games without the stress of immediate elimination from players like qxc, and maybe even going through the drama of who makes the final 16 for the players on the bubble during the last week or two.
Actually I'm kind of excited to see who are the real scrubs in this group, since a 2-7 or worse record is much harder to explain for and much more public, then a quiet enter and exit in a tournament setting. Will people like artosis and incontrol make the bottom 16 or prove the haters wrong that they deserve to be there?

FOX_Moon vs Grubby, that's one heck of a kick-off match. I hope they have their stream capacity in order, because I predict 125+ countries tuning in.

Can't wait for season one to start and completely wreck all my fantasy team math!

How am I supposed to watch all of that :O gg life I mean Grubby v Moon on the FIRST day, plus the glorious return of Artosis....this is gonna be so sick!
I totally need this for liquidbet...
sick sick schedule
Awesome schedule, just hope the live stream is up to par! Also, have they announced who will be commentating?
Matches I'm definitely looking forward to.
MC vs Brat-OK. Heard SO much about how Brat-OK is a dominant dominant Terran and really looking forward to finally get to see him place against top players.
Gubby vs Moon just because of WC3
July vs White-Ra See who will win in a longer BO3 matchup!!
anything with Boxer because it's Boxer. I don't really expect him to win much since he's clearly past his prime and is now instead running an amazing team. But still cheering for Boxer.
Anything with Cruncher lol, because that way people will finally realize how overrated he is hahaha. Especially against July and White-Ra. If lag isn't an issue for those two, I'm looking forward to a good thorough smashing of the guy hahaha.
So how is this being played. Will the be games played on KR or EU server?

W ( O)_( O ) W ! Moon vs Grubby first match, this is way too epic for me to handle. What is the format of this thing though? Everyone against everyone? I am not too sure it sounds as competitive as I would like it to be, but nevertheless a 25$ season ticket sounds quite good actually and even if it's in a better time for us EU, I might drop the GSL. GL to NASL, I hope it will be a huge success!

I can't believe how many games there are and so frequent. It's going to be amazing and I can't wait for it too start. Good luck to all the players and the casters and everyone else involved with the NASL!

This is absolutely amazing..... I don't think I'll be doing much of anything else during the month of April. Hopefully the live stream will not clash with my work schedule though. It will still be awesome when they re-broadcast for EU in the morning (I'm guessing that will be evening in Europe) however it cannot compare to knowing that you are watching the matches unfold in real time. I don't care if I'm not going to sleep for a whole month just to watch this, there are still 8 months left afterward, I can catch up on rest then .

watching MKP vs MC games currently. Man, Bratok should work his ass off to make something against that guy >_< Also it's funny how teams for White-ra and Bratok are not listed in this schedule unlike any other player O_o

I hoped they would take Mondragon. He is still a huge name in the starcraft scene and showed what he is capable of in the TSL³ Ro32. |
That's sooo many games!
Can't wait to watch bunch of them (no way I'm watching all)
Artosis v. Sheth Grubby v. Moon IdrA v. Boxer (hi Grack)
And I only looked at a quarter of the list.... This is gonna be SICK.
God dammit. There goes my chance of keeping up a good GPA for the rest of this semester.
This is like the TSL every day!
I can't buy VODs for this. It would ruin what time I have left for study.
boah epic, simply epic, 20 dollar for all this games? sounds awesome tbh
aww I was hoping for Day9 to participate
artosis and ret!!!! WOOOT
hahahah you guys are making people pay to watch the first event.
Please, let their be liquibets
I need to buy a pass.....
sounds like an awesome tournament. On the other hand i wasn't really into the productionstyle and commentating of the clash of the titans showmatch (jinro vs idra)
Some really awesome lineups can't wait for this to start.
oh my god socke vs idra )))
WOW ... just frikkin WOW!
i thought this was going to get good when i saw the groups, but now that i see the actual matchups im just blown away.
CANT WAIT!!!!
Are these best of 1 or best of 3?
If Best of 3 then that's 10-15 games a day for 3 months. Wow.
no MKP?? Bahh, well atleast you have MC...

