Wheat is extremely weary of a specific pitfall that televised video game content has been victim to in the past. He's not averse to TV specifically but rather to the transformation that esports content tends to undergo after the changes that certain networks have deemed necessary and/or appropriate in the past. And now he has a conflict of interest (he works for twitch.tv) so I'm not sure that it's appropriate to continue the discussion with him and I don't think it's appropriate to continue the discussion without him, either. First, thank you for taking time to answer questions in this thread. Second, I was merely using Wheat as an example of a community figure who has voiced his opinions on the issue as an intro to the question. So, disregarding Wheat and his opinions/positions/obligations, what are yours, or the other hosts opinion of SC2 on TV? Is there a model that could work in your opinion?

We already talked about it in general. If your question isn't specifically about Wheat, then the other guy who responded to you is exactly right. You must have missed part of an episode.

I totally disagree about Wheat having any kind of interest conflict in working for twitch.tv. I really doubt the justin.tv people see themselves as competing with any television entity. In fact I'd say a lot of what justin.tv does is totally opposite what television does (i.e. putting the broadcast in the hands of the viewer rather than producing specific content for consumption by a demographic) and part of what they should be doing is talking about why SC2 shouldn't be on TV (or exactly how it should be on TV and furthermore how that should coexist with and be complemented by internet broadcasting). So I think now would be an even better time to ask Wheat that question (or anyone from twitch.tv really)

So I think now would be an even better time to ask Wheat that question (or anyone from twitch.tv really) I wouldn't be surprised if justin.tv people considered themselves competitors to regular cable networks. It's precisely because the business model differs that they are competitive at all. I don't pay for cable because I'm not going to spend 1/3rd of my time watching commercials for shows that I can only watch at certain times. We'll see if the traditional model lasts and if internet broadcasting can provide enough content to truly compete.
