I think for their 'grandeur' view of esports growing it's sometimes more important for that '6th player' on the a team to make a sacrifice. There is no black or white here, but I initially sided with Tyler, but after hearing Russ out, I gotta go with NASL's decision for 5 players max. For the sake of the 'bigger picture', I think this way is more beneficial for everyone.

In any case tyler makes very very very strong arguments. I dislike the team limit as well.

He can play on the NA server during group stages and just fly to Cali when the playoffs happen. With a 1st place prize of $100,000, TL will DEFINITELY send him if he makes it to the playoffs.

Saying "Team Liquid will be fine" doesn't mean all the other teams will. Even if they are, there are many possibilities for this to become a problem in the future.

you'll see people drop off of major teams and join 'other" teams that are brand new or just a front for players that were left out...

There is a prize pool of 100,000 for the entire first tournament not for first place.

in the end the players will play for themselves because they want to win the money.

Jinro is in the playoffs with a very high chance of winning (pretty much arguably the best foreigner Terran on the plant). You're telling me that even if the 1st place prize is $20,000, TL would not fly him to Cali to play in a tournament which he has a 50% chance to win $10,000 + ?? First place prize is at least $40,000 for NASL (assuming if prize pool is $100,000).

The problem is risk, Root can't get an amazing sponsorship so it's risky to think that there will be 10 well sponsored teams. Obviously if it works out that'd be sweet, proleague in US.

As Tyler said the 5 player restriction may hinder new talents from going to top teams because it would stop them from being able to play in the largest prize pool tournament in NA, that isn't a point you can ignore or hope it works itself out. From a spectators perspective it doesn't matter but from a players perspective that's playing 9 games compared to 4. And they want the players to play that many games.