I completely agree. Damm you NASL for allowing me to do nothing but watch Glorious SC2 every day for the next 2 months. Hell, the NHL playoffs are about to start too. How can I actually find time to play Sc2, watch NASL, watch the red wings, AND work/school/unimportant stuff?!?!??!
Guess I'll have to cut out dinner.
Epic first game. What time these gonna be played? I might have to stay up for some of the more epic ones :D
Wow July vs White-Ra, definitely gonna watch that one >=D I wonder if White-Ra is out for revenge this time.

Actually this seems quite true. I hope there is some sort of Recommended system so you can only watch the highlights of the day or something, or I'll die of too much SC2 xD
lol Grubby vs Moon, where have i heard that before?
these matches are all Bo3 right?
this is awesome... two months of pure starcraft II, i love you guys at nasl <3
Great to see so many matches, this NASL will really be insightful to see where balance of the game and the korean vs non-korean balance is at. Grubby vs Moon is a great way to start off as well, let them play a game of wc3 first to decide what map to start on. I don't think im gonna be watching much of this though, lots of mediocre players so simply not that interested compared to GSL.
hahaha of course Grubby vs Moon first match... going to be so awesome!!!
Why not make groups according to server?
damn i REALLY want to buy a ticket but i cant because in germany nearly no one have a credit card cause its mainly useless here ... so i cant buy a ticket no chance to pay it other way ?
I love the schedule! Only question is: At what time will the games be played?
I have to say, I'm really excited to see Artosis play!
Gotta love how the hate flows until the four page long rooster of proplayer games are revealed.
Who could hate that? This'll be great! Although I still don't enjoy it being replays... blah.
Wow... all I have to say is thank God it's summer.
Intresting matches from day 1 to the last day. Especially IdrA vs BoxeR on the last day and Artosis vs. Sheth on the first
Are Koreans gonna play from Korea?
I can't wait to see how Grubby and Artosis will play... hype!
Wow I was going to say that day 1 was super stacked and then I looked at the rest of the games. x_x HYPE!

Stand-out games of each date (week 1 anyway) imo:
4/11- morrow v rainbow 4/12- july v whitera 4/13- naniwa v strelok 4/14- lots, this day rocks ^^ 4/15- lots, this day rocks ^^

Haha moon vs grubby. That can't be a coincidence.
Do we know anything about what time of the day this is happening?

Awesomesauce! Looks excellent! I also can't wait to see Artosis V. Sheth on the first day, as I love those guys.

games everyday awesome , never too much sc2

Just at frist sight, checking the first and the last matches well played gentlemen

Grubby vs Moon the first match :O this gonna be interesting. I don't know if it's gonna be good but interesting at least
Will there be a preview option for those of us who are still on the fence about purchasing?
BoxeR vs IdrA for a closing match for the season will be awesome!
There is not enough time to actually play the game between all the fantastic tournaments that are kicking off.
And this one is looking like a beauty! WOW

Nice, thanks for the answer!

I never realized that we have so many games. But with groups of 10 players .. it seems logical.
I can't understand those who say that there are too many games (or too many tournaments). E-Sports will grow further, like in other sports, you have to deal with that you can't watch all games.
Grubby vs. Moon first game. I was gonna wait to see if this flops, but I don't know if I can live with myself missing the warcraft gods duke it out on starcraft ^_^
NASL has earned my respect for knowing how to market if nothing else.

It worked for me with a UK debit card. Do they not use debit cards on the continent either? or am I mistaken and it's going to charge me like a credit card?

This is great, I'll have amazing matches to watch everyday and it won't be two great players who are tired as hell after slugging it 6 hrs through an open bracket, dealing with admins etc. etc.
Personally I would have liked to see LzGamer included in NASL...oh well

Does anyone know what time the games will be broadcasted?

Well, you could still potentially watch it for free live and then decide if you want to pay or not. Thats what I plan on doing, watching the first day live and then most likely paying after.

45 days, with at least 3 hours of games a day. Plus the open and championship tournament.
Guys, that's insane. There's a lot of tournaments out there right now, but I can see why $25 is reasonable.

