|
Aweeeeeeesome. I am so pumped for this event. Gonna be fucking epic.
|
I knew it! Hell yeah Tastosis is back!!
|
Woooooo so excited. However its not gona be the same with out SDM
|
well, this can hardly be any suprise that Tasteless is casting for Gomtv but its nice with confimation
but Artosis casting also is GREAT news, i really think he shine the most when he cast(TSL, Blizzcon ect)
GSL is gonna be amazing
|
|
Best news I've heard in a while. Hopefully his surgery went well
|
Sweet, really excited to hear tasteless cast again.
|
Artosis is my favorite commentator.
|
Oh yes, the casting archon!
|
Will be great to finally hear tasteless again.
|
Wicked news.
What a way to hype up GSL even more

Currently on pain killers from my knee surgery. If I had to describe the feeling from these things, I would have to say "gfffjaszzzaffgah.." http://twitter.com/CallMeTasteless/status/21732148291
|
Fond memories of the stumbling onto the original gomtv invitational vods through digg or something and rediscovering the beautiful game. Looking forward to this tourney for sure!
|
Yeah, I checked the other posts as well. Nothing really seems to say how well the surgery went, though the painkiller comment is funny

i guess this means artosis won't be trying his luck in the qualifiers ;p

great to see tasteless casting again! kinda sad that it has to be artosis...but well...it will be good anyways
|
|
He's back! I've missed that handsome nerd. I wonder what new jokes will be spawned from this epic event
|
|
Great to see Nick casting again :D
|
good. Tasteless is the best caster bar none in esports. He doesnt talk about stupid subjects for 30 minutes before every match like other casters, and his jokes are not so over the top it makes you want to shut the stream down like most casters seem to do lately. He perfected the balance between being funny/amusing, and not taking away from the game.

I'm out of the hospital! My knee surgery went well! The doctor says i should be walking in a week!
Is the one which says how well his surgery went http://twitter.com/CallMeTasteless/status/21707237895
Anyways, I'm so hype for sc2 as an esport right now. I really want to see what the korean players have to offer and if the foreign players will perform well. (Also excited about TLO practicing with oGs him and Jinro will be one feared set of players as for Nazgul no clue how he will perform been a while let's see if he can show people how protoss is played again :D)
|
I released a glorious battle-cry when I saw this thread.
|
Im so hyped for this now, gonna be fantastic.
|
Don't forget about Artosis!! He has the best analysis out of any caster imo (except perhaps Day[9]). Gonna be an awesome duo.
|
Hooray! I rather hear artosis cast then see him playing tbh
|
this is super sick. In the past tasteless had superdanielman and now he has artosis. I cant wait to watch the streams of these tournaments and even more so now with some english casters.
|
Fantastic, this is going to be amazing to watch!
|
|
Awesome. Hopefully Artosis will clean up a bit although I'm sure his casting will be great. I will miss the days of monkey milk, though...
|
Really good news. Must've sucked not being able to talk about it. You can totally see the frustration in Tasteless' interviews.
"Hey we haven't heard from you in awhile" *massive frustration building* "Yea, I've been occupied.."
|
That's legen... wait for it... dary!
|
Good Job guys, seriously good fucking job, you totally deserve this.
|
I was undecided whether I should stay in for the GSL or not that weekend, this decides it tasteless & artosis commentary duo is the best
|
As long as Artosis doesn't fall into his own trap of whinning and complaining about the game too much, this should be an awesome team of casters!
|
Absolutely amazing news! I can hardly wait!!

YEAAAAH NICE!!! Artosis and Plott, sweet.

This is so much win. Can't wait!

GSL just got 1 permanent viewer =)

Tasteless and Artosis doing the Korea/Asia coverage
Day9 doing US/EU coverage
imo thats pretty much perfect
|
Awesome. Tasteless was expected, but I didn't think Artosis would have been the co-caster.
|
What about Huksy and HD ? They are only "REAL" casters out there lol lol lol
GJ Tasteless GJ Artosis HF

I can't say I am surprised, but good for them that it is settled and announced!

I've just came from a 20h flight and I definately needed this. Totally cheered me up
|
Day[9] and Chill did so much better than artosis and tasteless in tsl2. :O
they're still awesome and will do a good job though.
|
This is some really great news, though I'll be missing SuperDanielMan ):
|
The duo is back <3 The GSL just got more awesome.
|
Great, missed the old sunday mornings for Gom seasons 2 and 3. Wonder how the times of the casts will work out.
|
You more or less knew this was going to happen already but having it confirmed makes me sooo happy. Artosis as the co-caster is a great choice too.
|
|
Great news!
Now I just have to hope that I get a watchable stream. When they stream with english comentators I hope they try to improve the quality to eu/us.

