When people say Koreans are better than foreigners they do not mean that foreign pros and Korean pros are on totally different skill levels. They are actually quite close. When people say Koreans are better what they mean is that the overall level of skill, game knowledge, and quality of play on the Korean server - as a whole - is the best in the world. This is an indisputable fact as an average player in Korea who doesn't even play in tournaments could be on par with a small tournament foreign player. But remember - this does NOT mean that Korean pros and foreign pros are far from each other in skill, only that if you want to face - consistently the best ladder competition, you will go to Korea and play on their server.

Thanks for the translation! JulyZerg is so manner. I really like the older progamers. They are quite articulate (although it is a translation so I have to take it with a grain of salt).

Like July, I also hope that there will be more of these types of events.
Even during difficult times, when I sat down to play the game, there were times where it felt like god has descended down and played [for me].

TT1 and dimaga were definitely surprising, i thought they were the 2 weakest players on the World Team before the WC, and they impressed july the most

I love the fact that he gives foreigners full credit, in terms of their styles and underlying talent (that he says was not fully realized). I also think it's true that the Koreans didn't go all out, but I think the skill ceiling for foreigners is just as high as theirs.

About July not losing to foreigners in BW:

July actually lost 0:2 to Lx in the Loser's brackets of STX masters in China. But I think Koreans don't count Chinese as foreigners just like foreigners themselves do. Not to mention LX was trained in SKT1.

White-Ra has done a lot for his team by taking out MC. But the way he lost to July deserves some spanking by Artosis since White-RA counter all-in'ed instead of playing safe after fending off July's baneling bust.

Hey, my home boy julyzerg tried!

lol, GSL WC produced entertaining games, and really is a wake-up call to the Koreans to be less self-centered in comparing skill level of players.

And to above post, Koreans hardly consider Chinese foreigners. But it should be duly noted that Chinese are technically foreigners to Korean scene.

Yeah, the Chinese aren't counted as Foreigners, but as a different group altogether. Good research though.

Good interview by July. He really has a lot of pride and confidence, but respect as well. And it's cool that he doesn't want a gap to happen just like Brood War.

You'll always be a hero for the swarm mr. July.

no no, it was the 16 second delay because the internet on the Korean side of the building is rerouted through Kenia.

All kidding aside, I really enjoyed these games. It was really fun to watch my foreigner hero's being boss against the Koreans. But of course July is the biggest boss of them all :D
One regret remains, which is that I'll never know the outcome of the first Dimaga-MVP match (thanks Bnet) which had the potential to show how strong Zerg tech switches can be. Does Blizzard provide GSL with some specially modified clients? The UI dissappeared a few times when big battles came up, which I have never seen before.

Zerg tech switches work fine, just not against a ton of 3/3 racks and a few k worth of resources banked, and fully teched terran that is denying his half of the map entirely :D .

Thanks for the translation it's cool to see July is excited to play in foreign countries and that foreigners are doing much better in SC2 than in BW.

Watching July win made me very ambivalent.

"Wow July, I am a huge fan of yours! Wait, what are you... ow! Oh the repeated kicks to the groin! Why July why!?"
"Sorry foreigner, nothing personal."
Bow before the Dongjwa.
