So it isn't a joke.
I'm guessing he decided to leave since EG has no plans for Korea with the NASL starting up, and with no EG players left in Korea or planning to go there he probably didn't have many responsibilities or any at all.
Hopefully he joins Artosis and Sku in Media in some capacity. Would be cool to see the revival of Media. Either way I'm sure this is the right choice for them and hopefully the split was amiable.
GL to Tasteless in his next non-Gom endeavor!

I wouldn't mind seeing tasteless and artosis joining Team Liquid. I know that Nazgul said that it's really time consuming managing the team, so having 1 or 2 of the archons to help would be pretty awesome. Also, I know that they still have aspirations to continue their programing careers.

I don't know why they would joke about something like this. It's almost expected, given there's nobody left to manage in EG in Korea. People who believe it (like myself) are not surprised, outraged, etc. - an April Fool's joke is supposed to evoke some reaction.

I guess this just means EG doesn't have many plans for Korea in the near future. Which is not that surprising considering how they've seemed to move away from the team house idea ever sense NASL. I doubt it's a joke; as it's not funny and he has a decent sense of humor.

Wouldn't it have to be, you know, shocking to work as an April's Fools thing (or just really dumb, like most of those are)? As the OP stated, this kind of makes sense.
As for it not showing on teh Twitters for everyone, I don't know what's up with it atm but it seems to selectively lag tweets for me for the last few weeks as well, probably mucking about with their infrastructure.

Back when EG was planning on cycling members through Korea, Tasteless was going to be handling things on the Korean end, now that this is not happen, I think it's entirely possible for this to be real. Although I thought Tasteless would provide a longer explanation then "I decided to quit EG"

But apparently Tasteless was no longer on a contract with EG since they dropped their plans to get a progaming house in Korea. So what I guess happened was that they kinda dropped Tasteless off his contract and then when he realized what was happening he rushed to twitter to be the first one to go public with it. Since most people who stop working together would probably be more emotional like "it's been fun times but we must part our ways now" I guess that this very short straight to the point message was rushed and to me it appears that EG and Tasteless are probably not on the friendliest terms right now.

If I was in tasteless shoes I would be pissed at EG, too. He joined their team to become the regional manager in Korea. EG basically broke their promise and turned their backs on Korea and tasteless. I'm not surprised that tasteless quit EG.

Adding on to this, nothing in kennigit's post even implies that the two parties ended their relationship on bad terms.

Will Artosis be going to NA to practice? Even if he won't, he probably won't spend so much time with GOM since he has to practice. And now that Tasteless might be leaving EG, if he wants to support Artosis, he probably will have to spend some time on that too, which means he might have less time for GOM?

Wait, what? I thought he could just play in the NASL online as it's.. going to be online for everything but the last rounds. He's not casting Code A so he has time to practice now, which he said in his application video.
And why on Earth would Tasteless quit casting to help Artosis train? Sure, he might very well want to train with him but do you honestly believe he'll just quit Gom for that?

People overthink things too much, sometimes when someone announces he's quitting EG and that it's not a joke ... he's just quitting EG and not joking. Whether there's been an internal conflict regarding Korea or Nick just being straightworward in his tweeting style is all speculation until someone spills the beans.

This is what the concept of April Fool's Day (regardless of whether or not this whole thing is true) does to people who love drama and news. It makes them go temporarily psycho. Multiple of people are confirming that it's not a joke...How many times do people have to confirm until you believe that tasteless is quitting EG?
What? I'm one of the original people who recognized it as being serious.

I knew Tasteless was in Media during the BW days but I didn't know he had anything to do with EG. Don't see why it matters much to the community in any case.

With Artosis and Sku bringing the team back for NASL, I bet Tasteless will be involved in some respect. Him and Artosis have been talking a lot about the Media days, and maybe they are planning something big.
Tasteless doesn't strike me as the type to be a dick when breaking with an organization, and I doubt he would do it without good reason. Rumors are just that, the lies of little kids who want things to be more than they are.

Tasteless had a contract with EG. The contract mostly pertained to EG's Korean presence, which has obviously shifted focus over the course of the past few months.
This contract was over in December of 2010.
As far as I know EG was still in discussion with Nick to see if the contract would be re-signed. But as mentioned above, because of EG's shift in focus (this is MY opinion) I'm guessing was likely not going to be renewed.
So Tasteless basically quit a job that he hasn't had since December of 2010. I guess his tweet was confirmation that either A. a new contract wasn't signed, or B. Tasteless has something else on his plate.
In looking out for the best interest of both Tasteless and EG, I don't think either party is at fault. An official announcement would have been nice (maybe it would have curbed some of this "drama), but as far as I know both parties have no ill will towards the other. I think it's appropriate to respect both Nick and EG in this matter and not try to create drama that isn't there.
Don't forget kids, eSports and many of the relationships/partnerships are business. And sometimes business decisions are made that we (the public) don't agree with or understand... but at the end of the day... it's business.
I really don't think there's much more to say about this.

Okay, thanks for clearing that up.
On topic: I don't think it's really that big of a deal to be honest. EG shifted their attention from Korea back to NA, now that SC2 is getting big pretty much everywhere and you can't really blame them for that. As for Tasteless, he did just fine before EG picked him up and I very much doubt this will be the end of all for him, as some people seem to expect.
