It's because the macro is pretty easy, even a gold player like me can macro very efficiently. It gives players more time to focus on battles. | ||

In the first Cool video he was focusing so hard on micro, from the multitasking-perspective it reminded me of that old Tillerman marine micro scene ( http://sclegacy.com/feature/4-pp/269-pimpest-plays-2002#10 ). He had like 1k overmins after that and it was absolutely not worth it. Just goes to show how that aspect is pretty much lost in SC2. That automatically devalues any cool micro scenes from SC2, because there's just an inflation of those. Many people can micro well if they focus on it. At least in BW you could tell with certainty that focusing 100% on micro for 15 seconds was a mistake. In SC2 it might be ok. Probably the skill went a bit from real multitasking to knowing when to do what. | ||

From my experience, macro is the defining problem with pretty much everybody below diamond. Not enough workers, not enough units, too much unspent money, too many supply blocks. Even top ladder players (Darkforce for example) have games with massive reserves of unspent money (before reaching 200/200 of course). | ||