Woo looking forward to hearing Tasteless again!
|
Wooot! So psyked about Tasteless commentating again!
Here's something to go nostalgic over or if you are a new member - Some Tasteless quotes:
+ Show Spoiler +
|
|
Artosis: If there was one piece of advice you'd give Lyn what would it be? Malystryx: umm I umm don't think I can Artosis: Oh you aren't in a position to give advice?
Tasteless jumping in: I'll give Lyn a word of advice. Kill Grubby's blademaster. And Play starcraft 1, it's really awesome. I'm kidding Warcraft 3 players. I know somewhere in the world a Nerd just got angry. -------
Classic, can't wait for these guys!
|
Hopefully GomTV stream doesn't crap out like usual, that would have MASSIVE NEGATIVE RAMIFICATIONS.
|
The past few weeks have be amazing - I've been nothing but excited and I've done nothing but feel like a kid in a candy store watching the esl, gomtv star2gether episodes, osl, wcg qualifiers, the mlg later tonight, and to top it all off now i have even more of a reason to watch the gsl preseason this saturday!
|
Niiice, had kinda thought that Tasteless would be involved in the GSL. But Artosis too!? Oh my god, thats amazing. Can't waiiiiit.
|
Wonder what kind of coverage we will get of the qualifiers.
|
The Storm Observer returns! I have been waiting for this day for sooo long!
|
Man this is going to be amazing, I will finally be able to understand the commentators. Congrats to both Artosis and Tasteless, it has been a long road for you guys, and I couldn't be more excited now to watch the GSL.
|

This should be great. It's been so long since tasteless did consistent commentary that there are probably a whole group of people new to the SC/SC2 scene that may know day9 but not tasteless. I know a few of my friends are definitely in that situation.
A great chance for newer users to get a taste of the legendary storm observer! I really don't think GSL could get any better.

Artosis and Tasteless are one of the absolute best combos possible. Really glad to hear this, even though it was expected
|
best news read since last wcg
tastless and artosis are a great team wonder that both now cast for gom perfect
sometimes artosis seems anoying BUT its so much fun when they cast together that even their "amerian are the best in the world" mentality is acceptable just cause they are SO cool ^^
|
YES YES YES Tastosis Artoless or what ever u want to call this symbiosis of perfect background and gameplay knowledge is back!!! :D Hell it's about time!
|
I hear the Asian SC2 commentators aren't the best. It is too bad considering how great the English casters are.
|
Artosis is going to have to work hard to catch up on all the non-Zerg match-ups, but I'm sure the Tasteless/Artosis combo is going to be dynamite.
|
Congrats to artosis for landing the job. The Tasteless+Artosis combo should be fantastic.
|
|
Now we are talking! I'm expecting the casting level to outperform anything we've gotten used to during the Beta and the first post-launch month. GGs ahead!
|
FUCK YES ARTOSIS AND TASTELESS Starcraft 2 just got real.
Also, LOL @ that Warcraft video.
Artosis: Well, I want to say something about these bases. They remind me of ant farms. Tasteless: Little ant farm bases? Artosis: Yeah, they have little tunnels going through, you know, they have little ants going one place, come out from another place. Tasteless: Oh yeah I can see it now, little ants blocking off other ants.. Ant micro Artosis: There might be a way that uhh.. these progamers wanna study how to become better at making their bases is to buy a couple of ant farms and to just see the patterns these natural creatures make. WC3 commentator: I think Warcraft fans are really gonna hate you, I don't know why.
|
Do you know the direct league to the stream for that? Or is there an english version of the GSL site?
|
OMG. this is aweeeeesooome. well, Tasteless once gave a hint that we could expect something from a him and GomTV, but he did not go into details^^. now we know all about this. CAN`T W8!

I actually first got into casted Starcraft games through GomTV and more importantly, Tasteless casting!
So this news basically turns me into a little girl at a Justin Bieber concert, in terms of excitment for the GSL.
|
Gonna love listening to the storm observer again, he was who got me back into SC after being out for years with the gomtv star invitational.
|
It was tastless and his gom cast that got me into SC I love that man
|
Hell yea! Looks like SC2 is gonna be just as big as Blizz wanted. Talk about getting the west interested. English commentary, insane prize pool, open to all players, no license required to be pro, etc. Man, this is just too good.
Edit: I don't think the qualifiers are gonna be casted, but where can we expect to find a stream for this? On gomtv.net(the english site for Gom)??
|
Wow this is awesome news! The last time I saw them tag team a commentary was at Blizzcon, which went flawless. Tasteless was awesome in GomTv1 I am highly looking forward to this!

