Its good and all that blizzard is cracking down on these no gooders. I can't help but wonder that some of the people who were legit got banned and some of them that weren't didn't. It would really suck to have to pay another 60 dollars for not hacking.

I don't think it's a good idea to release the names of the hackers. Remember the character codes? How many "killers" or JimRaynors are out there? What if they banned one of them who hacked? Then you got 999 other innocent guys who get their names tarnished.

Blizzard just repeating the same pattern as they have for the last 10 years. Let hacks/exploits go on for a while, and then announce you're banning a tiny amount of people (in retrospect) every few months, rinse and repeat. This same procedure was the norm during D2 and WC3, and was hardly a solution. Its just enough to dissuade some people from using hacks, but not enough to get rid of the problem. In a game played by hundreds of thousands of people (a lot more if they included trial accounts in that figure), this is a drop in the bucket. I wonder if this time around they will be more proactive than a quarterly banhammer event.

I'm surprised to see so many people this excited about this announcement..

They really should display the user IDs to humiliate them. If the terms and conditions signed by the user allows Blizzard to distribute personal information, then displaying their real life names wouldn't be too bad of an idea either. It would be huge OH SHIT moment for all hackers out there.

i watch every single one of my replays, and after watching psy break down a match with a maphacker, i check for it now. i've found about four or five people who have done it and i'm surprised it's only 5000

I wonder if there is a way to check whether the person I reported was warned/banned. The guy was not only hacking but proceeded to berate me by msging me after the game. BM doesn't really bother me but the fact that Blizzard is doing something vs hackers is great.
