It's almost like the opposite of the "loser picks" map rule, the previous winner has an advantage, let's give him a bigger advantage! Pile it up! TT;; This is why MLG finals aren't remembered as well as any other (it's not ONLY because of that of course, theres no chance to hype the finals as it takes place right there the very same night as the last day of MLG), because let's say NaDa is playing BoxeR in the finals, and NaDa is up 2-0. Even if BoxeR equalizes it, he's been fatigued from playing those two games, and NaDa might have figured out more about his playstyle in those two games. Of course, most extended series don't even end up being equalized so >,>.... I mean, GSL finals are at least known for being awful because of all the stupid mind-gaming people do (Maybe InCa just decided to go DT's 4 times in a row on the fly??), IEM and NASL (the one that has taken place) finals are known for being really awesome, MLG finals just aren't known at all. Stimpack ran out! /rant off

How exciting would the super bowl be if one team got a two touchdown lead at the beginning of the game, because of a regular season confrontation weeks or months in the past? I have yet to watch an MLG finals, in spite watching at least a dozen matches from each of the last few events. Your example is of the NFL, which uses a single elim format, so its not comparable to double elim. We wouldnt even be able to use the NCAA bbal tournament for comparison because thats single elim.

If MLG ignore the players and fans on this matter, then who are they trying to please by keeping the extended series? Anyone know if they have polled the players about the extended series rule ?

The reward for winning against someone is getting placed higher in the bracket. They shouldn't get another advantage.

If it was a normal Bo3 with both players starting on 0, Boxer would probably play more straight up. But Boxer knows he needs 4 wins and Idra 2. So he just wanted to end some of the games early. That's my thought

It's Idra's fault in this case and boxer knew Idra cant really adapt his play... and thats why he cheesed him all the time. Boxer really deserved the victory on this serie tbh

The one that cheeses 3 times, or the one that can't even defend simple ladder cheeses 3 times in a row? If you know your opponent is terrible at defending early game cheeses, anyone would do it in a big tournament like this; just like in any other sports, as long as you're not violating any rules, play to win.

So lets say Boxer won the first set 2-0 and then Idra wins the first 3 of the next set. So now the score is at 2-3. Then boxer cheeses and wins 2 more game. If you think idra is the better player he would have won without the extended series rule in this set up but he lost because of the extended series rule. You're post is pretty ignorant.
