Hello all!

I was really pumped about seeing those TLO vs NaDa replays and had to cast them! game 1 is up atm and game 2 should be up in an hour or two. (Hooray YouTube for dying after uploading %90 of it the first time)

EDIT: Game 2 is finally uploaded!

Anyway, hope you enjoy! Check out the ZvZ between SLush and mOOnGLaDe on my channel if you've got time too. It's probably the best ZvZ I've ever seen. (well Sen vs IdrA on Lost Temple was really good too, but that was a while ago now)

My channel is still in it's infancy, but any comments/criticism (and subsribers) would be cool! I'm planning on doing about 2-3 casts per week and things have gone great so far.

<3 to Diggity for his "how to record SC2 and upload it to YouTube video" as well.

EDIT: I'll post the link to game 2 when it's finished uploading. Looks like it'll be about 2 hours though... Why? YouTube Why? Why was this the only game ever that's not uploaded correctly the first time! lol Also removed preview in order to not fill insane amounts of space with the first post. -_-
I cast, therefore I am.

Question for terran players

Nada kept siege-ing his tanks to fight thors + hellions

Don't tanks do FAR more damage unsieged when splash damage is not important?

I think his bio + tank army would have done much better if his tanks focus fired the thors (one at a time) unsieged >_>

Great games they were. TLO is looking really solid at the moment. I really hope he qualifies for GSL S2

Actually you beat him with the first game by a few hours, he's only just put them up.

Don't let it stop you casting game 2 though, I know a lot of people on here don't like Husky so you may as well give them an alternative

You have a pretty decent voice for casting.. most of the casts I watch on SC2casts.com are so frustrating that I end up turning the volume off and just watching the game, but yours wasnt too bad, didnt make me want to smash my head into a wall.. so gw.

husky is not the absolute worst, but I cant stand his voice or his retarded comments either, turn the volume off that shit asap.

Thanks for this..

I still wonder why hellions are so cheap, mineral only units that do SPLASH damage and move SO FAST lol.. Honestly..

Great casting by the way, no stuttering and a clear voice..

I think it is a habit from SC1 (though it is not useful to be done even then)

Yeah, only the best and most inovative SC players of all time. Totaly overrated!

Thanks for the comments on these. Should get your VODs linked on sc2gg.com so we got a husky/HD alternative, can't stand those casts QQ

tanks should be buffed to 35 (+30) or 35(+35) imo, they just cost way too much atm for their long time to siege and their low dmg and immobility.

have you checked sc2ranks at all? They are both rated above TLO currently with boxer having a profile at 28th in the world, and these guys started playing late compared to the rest of the top players. It's amazing how quickly they are picking up the game.

The potential is there. They both have had major success in the past which leads most people to believe they will be able to bring out innovation in SC2. If they go several tournaments without winning anything or creative play then you can say they were overhyped.

I agree! Doesnt matter how well you have performed on SC:BW. They will always be remembered as all-time greats in SC:BW, but they still have to prove them self in SC2. So IMO i also think they are a bit overhyped.

On-topic of the game! Interesting build for TLO! And i love TLO's hellions ^^. Using them to max efficency!

About hellions: yes they are cheap and good units but they are very micro-intensive. Even progamers sometimes fail to micro them correctly.

ps: wow the guy saying Nada and Boxer are overhyped didn't get a warning...

Cheap? They're vulture replacements which used to cost 75 min 2 supply in BW (i.e. cheaper) and could be upgraded to have spider mines... I think it's just that TLO makes them look awesome in this game. Taking out sieged tanks with hellions :O

And great casting DoA! your fixation on the burning rax made me lol. does your name stand for anything?

Game 2 is finally up! lol. I need to call my ISP about that upload speed...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LYJDgsGIuKA

Thanks for the positive comments guys! There will be more games hitting the channel soon!

Back on topic though... There is definitely a lot of hype that's coming along with these Brood War pros switching to SC2, but so far I think it's been deserved. When you watch the games with them in it you can see that they are operating on a different set of mental rules than the typical SC2 pro and that's what's interesting to me at least. Whether or not that will translate into tournament wins remains to be seen.

I'm still psyched though!

TLO has some of the best placements and timings of his units. In game 1, he sends in the thor to soak up the first hits of the tanks, and then rushes in his hellions during the cooldown time. In game 2, he leapfrogs his tanks perfectly, and pulls his marines back at key times to force Nadas bio ball into tank range, then as the bio ball retreats, he stims his marines and attacks them without them attacking back. His micro is amazing.

Yeah actually the name does stand for something. Or at least it used to. Way back in 2001 when I started playing the original Halo (yeah I know, but what can I say? I've played FPSs since Wolfenstien 3d!) I picked the name "DeadOnArrival" because I knew I'd pretty much immedietly die upon spawning. People started calling me D O A and then finally Doa (pronounced doe - ah) and the nickname stuck. I use it for pretty much every game now.

Glad everyone's enjoying the casts! Although I really do have to credit TLO and NaDa for providing great games in the first place. TLO has this uncanny ability to just make things work that shouldn't otherwise through excellent on-the-fly decision making. It's always fun to watch!

NaDa doesn't look that impressive, I have to say. TLO in an other hand, looked really solid.

Let see in a couple of month.

Hm, it's surprising to see TLO owning both Nada and BoxeR.

1, I didn't know TLO was THAT good. Aside from his fan-favorite creativity, he always lacked the certain punch to battle with truly crazy Koreans (like Cool, SKS, etc).

2, Nada and BoxeR isn't omgroflsweeping SC2 as one would expect from all the hype. I know just started vs others who's been playing since Beta.

Just sharing my honest thoughts. I love all 3.