Tasteless (on GOM Classic series) was what got me into following competitive SC. And Artosis as well with all his interviews and content were really great too and gave more flavour to the whole scene and made watching OSLs and MSLs much more exciting.
So thanks, and this shit's going to be great. Definitely my favourite casting duo in BW and SC2.

Actually, I think it might work out fine. Having two extremely exuberant casters might overlap too much and be a little over the top, but Artosis seems to have a drier sort of humour that I think will jive well with Tasteless's more enthusiastic style. And both are super knowledgeable, what more can you ask?
Super pumped. Tasteless and Gomtv was what introduced me the pro-leagues.

How good is Tasteless at SC2? Really glad Artosis is on, he's a little dry but very knowledgeable and clearly a good player since he made Ro64.

|
Err....Gomtv.net is the English Gom site. I'm sure as more info regarding the English commentary is released, that site will be updated. Qualifiers aren't being covered, which is why they said they don't start commentating till next week, when the RO64 starts up.

He runs a cyber cafe judging from his twitter, can't wait to see Tasteless and Artosis cast, but maybe only Tasteless casting if Artosis gets far.

But I heard Artosis also attending the GSL as a player. So it seems he doesn't have any problem with casting the matches while he still plays?

Great news, I am just hoping for one thing: No plugging of Tasteless website and no stupid focus on the panda-bear-guy.
I watched GOMTV but by the end it was pure commercial for his website and looking for the panda-bear-guy, while the action was left unaddressed. So please Tasteless, focus on the casting and plug your website somewhere else.

And if GOMtv sees that having those 2 as casters brings in more revenue, they'll do more to keep them and give them more free room to do what they want (like Tasteless and SDM having the Mumbo Jumbo talks).
Maybe the money doesn't go right into their pockets, but it does indirectly help them in some way.

Best news I've heard in a while. Welcome back Storm Observer!

For those of you, like me, who haven't watched too much professional SC games but have been consumed by all the awesome SC2 action, I found these videos useful for getting me hyped for the Awesome that is Tasteless casting
http://www.tastelessgaming.com/quotes.php
As much as I love Day9 I'm getting really hyped to hear Tasteless's one-liners. What do you think when Sean graduates he'll move to Korea and we'll see a Super Plott Bros combo? Would that be too epic?
Also since this post is already a blatant Tasteless fanboy marker.. anyone know what's up with the handsome nerd? It appears to be having some DB issues.

Yeah, but that's not quite the same thing. If they see that people are willing to pay for English commentary, they'll probably have them comment even on more events like showmatches or whatnot. And both parties would benefit from that, no?

Hm, aren't they b oth also playing in the GSL? I'm slightly confused.

This is really awesome news!

Well Artosis has made it through to ro64, it would seem he wants the cake and eat it as well . Tateless didn't attempt to qualify afaik...
I was happy when I heard this news, and I will pay for an english stream in HD! So get on that GOM!
|
Yeh i'm not sure how Artosis is going to cast and play at the same time. Maybe someone will just take over for him while he is playing his games?
|
Great news!! Really looking forward to it. The return of the storm observer + a great co-caster.

Yeah, I thought artosis qualified (too lazy to read through all the posts) Guess it's just as fun to have good times casting with buddies and hoping the foreigners do well (GL TL+oGs and idra by himself I guess)

Hello, me again.
I'm sorry that I haven't been very active, but we are really busy down here at GomTV. We have just finnished making brackets for RO64. I know many of you are very curious about it, but all I can say is that it will be confidential for now.
As for the opening match, I mentioned before that there will be 16 players playing. It seems I was misinformed. There will be 4 selected players from RO64, which means there will be 2 matches(3 games per match, the best two wins).
Well I guess another big question everyone has is "How the hell do we watch the games?!" We will upload them on http://www.gomtv.net. It is NOT in Korean and you do NOT need to pay.
"What about commentaries?! Do we have to watch it listening to Korean jibberish?" Not to worry. Dan(Artosis) and Nick(Tasteless) are going to provide English commentaries.
If by any chance some of you already live in Korea or are planning to come to Korea this week. The opening match will be held at KBS 88 Stadium at 7pm KST on 4th of September. It's free and all the players that participated in the preliminaries will be given VIP seats and presents.
For further information do not hesitate to email me : junkka@gretech.com

good to hear from someone competent but.. does it mean there will be no english live streams?

