Does the calculator at sc2ranks.com predict the correct and current rankings of people? From what I can tell, the cut to master league, for example, wont be calculated on raitings only. Me, for example, is ranked 1095 with (2287)2602. 2602 is my current raiting, but what the heck is 2287?. I know this is most likely explained above, but if someone has time and knowledge to explain this just short I would be greatful. All I wonder, can I trust this ranking and will I be put into Masters league with my current 1095 placement, which roughly represents top 3 % ?. Thx in advance! | ||

Reason 1) sc2ranks master league has everyone on diamond on divisions with known offsets. So random people are in there, and random people are not there, that's it. Reason 2) Blizzard Master League will be top X% based PROBABLY on the hidden MMR, not points, as any other league. | ||

Thx in advance! 2287 is your adjusted rating, or "true" rating without division modifiers applied. Your division is only listed because it contained a representative from a past Top 200 parse, and divisions whose offsets are not known are not listed. Only approximately 10% of divisions on the NA server are listed for this reason (more for the LA server, I believe around 10% for the EU server). It's probably doubtful that #1095 on that Masters page will be enough for the Master league, since that probably means you're in the top 30% or so of Diamond. EDIT: Changed some wording. | ||

Basically it boils down to he is ranked top 3% as compared, in part, to 200-1000 of the best on the server (the top 200 members throughout time) so assuming an identical skill distribution in the divisions with no members of the elite isn't sound. To emphasize this point lets assume he was rated top .5% or something actually in the top 200, you certainly couldn't just multiply by ten and say he'd be top 5% overall, as we know he would actually still be top .5%. Basically your assumption is way too bold and only represents the absolute floor. edit: just to hammer home my point, this guys true rating is 2287 and even if every other person that exists is rank S (meaning their visible points = true points) he'd still be about top 9% | ||

If he's ranked 1000th, that's the top 20%. Now, there are bound to be players in unlisted divisions that have a higher MMRs/points than some players in listed divisions, just as there are bound to be players in unlisted divisions that have lower MMRs/points. I think as a general estimate it's not far off. | ||

How else would the modifier actually help to inflate people's ladder ratings to make their rating seem closer to all the other player's ratings? Unless perhaps they straight up gave the weaker divisions the modified amount as bonus pool. | ||

Confused still as to why I'm NOT on the list, I thought inactivity since I only play my SEA account occasionally to spend my bonus pool (I play a lot of Team Games and on my NA account). I played 6 games in my last week, 5 wins, 1 loss. Week before 9 Games, 5 Wins, 4 Loss. However further investigation notes my RL friend Timmes has only player 2 games (Both wins) in the last fortnight and he still made the Top 200. At first I thought maybe my division modifier was wrong, however reconfirmed off "TheMuscle" who sits in the right place between kTT and TATribune on both the SEA Top 200 and the SC2Ranks List. Next, I thought maybe there's a minimum games to play to get in the Top200, but that's not the case, as there is someone with 217 games played. (I've played 267) Thoughts anyone? | ||

Liquid'Huk has a second account that he has been playing on recently, and has shown up on the Korean top 200 last week and as #62 this week. I believe the division is Division Tosh Uncle, listed as 토시 엉클 조. Going back and looking at the points for the player above him on Top 200, GuMihofOu, he had 3531 points with a +315 modifier in his division, putting him at 3216. The player below HuK, 닭강정, had 3208 points in an S-class division. HuK, at 165-110 with 3211 points is placed between them, so if it isn't already apparent, Tosh Uncle is an S-class division with a +0 modifier. There are seven players in this division that are currently on the official Top 200. I did not see anyone list this in the thread and it is not on SC2ranks. And SC2ranks does not make it very apparent who to send information regarding division modifiers to or if they even want to be contacted. | ||

It's probably MMR based. Your MMR or MMR moving average isn't there yet. The problem is we are only looking at the top 200 points (after offsets) cause that's all we can see right now. But what if Blizzard looked first at top 200 MMR and just then organized them by points? That could be the case, so you need higher MMR and you'll only get that beating players with higher MMR than yours. Have you ever fought against someone at top 200? If so, how many points did you won or lost? if you won more than 12 points that means your mmr was(is?) lower than his indeed, if you lost less than 12 that also means your mmr is lower than his and that would explain why some players, expecialy on LA and SEA servers seems to be failing the top 200 with Exc_Z math. | ||

Shadowed is the sole operator and point of contact for SC2Ranks, and you can simply post in this thread and either he or I will see it (and I can notify him directly). I only do updates for the NA server, I only did KR for one week and left it up to their community at PlayXP to continue the project. However, more updates are always welcome. E-mail him with the divisions and modifiers and he'll update the list. Exc_Z do the math for NA and I do for LA, but I am not sure who if anyone do the math weekly for Korea, Europe and others, but I am sure that Shadowed is the one that put the information online. Go to sc2ranks and look for "Contact", there you'll get his contact e-mail. | ||
