Im no football expert by any means. But wouldn't most "high tier" football clubs (such as barcelona, manchester united etc etc) beat any World Cup team? Which is exactly his point. National representation over competetiveness. It's not similar at all. It's not like Manchester United is made of entirely different roster than the British national team. Manchester United has players from a number of different countries. The best analogy I could give would be if you had 3v3 teams made up by nationality and then 3v3 teams made up of SC teams like Dignitas and Liquid. It's just not comparable at all. Also, the World Cup is super prestigious. Whether or not you get better play from the club teams doesn't change the fact that winning the World Cup is probably the most prestigious thing for a team and its players. Where does the idea that the World Cup is a second rate tournament come from? The managers of the top tier clubs all think the Champions League is the premier tournament.

Not GAF tier but its up there. But most gaming communities are kinda crappy though... In a lot of ways /v/ is better than reddit (with a large amount of overlap, content is quickly shared between the two) and 4chan in general has many of the same problems as reddit does as well (see Anderson Cooper). The fact that for some reason it is okay to promote reddit but /v/ cannot be mentioned is a double standard based out out of ignorance. The content on Reddit seems a lot tamer. You'd probably never get people being daring with their jokes because they don't want to risk losing karma or rep or whatever they call their popularity contest system so you won't run of risk the people complaining about going to the site and getting all offended by posts talking about players being put on sudoku watch. Or 5000x5000 images of Losira being spammed. I mean, they can talk about Reddit and send people to a boring but safe site that won't get them angry e-mails from advertisers, or they can talk about /v/ and take the chance of sending people to a horrific trainwreck of relentless bashing/mockery of Incontrol, "strange" comments about MKP, statements of undying love for Tasteless/Artosis/Banjo and so on. And yeah, why does JP get to show off with his fancy big screen?

Anyway, blizzcon wasn't that good last year as well, it was Genius vs Loner irc, second tier korean won it, no big deal. That's not necessarily the case. Brazil isn't part of the EURO, and certain countries that qualify for the EURO do not manage to qualify for the World Cup. On what basis is the EURO necessarily higher than the World Cup? As for the other leagues, again it is not really comparable to SC since the teams that make up the WC have players in them from different Clubs (or vice versa). It can be just as competitive, it just depends on how much the teams have trained together. But since the national teams do have matches every year, not just during the WC, they do get some training. After all, a great football team is not just about having one amazing player, but about how well the team works together. Hence, why Brazil failed to win it the last two WC (failed to even make top 4). If the team works great together, then they can be just as competitive as a club team.