So many games! If the production values and the stream quality is good and stable (looking at you MLG -.-) I will definetly buy a season ticket.

OMG, This is gonna be sooooo amazing!
Gonna watch EVERY GAME!

I'm probably asking an overrepeated question but, at what time does it start?
anyone know the times of when this happens? in Pacific Time?

Thanks for the information, a lot of matches there. Hopefully the VODs will be uploaded quickly.
Also we need more information about the casters.I don't mind Incontrol and Gretorp but unfortunately some people do not agree with this.

soooooo worth the 25$ Buy it everyone n support Also stop complaining about the ads. The ad space is bought by companies who are supporting esports. If no one buys adspace, then it shows that esports doesnt appeal to the masses

Bought a ticket, excited! Dunno how i'm gonna find the time to watch this along with TSL, MLG's, GSL, Dreamhack and IEM!
Lets go team EG!! America represent!! woooooo
Also I hope Sen does well. Taiwanese fighting!!!!
as a former wc3 player I laughed so hard that its going to start with Moon vs Grubby. That's so sweet.

Does anyone knows who is going to be commentating on these games?

Perfect time for my tax returns to come in. After seeing this lineup, there was no way I couldn't pay for the season pass. First match and the very last match...couldn't think of better players to have in those slots.
Can't wait for the games!

Wow these are some awesome crazy match-ups. This is gonna be so good.

artosis playing protoss i know he was dabbling but i really wish he was still zerg

5/27.. IdrA v. Tyler.. awwwww yeah
That is so amazing but is there going to be huge lag? Im still in!
Talk about a stacked tournament with no bad players. This is gonna blow the GSL outta the water in terms of awesome games.
Too bad NASL is missing Dimaga, Jinro, Huk, or Kas, but this tourney is looking to be very exciting. So many games to watch!

I'm gonna wait till the first day or two to buy the season pass but assuming it isn't MLG level I'll definitely be getting one. Can't wait to see these games get started and Grubby v Moon while not the best players is definitely a good way to kick things off, might go back and watch some of their old wc3 games now that the nostalgia is getting going.

I wonder how they'll present the VODs/if they'll be easily downloadable. Downloading the VODS for GSL is a pain since they only use the Flash player... have to download and convert them so that I can watch on my TV.

It's not really "set up" since they have to play everyone in their group at some point. No harm in the organizers choosing exciting match-ups first.
Also, are these all BO3 or BO1?

And a quick question: How it is going to be played? Are all the players (including Koreans) in the US? Are they in the same city/place? I don't wanna hear another qq about lag cause of playin on US servers from Koreans....

This is not WC3... why would someone organize the bracket to have M v G in the very first day..? No one wants to see them advancing and meet in later rounds? Jeeze..

There used to be an unspoken rule among NHL players, towards the later stages of Wayne Gretzky's career, that you don't check Gretzky as hard as other players.
Players still checked him -- they played to win -- but they wouldn't try to smash his head into the boards, for instance. Primarily because Gretzky was such a mannered guy, but also because he was Wayne fucking Gretzky.
I'm assuming even IdrA would be mannered towards Boxer, even if he got bunker rushed two times in a row. Dude's a legend, and probably the most polite guy on earth.

If I understand the question correctly, you are asking why they would put this match first when they are going to get eliminated? This is not a single elimination tournament. It is possible that both players will make it out of their divisions. Every player plays every other player in each division and the 2 players with best scores in each division make it out. Admittedly, putting Grubby and Moon in the same division lowers the chances that both will make it out, but it is not impossible.

so many epic games... White Ra v JULY... Boxer v TYLER and IDRA... Hope boxer BM's Idra:
boxer: "this many battlecruisers, yes?" Idra: ....
I will laugh an entire week if boxer says "hi, grack" again
Wow, I'm impressed by the amount of games!
On the other hand I'm worried a bit if NASL will be able to keep with high production standard for all those matches.
See you on 4/11 and good luck!