Great commentating. Keep up the good work.

TvT has developed into such an interesting matchup. Definitely the most entertaining mirror imo. I wish pvp was half this interesting and varied. Damn colossus.

TLO has this uncanny ability to just make things work that shouldn't otherwise through excellent on-the-fly decision making

That's TLO!
I used to be a pretty avid supreme commander player, and watching TLO and TBO together was always rivitting and inspiring. TLO was the absolute master of using surgical strikes with dropships (in a game where macro and large armies reigned supreme). He just had this ability to 'make it work' which nobody else seemed to be able to pull off properly. I've enjoyed every second of watching that TLO magic bloom in SC2.

Thanks for casting these games. I really enjoyed your comentary - it was moderate and pallatable. I really can't watch Husky's commentarys, especially with my girlfriend sat next to me... She just hears this screechy voice making battle sound effects and getting over-excited, and asks me if I'd mind turning it down. Your casting style is a lot more mature and enjoyable.

Good Games.

Also, I really liked your casting. Seriously, you are better than 95% of the casters that have popped up. Good job.

Solid games. I'm a big fan of the thor and use them whenever the opportunity presents itself, so I loved the use of thors in both games.

Also, awesome casting. Subbed, looking forward to more!

One of the better casts I've heard recently. Not been a big fan of most youtube casts since the original Voice of Esports team.

You're voice is great the whole time, no extremes, very clear. In G1 the barracks/ factory joke felt slightly forced.

G2 maybe mentioning some bits about the map would be nice. Also might have enjoyed some mention of the GSL. Generally a little more backstory would be nice, but I know how hard it is to naturally fit that into the commentary.

Maybe slightly more strategic talk about positioning and the unit composition choice and what that means would be nice. Do you like the thor opening?

Long and short, it was quite watchable, good job.

Question for terran players

Don't tanks do FAR more damage unsieged when splash damage is not important?

I think his bio + tank army would have done much better if his tanks focus fired the thors (one at a time) unsieged >_>

I would think that would be true in most cases. There is a tendency overall for players to allow their units to bunch up though, which would probably make keeping the tanks sieged more beneficial. TLO's unit management is too good to be hurt by that though. This is all speculation of course.

It's also completely possible that NaDa had just simpy never run into that style of TvT before and wasn't sure about how to react the first time. I think this is going to be a rivalry to watch for sure now.

Well, strategy wise I think TLO is definitely one of the very top and mechanically he is very strong. His game sense in TvT is just phenom, but I'm interested in seeing how he'd fare against Cool or Tester. Though he lost to Hyper so his TvT is certainly beatable.

To be fair

BBS on metaopolis (cheese is more common on 2 player maps) combined with Hyper scouting the right way and TLO scouting the wrong way was just as unlucky as you can get.

Balance discussion about Terrans in a thread about a TvT? Right.

Yeah, about the two games.. I think TLO definitely played very strongly, especially in game 2 where he scouted the Gold expansion and basically ignored it and just ran him over. I also really liked the early Thors in game 1.
This post is clearly not a hurr, as you can see from the graph, the durr never intersects with the derp.

TLO is definitely improving... watch some of his games from a month or two ago, a big difference. He's really tightened up his game.

The play in these was damn near flawless from TLO, I can't think of a single mistake... aside from Game 2, maybe holding his SCVs off the mineral line a bit too long when he was afraid of Nada pushing in. That was very minor, though.

Really I just followed DIggitySC's guide on YouTube. I'd post a link, but I'm way out in the country at the moment and can barely get an internet connection through my phone. TL loads for now, but not YouTube. lol Just look on DIggity's channel to find it.

Very good casting indeed! Natural and clear with no "umm" moments, mumbling or over excitement. Commentary for grownups, I would say. Quite surprising if these are your first commentaries. Keep it up!

Oh, and good games as well. As always, TLO seems to have 6th sense about when to commit to an attack.

Because NaDa is experimenting in these replays. For those who can't figure this out, think about this for a few seconds:

1) Would NaDa want a replay of his full potential and full play style to be released to the public before he participates in GSL2? Obviously not. This leads to point 2).

2) Nada is experimenting in these videos. He experimented to see if a larger group of marines could overhwelm a smaller group of marines with 2 medivacs. He experimented if marauders + marines would work against pure marines.

I don't think the most successful OSL/MSL title holder ever who has been practicing SC2 for hundreds of games will walk into the GSL2 playing like he did in the replays. Nada's unit composition and tactics will be much more solid for GSL2, but as for these replays, it's just Nada experimenting with what works and what doesn't.

I give the guy all the props in the world for being innovative, but when he was first making a splash during the beta, through my biased, BW player eyes, all he did was sneaky one-base all-ins every game.

He's always been a blast to watch, and I've never shied away from his games, but initially he just didn't have those steely mechanics that all us BW old-timers respect so much.

That said, the dude has fucking come into his own. He is legit these days, in every, single way.

I know he's improved, but I really don't understand why you'd call him a one-baser. He's never been a one-base all-in player. His early game was very passive/reactionary on beta, his wins came from getting to the midgame and then keeping up solid macro while going into full Shock and Awe mode with any unit he could get his hands on. Toss was actually his weakest because it's such a rigid race compared to T and Z.

The game that made him truly famous, against LiquidNazgul on Metalopolis, had him at 4 (or more? don't remember exact amount) of bases.

Great plays in the vid, loved that one-shot bbq of what, six marines in the first game xD. TLO's underrated because of his early losses during the beta, but that was when he was also occupied with school - combining his awesome strategy/creativity with the mechanics training of Korea regimen, you have one awesome combo =)