I donn't know whether we plan to provide the streams live, but Nick and Dan will be casting on the spot using an English SC2 client to observe the games.

Hopefully its better than the TSL2 commentary, Chill and Day9 were far superior in that.

I started watching Tasteless cast on GomTV vods about a year and a half ago. Because of both Tasteless and your awesome site, I had an epiphany about the thrill of playing and watching Starcraft. Through his analysis, enthusiasm, and personality I believe Tasteless has a very strong charisma that will spread the love of starcraft.
(This runs in the family as I believe Day9 also has a very strong charisma. Unfortunately I have not had the chance to see Artosis in action so I won't say anything about him, but I'm sure he's very good)
I have faith that the commentators will discuss strong strategic analyses both advanced players and newcomers can enjoy and appreciate.
Thank you SO SO MUCH, GomTV, for arranging English commentary for your matches. I will be telling all my friends to watch this!!

WHat about ingame client? If matches will be casted live doesn't it mean that client will be Korean?

Can you please find out more information about english live stream? I'm very happy to get games casted in english, and I am sure that people would be thrilled if the good people at GOM could give us a live stream of the english commentary. We have so many fanatics here on teamliquid that would be devastated to know that a match took place that only had live korean commentating and we have to wait several hours for a VOD of the same game with english commentary. So many nerd tears!
Please if you can keep us posted .

Yeah live commentary would be awesome. I think if the English vods come out later, many people will just watch the live Korean stream rather then wait for the English vods.

I am getting tons of requests asking about the live stream. Seriously guys, I have been working overtime including weekends and my birthday. You folks keep this up and I might as well as live at the office! lol, just kidding. Call me crazy but I actually find all this enthusiasm quite exciting.
Now to the point! Englsih live stream WILL be provided but I am still not sure whether HD live stream will also be available. I can only promise that I will do my best to keep you guys updated with the latest news.

this is what everybody has been waiting to hear (now it's quoted, removing it isn't possible anymore )
I think people - including myself - will be perfectly happy that there is a livestream, even if it's not HD; but as somebody mentioned earlier, most people here (again including myself) are so obsessed with livestreams that they would rather watch a korean livestream than waiting for english VOD-uploads; keep up the great work, I really appreciate that you keep us in the loop!

I wanted to create new topic to post this, but it's been only 2 days since I joined and I can't do that.
For those of you who wish to enter GSL season 2, the entry will begin on 25th of September until 3rd of October.

This is a very useful information. As it hasn't been long since we entered e-sports business and we have just begun to expand our markets beyond Korea or Japan, we are very interested in hearing what kind of service foreigners want. I will definately report this. Thank you for your feedback.

things that are going around through my mind at the moment:
1. it would be important to supply the vods on the same day they have been casted because of all the people around the world who are living in a different time zones, they could watch the games when they wake up/coming home from work. if there would be like two or three days between the match and the upload, for me it would be significantly less interesting because it's almost impossible to "avoid" the results of these games for such a long time
2. it would be really nice if the vod site could be as spoiler free as possible, same reasons as point 1
thank you for your great work for the foreigner community

This. And even actually reading and commentating on the feedback they get from the community. Always a sign of a good organisation.
Someone posted it earlier, but English commentary would be much appreciated rather than VoDs. Most of us will anyway watch the Korean stream instead if there is one and there won't be English commentary stream. But im fine with everything, though it would be awesome to hear Tasteless & Artosis commentating live. It's been a while.
Great work and Hope to hear more from you, Junkka!

Probably at RO64:
Schedule
8/10 ~ 8/22 - Registration 8/28 - Offline Preliminaries 9/4 - Opening match for Ro64 9/6 ~ 9/10 - Ro64 9/13 ~ 9/14 - Ro64 cont'd 9/15 ~ 9/16 - Ro32 9/17 - Ro16 day 1 9/20 - Ro16 day 2 9/21 ~ 9/23 - Korean Thanksgiving Break! 9/24 - Ro8 9/27 ~ 9/28 - Semifinals 10/2 - Finals
Ro64 and on will be broadcasted by GomTV. But not sure if it will be live or replay commentary, since Arrrtosis is still playing. Maybe he'll play and commentate the same time, he's a baller like that

For further information do not hesitate to email me : junkka@gretech.com thanks for the clarifications sir, you said games will be uploaded, but will there be any way to watch live streams with the english commentaries at some point? I donn't know whether we plan to provide the streams live, but Nick and Dan will be casting on the spot using an English SC2 client to observe the games.
<3!!!

