I've always been a gamer.

I'm 28 yo now, same generation as nick and artosis, and I am competitive in nature at pretty much everything I do, and like day9, I believe the best adversary is myself.

The closest I got from "GOING PRO" was on local tournaments or bets with friends, mainly on football games on playstation (fifa 98, best game ever) and on arcades (king of fighters 97, 98, 99).

Even when I got the taste for SC:BW in 1999 I was pretty good, used to beat all my friends and won a couple of tournaments in my school at that time (it's a federal institution with around 5k students ranging from high school to masters degrees on physics -- meaning lots of nerds).

But I gotta say, I've never had 1% of the PASSION those 3 have for it. I think that's what make them so fucking awesome. You see, I was never sad or bummed for losing a game, I took it pretty easy on that aspect. Even when I won, I'd only have a "mission accomplished" kinda feeling, and ofc, easy money is always welcome so I could spend it on beer and whores.

But after seeing the feelings and expressions shown by those guys... I"m happy to see what they're getting today. They deserve to be in the lead of SC community.

Like many people, I regret not playing BW during this era. I played from '98-'01ish when i was a little nerd but eventually went on to other games like Diablo2 T_T. I still vividly remember when I heard of clan x17 from a friend and I would join and marvel at the names in the channel like froz etc etc

Wow so cool. This is actually the event that day9 was talking about in the 100th episode.

Tasteless voice seems so different, maybe he just makes sure to project more when hes casting.

Speaking of casting according to day9, this was the event that tasteless really started be recognized as a caster.

Wow this was amazing, especially after watching Day9's 100th daily. This is the best story I have come across in Esports, and getting a glimpse of it was amazing.

I'm glad whoever was filming also caught a glimpse of Tasteless casting, and all the support they had for each other. It was really cool seeing Artosis' attitude during the tournament, and I respect him even more now. Those 3 guys really deserve to be the big figures of SC2.

I remember this event pretty well. I was one of the WarCraft 3 competitors that year and spent a bit of time with the StarCraft group as well, and witnessed a lot of the events that happened in this video with my own eyes (I'm actually in the video at a couple of parts, kudos to those of you who can recognize me). It was really a pretty fun event, and from what I remember everyone got along pretty well, especially the StarCraft group. It's kind of cool having been able to experience a lot of that firsthand and seeing where a lot of those guys ended up today. Back then, no one really had any clue how things would turn out, and for the most part everyone was just enjoying how fun things were. WCG USA also took pretty good care of us that year and the years after, big change from 2004, and it was a lot of fun outside of the actual tournament too.

As for Artosis, I have to give him a special thanks because I still owe him a big one. On the morning that everyone was leaving, I had overslept a bit and hadn't arranged a taxi to take me to the airport yet. On the way down the elevator in the hotel, I ran into Artosis and Cocoa, and when I mentioned my problem to them Artosis mentioned that he was already going to drive Cocoa to the airport, and that I could tag along if I wanted. Even though I didn't know him well at all (we had only talked a little bit at the event), he still made the offer without any reservations. Without him, I would have been pretty much screwed, and getting home would not have been a fun ordeal. So for that, I owe him a lot of thanks, and since then, I've always been a big supporter of him. It's really great to see that all of his hard work and kindness has paid off, in one way or another.

This was like, the epic climax point of day9 daily 100! awesome! I imagine if I watched this video without knowing the backstory I wouldn't understand why Tasteless and Day9 were so emotional at that event. Nor would I get the significance of that moment where Tasteless was up on stage commentating.

What a cool video, thanks so much for putting this out!

Watching the Starcraft pro scene unfold is like watching an epic Grammy award winning movie. Amazing cast and amazing plot(t). Seeing this video amplifies that. It's so amazing to see Tasteless, Day[9] and Artosis as standard competitive nerds at first and to see them become such important members in the community.
