It's much more convenient and who stares at their screen while listening to SOTG anyways? Does anyone actually spend their entire focus on 90+ minutes of SC2 talkshow? I was under the impression shows like these are predominantly used as very entertaining background noise.

Sotg has helped me with building various empires in various strategy games (Heroes 6, Europa Universalis 3) or Raiding and/or Grinding in WoW and other games ^^. That last episode was gold and probably the first one were i really think that Incontrol was "righter" than the others ![]()

What kind of question is this really? Some people just prefer watching and listening to this show, many of us have 2 computer monitors hooked up and like to watch SoTG on the HDTV. You clearly just prefer having it in the backround, but that is what *you* prefer, looking at how many people are asking for the VOD, there is clearly demand for it.

Anyway, with each day later it loses a lot viewership. They're not losing viewership because the vod is a day or two after the episode was aired. Don't kid yourself.

I get the feeling that mostly Europeans are eager to watch the VOD, and we all know for a fact that SOTG doesn't give a shit on EuroPEONS... jk ![]()

Only thing you can argue about is how much viewership they're losing. Just to be clear, I'm talking about Europeans watching vods who can't catch the episodes live (99 %). For me it's like this: Vod released day after SOTG: 90 % probability of me watching. Vod released 2 days after SOTG: 80 % probability of me watching. Vod released 4 days after SOTG: 50 % probability of me watching. Vod released after next SOTG: 5 % probability of me watching. I think reasons for this are pretty obvious and were already mentioned in this thread.

Yeah, it's the same for me, if the vod is not out it in the first 24hr there is only a 50% probability of me watching. If it is more than 3 days there is only a 5% chance i will actualy remember it and watch it. I used to watch almost every STOG befeore , but i actualy only watched one of the last 4. The longer it takes to release the void the more outdated the episode becomes, and the more i lose interest.

if mlg would allow the vod feature of twitch.tv then the vod would be available instantly after the live show has ended (like it's the case with inside the game) mlg is killing esports T_T

It's not a case of him being "better than the MLG team". When he used to run the show off of Blip.tv they have an internal feature (similar to what Twitch.tv does) whereby any live streams are automatically encoded and uploaded onto their servers. The difference between that and the MLG system I would guess, is that JP hands over a raw output file from the stream (probably ridiculously big in file size given how long the show runs for and it's in HD) which is then encoded into a suitable format for their web player. There's probably also a certain degree of actual editing/post-production they do to improve it further. Then finally they have to upload it onto the MLG servers which is when we get to see it. This is just how I would imagine the process is, having worked doing basic video editing/production before (though nowhere near the level of what MLG produces).
