Never forget that there's other events besides GSL and GSTL this year coming out of Gom, including the Super Tournament, the Blizzard Cup, and the World Championships. Shit is crazy this year. There's a million things going on and it is all awesome.

Considering NASL most probably isn't sponsored by a bank, or Sony fucking ericson or whatever GSL is sponsored by nowadays, I think 100K for one tournament, hyped by players and the community is huge.

I never discredited NASL or anything. It should be awesome. However, I'm just amused at everyone saying GSL should step aside or step it up. Nothing needs to change.

Well, what are you most hyped for at the moment?

I'm seriously more hyped for this than GSL, GSL need to step up their hype a little bit, I mean,
This, Dreamhack, TSL, MLG coming to Europe and MLG DC and Dallas in general, all really big non Korean announcements, all Korea has got going for them tournament wise is GSL, that's where they need to step it up.

Easily most hyped for GSL. MVP, NesTea, MC... so dominant and amazing to watch. Jinro, HuK, Ret... 3 of the best foreigners, quite interested to see how they will fare. GSTL, the most epic 3 days of SC2 I could possibly imagine, cannot wait for the next team league that will hopefully be way bigger.

I agree all the hype for NASL currently is "OMG ITS HAPPENING IN AMERICA."

While GSL hype is like "we already have it happening and we have the best players in the world."

So at the end of this obvious 'hype contest' I will have to declare GSL the winner. I want fruitdealer to make a comeback so bad =(

The most exciting thing about a new, gigantic starleague-equivalent in NA is that it has the power to literally create a scene of Korea-esque skill. It'll make international competitions(the best kind of competitions; wcg et al) mindblowing.

I'm just hoping that when they "announce" NASL, that they really give us all the information.

I've heard a few times that there's some Korean tournaments that Americans don't really see or know about. Like for instance you couldn't really watch the ZOTAC stuff outside of Korea. Kinda disappointing.

GSL is so huge though that I think it's all-encompassing, and good enough to do that. I like it much much better than MLG, Dreamhack, and such; if NASL can step it up enough to knock GSL off of its pedestal, that'll be insane. Not necessarily because I care whether the best scene is in Korea or USA or Germany or anywhere else, but just because the idea of a league that is even better than GSL gives me those creepy nerd chills.

I'd say that this announcement bringing Idra home(or contributing to it) is a really big deal for western esports. Idra living with Machine is going to give both of them such a big edge over the competition that I think everyone else will have to start contemplating partnerships and team houses of that kind just to keep up.

If/when NASL gets to the point that GSL is at, then my god, and yeah, I'm sure that there's loads of other Korean tournaments going on that we don't know about, but yeah, I'm just putting up what we got/what we know (the western tournaments) there's alot ALOT more to be hyped for.
Thank you, based god.

I think I might cry at the awesomeness of this new tournament. You can bet your ass there will be plenty of Koreans who want to come and compete in it since the prize pool is almost as big as GSL.

The TSL invites are amazing but I agree with him. GSL is still the most exciting tournament around for now. Never forget that the GSL has newcomers of Code S skill that have been completely off the radar until recently, and we haven't even seen or heard of all of them yet.

I don't mean to take anything away from the NASL announcement though. I am amped for it. hugely. Like way amped. My hype levels for this entire year, NA, EU, and KR are off the charts..

Well we don't know how often NASL will occur could be a lot less than 11/12 times a year like GSL so the prize pool isn't as relatively huge. Regardless its pretty amazing that foreign esports has gotten this big.

The "good" players are in Korea because the prize pool over there is much more attractive...Wait till after the announcement is made...I can bet you that if it's what we think it is and the prize pool rivals GSL's, then the standard of play is going to improve drastically here in NA...I can bet you that Clans such as ROOT are already practicing like nuts right now in preparation for this and so is Idra and team EG.

Korean players don't have any inherently "magical" skills that make them better at Starcraft than the rest of the world...They simply play it more because their culture has accepted e-sports and has made them practicing hours on end for it worth their while.

Suffice to say that this is the year the world will be taken by storm and at the helm of this e-sport revolution: EG.Incontrol a.k.a Captain America!!!!
Take what is theirs and make it yours.