GRUBBY VS MOON ZOMG! this is every warcraft 3 fans' wet dream!!
MooN-Grubby opens! yo it's awesome!
Artosis vs Sheth day1 my body is sooooooo ready
I can't lie, day 1 looks aweome. Grubby - Moon, artosis - sheth, morrow - rainbow and TLO!
Finally! NASL is going to be sick. Western E-SPORTS scene getting better and better.
I love those opening matches! Go Artosis and Grubby! I can't wait for pretty much all of these matches! This, the TSL, and the new IPL are going to keep me full on Starcraft 2 for quite a while!
Omg I just saw 5/10 qxc Vs july zerg that will be awesome to see Julyzergs style against qxc multi drop attacks. So many great matches I can't wait!
This is very awesome...
So how do we watch these games? Are they casted live? I assume Grubby vs Moon is not going to be a live game casted from a Studio in LA right?
I'm just confused right now as to how we (the viewers) actually watch these games.
Surprised by the amount of WC3 fans on here. The excitement for Grubby vs Moon seems to overshadow most of the other (excellent) games right now.
Looks like NASL made the right call inviting those two!

I'm just confused right now as to how we (the viewers) actually watch these games. The league play is online. Casted live, broadcasted with a delay. The 16 man finals is a LAN event in LA.
Regarding the stream URL, it's probably best to keep an eye on the NASL.tv site as they haven't announced details in that regard (that I'm aware of).
please tell me they're casting these games live
On April 06 2011 08:34 creamer wrote:please tell me they're casting these games live
They will be casting the games live... but they will be broadcasting the games later on.

I didn't realize there were to many people that followed professional WC3 on TL. Soo many people are jizzing their pants over Moon vs Grubby, and to me (as someone who didn't care about WC3) it's just a mediocre zerg facing a mediocre protoss. I probably should have followed WC3, lol =/
I think this is the first "League" that is actually a league. Now if they can step up their broadcast to the level of GSL/MLG (without the stream issues), this will be big. The showmatch quality was terrible. If they get a good overlay going.... I will buy just to support them.
BoxeR vs IdrA epic rematch. Maybe we'll get another Hi Grack???

Honestly, after the MLG debacle, I think the end product will be way more consistent and smoother with pre-recorded, edited broadcasts.

After MLG I think far more people have warmed to the idea of prerecorded live casting so that we don't waste time watching stupid commercials, or worse yet, get banned for making awesome pictures or referencing the sweet eagle stream lol
However, the production quality and casting are the most important. Day [9] and djwheat (and jp) made that awful train wreck of an event entertaining when it was actually going on

Artosis is going to win the whole thing.

Awesome, but I wonder how Day9's going to adapt to having his daily just an hour after the NASL starts each night O.O
Why is this stuff not posted on the NASL website? Just playing devil's advocate but if we want eSports to grow, we need to attract new people, not just the same TL and reddit fans. I really don't get their marketing scheme. Anyways, cheers to NASL.
I didn't realize it was two months worth of non-stop matches. This is excellent. I was really hoping NrG.dde would show that he is one of the top foreign Terrans but he got paired with Nada for his first match. I'm not sure how the format of the NASL works but that can't be good for him.

Map pool was announced! Yay they are using backwater gulch. It'll be interesting to see how a map untested in major tournaments that everybody has complained about does.
Also yay for using the outdated Terminus RE instead of SE. Good to use the outdated version for another 2 months I'm sure those rocks were a mistake. Gotta have that safe third base.
Unfortunately I guess testbug was a big failure at MLG or NASL would have used it also.

If I have used the date tag correctly, the following should be the times in your local timezone:
Wednesday, Apr 13 12:30am GMT (GMT+00:00) Pre show Wednesday, Apr 13 1:00am GMT (GMT+00:00) 1st Match
Rebroadcast:
Wednesday, Apr 13 4:30pm GMT (GMT+00:00) Pre-show Wednesday, Apr 13 5:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00) 1st Match

I believe EST is GMT -5. Chile would fall into either the Central or Pacific timezone, I'm not sure which.
CST is GMT -6 and PST is GMT -8

Same with everyone who didn't wake up at an early hour to watch GSL. Stay away from forums if there is a match you don't want spoiled before you watch it, and simply watch it already knowing the results if you don't care.
And the guy above me: your sentence was completely incoherent, but it is reminiscent of flame-bait, so gfto.