Did anyone explain how exactly Artosis will be casting? Clearly he's not going to be casting and playing at the same time so I'm wondering if Tasteless will solo cast that particular game or if someone else will join in Artosis' stead?
|
Sorry guys, a lot of English speaking viewers will no longer be watching your casts
|
Sorry dudes
No more English stream for me too. Can pay, but won't pay!

Does anyone know if that recent broadcast on Battlenet is being utilized? Because it be very awesome, it the epic game of the night from the GSL was embedded there. (Especially because of that new payment option.) Would definitely open up the eyes of the rest the SC2 players who've never watched pro matches.

SWEET! So, who's going to watch it?

lol i thought Artosis was playing.. haha

by the look of recent polls, not many.

It's 50USD if we want to have access to both livestream and vods. Ouch.

So what, are non-HD vods still going to be available for free or no?

That link sound all nice and good, but something happened between 30th of August and 1st of September, so now there will be no free VODs and no free streams (not even low quality).
Of course there will be other sites restreaming them and I am sure the VODs will find their way to YouTube as well, so we can still watch Tastosis, though they will be casting live for a few rich people and some restreamers.

This is so expensive! I donated 20 bucks the first time, and fifty bucks the second time just to help the cause, but now they are expecting fifty bucks?
With all the advertising, and backing from blizzard, how the hell is this suppose to be the esports venue that Blizzard wanted to help spread the tournaments throughout the world.
For 20 bucks I would have done it. 30 bucks, I would have had to think about it. 50 bucks!?!?! I really hope someone will be posting youtube videos and re-streams.

I can see that something has changed, however if this JunkkaGom is actually with GomTV (can anyone confirm this?) it would seem he owes an explanation for explicitly stating there will be free English vods only 2 days ago.

Do they seriously believe we will shell out as much to watch the tournament as it costs to purchase the game? O_o? I'd pay 20$ for access to the stream and vods.
|
Guess I won't be watching these two. Sad b/c I was really looking forward to seeing what all the hype was about the "casting archon". Oh well I guess I'll be watching the korean feed(if thats still free?) and doing my best to follow the commentary there.

can any1 restream this in teamliquid user streams or does the site don't support stuff like that? :x

The site doesn't support it, but they don't take re-streams down unless they are asked to afaik.

He's the same person that posted with the official GOMTV tl-account. So yeah..pretty freakin fast change there

Long time lurker here.
So is it $30 a month for vods, or $30 a year? If it is per month, that is pretty ridiculous and I could not see a lot of people paying that. Especially for something as cheap as paying for bandwidth to host a video, and something that can so easily be pirated around the internet for free anyway.
Come on GOMtv, try to be a little bit competitive. If you go with this expensive model, your english casts will fail, without a doubt.
|
looks like tasteless might soon be jobless
|
Screw GOMtv then. Hopefully the vods will get up for free some way or another, but there is no way in hell I'll ever pay to watch casts, especially if those casts are being done in Korean for free anyway. $50, that has to be some kind of joke, they can go fuck themselves.
|
Got to be $20 max. They ain't no cable company.
|
See you on youtube Tasteless
|
Very nice. Haven't heard a Tasteless cast since Intel Classic Season 3 a year ago.
|
Why do they even hire Tasteless as a Commentator when next to nobody in US/EU will pay the ridiculously large sum to watch the stream/vod's?
What a waste!

At $50/month for livestream + VODs you can't even keep I don't think Tasteless/Artosis will have much of an audience.

they will do an amazing job

i agree with most everyone on this thread, most people are not going to pay for this... not since we have had so many QUALITY tournaments to watch for free...

I just had to make an account for this..
I love the casting of Tasteless and Artosis and hope they'll continue to do so for a long time,
But I can't help everytime the two sit next to each other, they remind me of bert & ernie
Much love and keep up the good work!

Tasteless please read this!!
A few keyboard shortcuts to help make observing easier:
- Holding down alt shows hp bars (and releasing makes them go away) - You can switch into first person mode by pressing 1 (for player 1) or 2 (for player 2). Press 'E' to return to everyones view. This way you won't have to select a unit of the player to get their view
Edit: Whoops I thought this was the thread to help the archon cast better :S
