It's clear that blizzard's intention is for it to be some sort of World Cup (like FIFA's World Cup for football (soccer)) and everyone know that kind of tournament puts regional representation over competitivenes. I don't know soccer(football) well, but it doesn't seem like it's a poorly run tournament. With the maps blizzard is using, it would be like using some shitty artificial turf in soccer.

That's at the pro level, which is what the SotG lads are talking about. That doesn't mean at your level Terran is OP (because excepting a couple of abusive builds, eg: 1-1-1) Terran is arguably the race that needs the best mechanics to play at a high level. Don't get your back up about it Terran players, your race might be OP, but at your level it actually doesn't matter. Remove GSL code s players from the equations and teran is doing the worst of all races. Its true that terran is really rewarding when your code s korean player, but its also the most difficult race to play in a macro game.

Which is exactly his point. National representation over competetiveness. It's not similar at all. It's not like Manchester United is made of entirely different roster than the British national team. Manchester United has players from a number of different countries. The best analogy I could give would be if you had 3v3 teams made up by nationality and then 3v3 teams made up of SC teams like Dignitas and Liquid. It's just not comparable at all. Also, the World Cup is super prestigious. Whether or not you get better play from the club teams doesn't change the fact that winning the World Cup is probably the most prestigious thing for a team and its players. Where does the idea that the World Cup is a second rate tournament come from?

Yeah, the race win rate graphs would beg to differ: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=272754 Terran has been on top in Korea and Internationally forever. Looking at how long it has been going on, it is not even close. Where does this idea come from that only Code S Terrans are good and all other Terrans suck? I'm pretty sure players like Select, Sjow, ThorZaiN, and Kas would be good examples against this.

I think it's mostly an american idea, since most players here in US, players do not care about articipating in world tournaments, except for the olympics.. maybe. Everybody that is anybody plays in the WC though, the stakes cannot be higher by a wide margin.

What tournaments are terran players winning? 2 times blizzcon ( select, major) is like everything a foreign terran player has won since thorzain won tsl 3. PLayers like ret, idra, stephano barely practices compared to the foreign terran players. Zerg is just easier to play in a macro game, terran requires a lot better mechanics. Since there are no state of the terrans, non-terran players will never realize how much more difficult terran is to play.

Man, I am so glad you are here to tell everyone how much more Terrans practice than Zergs and Protoss. I mean you would know this because you've been to all of their team houses and all of their homes watching them practice. So you know how long of a time they spend practicing. It would also clearly be impossible for say a Zerg player like Losira to have a good Terran game since he is just a Zerg that doesn't know how hard it is to play Terran... You also realize that it is not just about how many tournaments Terran players are winning? If a Zerg wins a tournament and 3 of the top 4 are Terrans does that mean Zerg or Terran is the one doing better? Well it could be neither. There is so much variance in individual tournaments and with individual players, that your point is kind of ridiculous. I don't think there is much evidence to suggest that Terran is doing the worst out of all the races internationally.

It looks really slick and beautiful with the overlay, but it's just absurd to have JP being this giant overlord looming over all the guests' little faces. This isn't JP's show. JP makes the show flow, but nobody's watching because of JP. His presence certainly doesn't justify his cam being four times the size of everybody else's.

First I think it is awesome that you have select, sjow, thorzain, and KAS... kas is good but its funny he gets thrown in that group. Second you can do that with any race. Zergs are good because they have Idra, ret, stepano, etc. The top foreigners are toss and zerg respectively (idra and huk) Whens the last major event that any of those terrans won? I don't to get into this silly discussion cause it's not like your being objective or anything but korean terrans are op... foriegn terrans are on par with all the other races so less QQ more Pew Pew xD