You can watch it on either of the streams at any time you want to. There are only VODs for the premium ticket, but it's unfair for the Europeans to have to go by American times and miss out on the product. Hence, there will be a restream of the matches for European times, and it's just gonna be put on the stream. No IP checkers, just basically for ANYBODY that prefers a different time.
Wow this is so freakin exciting!!! I just can't wait for this tournament to begin!!! I finally gave in and decided to purchase the $20 ticket after seeing all these awesome names!

So do they play that day and then we get the replay. Or do they play a day or two earlier then we get the replay?

everything about nasl looks pretty cool, but i really was a bit sad about the mappool. So many Blizzard maps we all know since almost a year now (and backwater gulch..) and no iccup maps? I was hoping iccup could make a deal with the nasl, too bad..

Well they stream it on Justin.tv and there's a Justin.tv app. So it should be possible to just watch it during the commute. Or at least listen to it.

If those times are GMT (and I think they are because it shows CET as +1hr), then the UK is on BST and thus the show will start at 7pm for us, not 6.
Also if you care that much and have a paying job then the $20 = £12 should not be much.

Hm...well whatever time they schedule it, it's going to be tough on some people. There's no chance I'm going to be able to watch it every day, maybe 2 out of the 5 days a week it shows. And I'm kind of OK with that. I like the set up of this league, a lot of matches spread over a long time, and missing a day isn't quite as significant as missing, say, the Ro16 GSL matches.
That said, I wonder if they actually did any research into what times would be best for most people.
EDIT: Forgot to mention that the fact that we get a rebroadcast is fucking cool anyway.
Perfect broadcast times imo, I love it.
This will make me pay the 20 $.

5 bo3s per night! Even at a conservative 15 minute matches, that's a minimum of 2.5 hours of SC2 /per night/.

Do we have exact details on the maps? Will you be using MLG/TSL versions of these maps where ramps don't allow for the double-bunker block? Will the newer Blizzard maps you're using also have the double-bunker block? Tal'Darim Altar or Tal'Darim Altar LE? Are there any other alterations that are going to be made?

I'm sure the stream will be embedded in at least a couple places: nasl.tv and wellplayed.org to mention a couple.
Coverage starts at 9pm every night for people in the US east coast.. with 5 bo3 matches a night, I anticipate many, many late nights. I mean, I assume there's going to be some amount of between game commentary/analysis even if it's just a couple minutes between matches. If an average match length is 10-15 minutes (some going as long as 20-25 minutes), some nights could possibly go until 2am! D:

No rebroadcast for Oceania/Korea ?

NASL just showed up in liquidbet, and I wet my pants a little looking at the day1 matches.
I am a casual observer, but I just wondered how regularly they matched up the maps. I dont think its a huge problem but every player will start with a new map the next week, and then the first two maps from previous week. That comes from the rotational symmetry of both the maps in the mapgroups A, ..., I; and the the mapgroups for the weeks. I guess the reason behind this is to make it "fair" for everyone, but that could be achieved by other means: - use the order: A, E, I, D, H, C, G, B, F, (A) this way always three different maps are played in consecutive weeks. - use different map groups to avoid having an intersection of 2. This can be achieved not using consecutive map rotation, like: (1,2,4), (2,3, 5), (3, 4, 6), ..., (8, 9, 2), (9, 1, 3). Finally you could try to make the maps even for each week. So far Xel naga caverns and Shattered temple are not played at all on the first week. Typhon peaks is only played as a third map, and Crevasse as second and third map. Blackwater , metalopolis and Taldarim are played first second and third, Crossfire as first and second and terminus as first only. I know that this cannot be balanced completely, but there are 15 position for 9 maps, so it is possible to avoid having one map 3 times.
When I watched SotG this week, and they talked about the massive amount of games that will be played, and the inability to watch all of them, I was thinking about the following: At some point you need to cut down the time of the games (not only the downtime between games) and make a summary of all the games played on one day (highlights). I really liked what they had as intro in the sc Reddit invitational.
Looking forward to Grubby's matches.

Only concern with the NASL is that it'll turn out much like Major League Baseball in America. Baseball floods the market with their games which makes every game less important. Not only that but every weekday, just like the MLB, makes it difficult for individuals to watch the games with work, school, and life. With five matches a day, upwards of five hours a day or more, that might be a little too much. Going to love the fact that I can watch games almost whenever I want, but going to be lost when it gets near the end and the commentators start talking about certain story lines that I missed because I couldn't watch every game. Anyway, can never complain again about not having enough starcraft to watch anymore.

I'm just going to go ahead and say what everyone else was thinking: Artosis v Sheth on Day1 gives me wood. There, deal with it.
Is anybody else more hyped to see Artosis performing then anyone else? I sure know I am. If he beasts on Sheth I am going to mark out so bad that I'll probably put my fist fully through my computer monitor, break through my desk and put a hole directly into my parents room and they will ask "hey whats the ruckus?" and I will punch them in the face and say "ARTOSIS JUST WON" and start humping my monitor ala pure pwnage style.
I didn't saw this in the Q&A thread: if two players from Korea play against each other, the match is played on Korean server or NA server? I'm mostly looking forward to Rainbow - MorroW in the first round. I'll be rooting for Grubby/Artosis too, but I don't see them winning ^^

I wont break through my monitor but the rest sounds somewhere close to what I will do. I don't know why I love him, but I do. Been watching SCII for 6 months now and my favorite player is Artosis, and I never saw him play. It is a Mystery.

Hm, just realised it starts at 1AM in England Time every day. Not sure if I'll be able to watch too much of it. Might have to get a pass.
I'll catch the rebroadcasts for europe, since it's quite late for me on US time.
Anyone have any info on map pool? I saw that the first group is Terminus -> Crossfire -> Backwater Gulch, but what is the full map pool?

I don't have many monitors to break but that sounds about right.

Oh sweet! Thanks for pointing that out, I didn't really check the first post fully and sort of skimmed through it and missed the image. Awesome that they're broadcasting again at a good time for Europe. ^^

I'm also pretty stoked to see Artosis actually play in a tournament. There are soooo many games, haha. Really hope the production quality is going to be better that what they've been showing so far (ie. show match and teaser trailer), but regardless the games produced should still be awesome (which is what really counts).

Quick question.
Will it be possible for the EU fans to catch the live stream?

the said they are doing extra rebroadcasts for the EU Audiance.

I'm excited about Artosis too, but he is facing Sheth...Sheth is a pretty beastly Zerg, one of my favorites. And Artosis switched from Zerg to Toss..So I am skeptical to see how he does, until I see how he progressed since the switch. I'm also really looking forward to it! :D
P.S. I hope Grubby smashes Moon

damn, this is huge. go haypro!

Artosis fighting haha! is he even good :O?

He's decent. I remember watching some of his old zerg SC2 VODS back when he was a player and not a commentator, and he was so-so.

They restream the following day at 6pm UK time, or there's VODs. Both good <3
To the guys mentioning Artosis, there's some footage of him SOMEWHERE on VT's site trying to qualify for Code A as Protoss when he'd barely started the race. He got really really close. On one map he had something like 6 bases to Terran's 3, two trillion gateways, and lost to a bizzarre mass Thor all in. But he is good, I don't think he'll disappoint.

Ya I agree with this... Sheth is amazing at ZvP, and he's been practicing more than Artosis so... :-/
Fortunately I also like Sheth, but I would like to see Artosis do at least decently this season.
Edit: Ouch... Artosis has Kiwikaki the week after, and then Moon the week after that...

Anyone else having problems buying a HD pass? When I try to buy one using my CC it says: " The transaction was declined. Please use a different card or contact your bank.". CC is valid everywhere else, tested it twice. I'm from Europe so it might have something to do with that?
Are players going to play in a studio (in a booth) or is it going to be played through battle.net?
But I love my K-Pop O well should be pretty amazing still.
It'll be interesting to see what this LagTV has in store for us. I haven't really heard of them before but anything that isn't K-Pop definitely gets my vote.

Starts at 8AM in Australia Will the entire streams be uploaded to like blip.tv or something? Or replay packs will be good too I guess.

So much hype!!!! Moon vs Grubby!! Please be as epic as i want you to be!!
Hey motbob - will this serve as a R&S thread for NASL? If so, i commend your commitment - SO MANY GAMES!
Oh i hope i'm not going to spoil myself and checking the results before watching the vods on wensday x_X
the EU restream of the matches is basically the day after the match is it? couldn't find anything about it besides the banner in the OP :o

You can check the europe rebroadcast or buy the ticket to have access for the VODs.
I don't understand the times...why is there different times for different regions?
If I buy a season can I rewatch the matches anytime? But with no ticket you have to be around to watch it and that's it ala GOM.TV GSL?
presalenasl doesn't work anymore?
Different times for different regions so everyone has a chance to watch. If they broadcasted while everyone was at work or at school it wouldnt really work out to well.
While on the topic of time/regions am i correct in saying that manitoba is 2 hours ahead and so the preshow starts at 730? I think so... so many time zones, i assume they are using PDT?
Still no Paypal? Guess i wont buy a ticket then

I am really looking forward to TLO vs Vibe for day 1
OMG so excitied even though I couldnt buy a Season pass cause Paypal still isnt a Option. I will be watching the Freestream though .Big Problem though and I hope someone can help me out I am not sure I can always watch the US Stream Live so I am thankful for the Rebroadcast BUT why are the Rebroadcast times neither featured on TL in the Calendar nor whats even worse on the officiel NASL Site in the Schedule that makes it a lot more complicated than need be.

Question:
Are there any other Europeans trying to watch the first broadcast?
The stream isn't working for me, and I wonder if they've actually blocked the US time stream for Europeans or if it's just my internet.
i cant even create an account on that website ...
I bought the ticket. NASL seasons are suppose to be longer than GSL right? For $25 I hope so! Also, how can I access VODs for games that I've missed?

Chat should really just be disabled or moderated better, the spoiler spams is quite ridicolous. Especially the spoilers before the stream even started which somehow leaked.

Lagging as hell today. Dreamhack yesterday on justin.tv was perfect for me. Also LOL at false starting times.

There's really no stream chat you would ever want to be a part of. Do yourself a favor and watch it through TL live (I realize you're in Europe) or disable the chat otherwise. Not sure how these people get results beforehand (although I'm sure most of them make it up) but there's really nothing to be done about it except close the cesspool that is the chat.

why does that EU Rebroadcast lag as hell US was fine yesterday from what i watched.
JTV fault?
Another day of top notch players, so excited for the July v White-Ra match. Also iNcontroL, can't wait for this to begin!
Is the EU rebroadcast still running? It started at 6pm GMT today right? I don't see the stream status on the NASL site.

Also, had a hard time finding times for the rebroadcast on the official site, or information about the rebroadcast at all on the official site. The schedule tab only lists the times for the first broadcast.
Apart from that, and the horrible lag, it was a great production to be sure! Especially liked the casters - they're a great team!

Apparently pre-show started at 3.30pm GMT with first game starting at 4pm GMT

Ah OK, thanks. That's weird, the 1st page says it should start at 6pm GMT, so 7PM BST. The only people home at 4:30pm are kids and benefits wasters.

If it's a rebroadcast and the necessary work is almost entirely automated it should be no problem for them to air it at 19:30.
After all the hype i feel rather disappointed. Especially since i bought the ticket and i seldom can watch the games live and the VOD section on the NASL page is just painful to navigate. I also find it unreasonable that i have to register on some site i don't visit and don't like (wp.org) just to access the "official forums". Pretty cheap trick.

So according to this schedule today there is a game at 7 P.M. CET? Can anyone confirm this?
There is no game tonight. The schedule has been put back one day.
Apologies for what may be an inappropriate bump to the thread, but could someone correct the dates in this post to reflect the recent scheduling changes? Last I heard, they've bumped everything back a day as of last week to make casts run from Wednesday to Sunday to allow for more flexible scheduling for the players as well as for more editing time of the casts themselves.
Thanks!
